Sounds SOOO much better with the Borla! It actually sounds very similar - maybe even better - than the AWE exhaust I have on my '05 Boxster S. Well done Chris.
Love it! Thanks for sharing this. You both show true joy and enthusiasm through the looks on your faces while you're out for the post Borla drive. I fear that the younger generations dont care for cars, and you both offer hope!
I love videos like this because the owner's excitement is infectious. Congrats to Chris... Now if I could just convince my dad to do this to his cayman (base).
OMG amazing. I've been researching exhausts for my boxster and all the videos out there suck, but your sound quality is unreal. When you started it up with the stock exhaust it sounds exactly like the real thing. Thank you so much for this video, I'm clearly getting a borla for my car now.
Audi_ophile True. The stock sound on this video is exactly what it sounds like in person. I've never heard the Borla in person but I can only assume it's accurate on here as well.
12:00 What its not supposed to sound like 12:15 What it is supposed to sound like. Livin the dream! Good idea. The weakest part of any Porsche's performance is its exhaust Borla is a fine choice.
Great video guys! Owning an 06 Cayman S with Borla XR1 exhaust I agree 100% with everything you said about the new system. It truly transforms the character of the car and that wail is so good I , like the owner of this yellow Cayman, rev it out above 4k all the time just to hear that intoxicating noise.
Love the updated sound the Borla gave the car, not to loud when just normal cruising, but when you put your foot down it roars to life! Love it! Makes me wonder if they make a set up for the 3rd Gen Acura TL 3.2 and 3.5 S-Type.
Sounds really great! I think Borla makes the best sounding aftermarket exhausts. I'm having their S-Type Cat-Back installed on my 2018 Kia Stinger GT Limited next Monday.
I showed it toward the end, forgot to actually mention it. Stock exhausts are a lot more efficient nowadays than they used to be so huge power increases aren't always there. However the difference in sound is incredible!
240whp on first dyno run. To 258whp on the 6th dyno run. I say its not a bad gain. Thats 18whp between and exhaust and what ever they did related to tuning
I bought my Cayman 987.2 with a Borla exhaust installed on it. It sounds amazing when driving in sporting condition and on track! I am surprise you say in the video that there is no drone because when below 3000 rpm the drone is so intensely annoying. I definitely cannot enjoy daily driving or highways in sixth... It is so disappointing I want to get rid of it.
I put the Borla on my 981 Boxster but went back to stock after about 5 months because the drone was HORRIBLE. I really hated to go back and I do miss it sometimes, but a 981 with PDK is not a good candidate for Borla. I wish they made a valved system for that car.
Sounds great! Do you get a lot of interior noise with it? I considered the Borla s type, but had a custom exhaust done to my 15 Cayman... it sounds incredible but the interior noise is way too much.
That sounds amazing! like a totally new car! The only downside with exhaust updates or straight piping a car is that the fuel economy gets totally destroyed :D
Guy Mooglie - Same question. HPower increase is the MAIN point in the mod (and me watching this video); sound is secondary. WHAT WAS THE INCREASE?!? Did I miss it?
@@JerrySalamanteI think it gained 8. These cars don't gain much from mods which is why I have a hard time justifying the price. But good lord it sounds incredible. My stock exhaust Boxster S sounds so tame.
My problem with Borka has always been the drone at normal RPMs. 2-3K typically makes the car sound like it's one pothole from exploding. Is this case? I find that Armytrix puts out a better product but in a different price point as well.
What do you do about the check engine light that invariably comes on when you put on a catback exhaust system? I had a beautiful sounding Remus, but it caused my check engine light to come on d/t oxygen sensor fault. I spent $1,000 changing out O2 sensors and the light would return. I replaced the stock exhaust to take it to the dealer to be sure the cats weren't bad (only 30K miles at the time, but some were reported bad out of the box) Mine checked out ok. Sold the exhaust and never saw the check engine light again... No one could come up with an answer. Too sensitive programming?
I hear some droning when you initially step on the throttle and it evens out and begins to sound good after. Does the exhaust drown at all on low RPM highway driving?
I have a 2002 986 2.7 manual ( 5 speed )and bought Borla # 140115 as Borla says it is a bolt on install and it will not mount to the 5 speed , Borla acknowledged this and offered no solution other than for me to bring it somewhere and and something fabricated. This is not what I expected from such a BIG name brand.
Man ever since i saw the Cayman S in Need for Speed Carbon i was in love i was 8 years old now 18 and i still want one lol. I have a N54 e92 BMW 335i and i think i want a Cayman S next!
The website says this exhaust system is "intended for racing and not legal for highway use." That's not true is it? I have a Cayman myself and I'd like to upgrade to this system!
The reason they did not show the new numbers is because number one they put on borla mufflers not exhaust, if you want to change this cayman s, performance you must do the whole job, first exhaust manifolds with hi flo 200 tube cats then mufflers then IPD plenum and 82mm throttle body then your cayman really will show real performance and wicked sound and real HP, and torque, then you will be truly happy, I know I am, plus do the work yourselves, dudes these are bolt ones don't pay for labor.
You forgot to mention the ecu tune. Without it you might damage your engine. I'm doing the same thing now with my 2015 Cayman S 3.4L (981 flat 6). Just installed the BMC intake filters, plenum waiting on the work bench, Borla still in box, waiting for the exhaust manifolds from Europe - install and tune. I'm hoping for 360+ hp and 300 torque.
So what was the power gain? Shot of screen isn't readable. Did you ever verbally state the HP gain. I mean it like says in the title "before and after dyno runs". So what is the point of a dyno run with no data?
It's a cat-back system. It looks short like an axle-back, but that's just because of the mid-engine layout. Axle-backs usually require cutting the stock mid-pipe, but they just bolted that one in, so it's a cat-back.
I have a Cayman S. Great cars but....needs turbos :D I got beaten at the strip by my mates Jaguar XF V8. He was running easy 13's all night long. Point and shoot.
@Hambone RIGHT?? I had to take a screenshot with my iPad and zoom in to be able to see the results, dunno why they didn't take the time and only show the results for a second
This sucks. Dyno test before is reported, then after the Borla there is a dyno test followed by crickets...…...NO RESULTS...…..SO DID IT CHANGE THE DYNO OR NOT?
Man i can't get enough of that . When it puts a smile on your face you know it's right .
i have borla s type on my 2016 mustang gt and it really transformed the car into a better experience.
Sounds SOOO much better with the Borla! It actually sounds very similar - maybe even better - than the AWE exhaust I have on my '05 Boxster S. Well done Chris.

Wow, the car sounds incredible. One of the best sounding Cayman's I've heard.
The best sounding Cayman/Boxster if heard.
Wow, Chris. It sounds SO good even on the internet! The gains were 7 ish HP?
WTF .... you two guys jumped past the stock 251@WHP to the climax of Borla exhaust of 258@ WHP ... Smiles and smiles on the owners grin ...

I have the same Cayman as you and I certainly know why you love yours so much, they really are incredible machines 😀
Uhmmm... isn't the whole point of a dyno to measure horsepower and torque? What power gain did you get?
I felt the owners excitement 100% 😀
Te amo Porsche Cayman!!!! Algún día te tendré
Get the factory short shifter and the x97 shift knob. Had that on mine and it made the car awesome, small upgrade huge difference
Love how happy he was when it fired up! Good stuff
Nice Exhaust Dude!
Love the updated sound the Borla gave the car, not to loud when just normal cruising, but when you put your foot down it roars to life! Love it! Makes me wonder if they make a set up for the 3rd Gen Acura TL 3.2 and 3.5 S-Type.
that car sounds amazing and it looks amazing too I like that car
I could listen to that exhaust every morning with my coffee😏
Sounds awesome Chris!!!
Wow. Its got yhat deep growl to it. Absolutely perfect
That sounds amazing with the exhaust update.
Love it when the fin pops up =)
Mine does have drone though, but it is something I've learnt to live with.
That is one mean sounding little Cayman!
Wow...if I ever own a Cayman, I know what exhaust I'll put on it!
Nice profile pic
Damn nice! I love that low tone Borlas have. Makes the car sound super smooth, kinda like a L6 in a BMW or Skyline
Dat Borla sponsorship!
Hello, Kyle! Are you going to upload the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio review video? Looking forward to it :).
You just earned yourself a subscriber :)
"Erned"
Leo Happy? ^^
Sounds really great!
I think Borla makes the best sounding aftermarket exhausts. I'm having their S-Type Cat-Back installed on my 2018 Kia Stinger GT Limited next Monday.
Cool video man! I'm ordering mine soon 👊🏼😎
What was the power increase?
7 wheel HP
lol too small for them to want to show in the video
I showed it toward the end, forgot to actually mention it. Stock exhausts are a lot more efficient nowadays than they used to be so huge power increases aren't always there. However the difference in sound is incredible!

damn Kyle you guys are making me want to get an exhaust system for my Subaru 3.6 R !
Awesome Video
What was the cost of the Borla Exhaust & Installation
Refresh squad?

Oh my God!! I need a borla on my 981!
what are the numbers like after changing the exhaust???
How did you get Colin Farrell to agree to do that?
I put the Borla on my 981 Boxster but went back to stock after about 5 months because the drone was HORRIBLE. I really hated to go back and I do miss it sometimes, but a 981 with PDK is not a good candidate for Borla. I wish they made a valved system for that car.
If I close my eyes I can definitely say the exhaust sound like what the new Nissan 400z should sound like
Borla make good stuff at a good price point
His reactions was priceless
COOL Porsche Cayman S Exhaust Upgrade! Borla S-Type Installation, Before & After Dyno Runs!
251 whp to 258 whp
Cristoffer NorBmw just goes to show how efficient the stock exhaust really is.
7whp for a bolt on is pretty good in my opinion
Its not about power, its all about the noise and it probably saved at least 20 lbs
it's not me that putt ut om the dyno befor and after . I think it's good . but you diddent tell us . (sorry for bad English)
First pull seems to indicate 240.8 hp with 221.4 ft-lbs, last pull 258.4 hp and 233.4 ft-lbs
Nice. can you remove the big pimples next to the rear license plate
Looks like they don't offer this exhaust for the 987 anymore. I can't seem to find it anywhere!
And I get an ad right as they were going to start the car...
Leo so did I 😥
Leo hahah same here got so nervous lol
Leo they put it there on purpose
I didn't.
the look on his face when he was revving it the first time
I like this Chris dude
Kyle we want another cayman video soon!
Sounds great! Do you get a lot of interior noise with it? I considered the Borla s type, but had a custom exhaust done to my 15 Cayman... it sounds incredible but the interior noise is way too much.
May I asked if the Borla improved horsepower and torque over the stock result. Can you advise tangible results? Thank you.
Sounds great, I really want to make mine sound more aggressive.
Nice job.Very, very nice. I have to get me one for my 09 Boxster S. That should perfect my car. What was the cost of the exhaust less the install?
What can one say …great
I'm surprised you chose Borla. It sounds good, fits well, looks quality. What other options did you look at before choosing the S-Type?
Great video. Keep it up
Hey guys what was the gain before and after Borla exhaust install....Thanks, Danny Charlotte NC
That sounds amazing! like a totally new car! The only downside with exhaust updates or straight piping a car is that the fuel economy gets totally destroyed :D
That's not true, at least from my experience. I have a 300zx and after a catback exhaust the mpg improved because of better airflow.
Fuel economy in a Porsche? Who cares?
I don't know why Porsche never just offered this type of exhaust standard!
Timboslice they're meant for daily driving.
@@Cafe_TTV you'll close out a specific buyer with such an exhaust as stock
sound really good
Chris, how has the reliability been so far? I am looking to purchase an 06 myself. Thanks!
I've seen this on Idols road, you might spot me in a grey Panamera TT or a black 981.
Was this shot with the stock headers/integrated catalytic converter?
Did it lose a little power after the exhaust?
What happened to the difference in HP before and after? Did I miss something here?

bassboost no this is the older 6 cylinder. Still has 295hp, not bad
Flat 6 naturally aspirated
It became much more interesting
Sounds like music now
Wait, are these street legal? Website seems to have a disclaimer. I'm in California, which isn't an easy state in terms of emissions and noise.
