"T(t)he courtroom of our conscience." The liturgy brings the Heavenly court to bear on our conscience. Well said!

I love the Lutheran Liturgy. I recently changed churches and found a good liturgical LCMS church! It is led by two Godly pastors. God be praised!

What God has done for us in Christ is breathtaking.
for what it's worth, the liturgy is very important. we need to go into every Sunday rightly and humbly prepared to receive God Himself in Holy Communion. The liturgy keeps us in that right frame. praise bands and de-emphasizing what the liturgy does in our conscience is the 21st century equivalent of Anglican Christmas hymns!

      As a lapsing Episcopalian/Anglican, i was going to say something to try to stick up for Anglican Christmas hymns, but I do not have the motivation for that anymore. I see in your Lutheran Service Book (LSB) many hymns that preach the gospel and Christ in the titles;
"The infant priest was holy born" (624)
By where "Shepherds lately knelt" (639)
Tucked "Away in a manger" (364)
He was born to die on the "Cross of Jesus, cross of sorrow" (428)
For me, "Chief of sinners though I be" (611)
Because we have our "Eternal Father, strong to save" (717)
We can "Praise God from Whom all blessings flow" (805)
      Amen!

@@dnzswithwombats I'm not disparaging the Anglican Church. I left in light of the gross heresies people like John Shelby Spong were preaching, not to mention the controversy with Gene Robinson in NH. I always considered the Anglican liturgy the most beautiful, but I cannot accept the heresies that have crept into that church. I was in process of ordination in that church when it was kicked out of the Anglican communion. It was devastating. So I do not apologize for calling out the fact that the Anglican churches have lost their way. It breaks my heart that they have, but they have and it serves no one to act like everything is fine.

@@simontemplar3359 I also love the Anglican liturgy and was streaming Cathedral services on UA-cam. I love the reverence for God and the exquisite music. I had to stop because of their recent changes regarding homosexuality.

I think that form of worship speaks to many people. I need the liturgy. I love the reverence for God and the constant pointing to the Bible. In a church I recently left, people would come into the sanctuary with coffee like they were going to an entertainment show. I would think. do you not understand we are coming into the presence of God? I just found it way too casual. I just find I prefer the liturgy. It seems more sacred to me.

I’m not sure if you’ll actually read this or respond, but I sure would love direction in prayer with my youngest Son, he’s Catholic, & loves praying the rosary , with me, every night calling me, ♥️ but he knows I don’t believe praying to Mary
to forgive us our sins…. Is biblical, I want to continue this time together, as he had nothing to do with me for 9yrs, now he’s turned himself around through his very strict religious faith…
I love him … but I feel I’m compromising my faith..
    Help …

Unfortunately Pastor Wolfmueller's opinion contradicts his own confession of faith in AC 15. While he clearly loves the traditional Lutheran liturgy, the Augsburg Confession says that Lutherans are not to burden the conscience of the faithful with church rites as if they were necessary for salvation. The traditional church rites may not burden Pastor Wolfmueller's conscience, but perhaps they do another confessional Lutheran who chooses not to use the old liturgy. So, despite his personal taste for the liturgy, this is something optional for confessional Lutherans and he's wrong to make it seem like the liturgy is necessary in a way that is not confessed in Scripture or the Lutheran Confessions. You don't need the old liturgy to have the imprint of the heavenly council on your conscience. Just read the Bible.

If someone is "burdened" by the old liturgy, I hope you will allow me to doubt his Lutheranism.
