Thank you Pastor for your Drive Home talks. Your knowledge, wisdom and eloquence in sharing God's Word is a delight to listen to. I have a question about the history of celebration of the day of our Lord's resurrection being named Easter. A friend has listened to too many radio preachers and claims the name Easter is from some pagen holiday. Can you share some light on this?
Thank you again for expounding on God's precious Word

Those are a LOT of LEDs in your car...
Addendum: I'm glad you emphasized the historical aspect of Scripture here, Pastor. While I certainly do believe that there are types and shadows of Christ in the Old Testament, sometimes I worry that preachers are so anxious to run to the Christological references that they gloss over the text in its original context.

Hello Pastor. I’m just curious, I always thought March 25th was the date of Christs crucifixion because there’s the tradition that saints live for a perfect number of years, and December 25th for Christmas was decided by adding 9 months to the death date of Christ, so early Christian’s assumed he was conceived on the day he died. Is that still the case? Thank you for the Joyful video and all that you do, and God bless!

Perfect number of years? Saints? Tradition?

@@br.m Yes, sorry I was speaking as if the gist of the tradition was already common knowledge so my bad. It was common tradition that extremely holy saints and prophets lived for a complete number of years from conception to death (ie not 26.5 years, or 37 years and a day, but they rather would die on their conception date so as to exist on earth for a set number of years.) it’s not a doctrinal tradition and can’t be assumed to be true as it’s just superstitious, but Augustine was familiar with this association. In On the Trinity (c. 399-419) he writes: “For he [Jesus] is believed to have been conceived on the 25th of March, upon which day also he suffered; so the womb of the Virgin, in which he was conceived, where no one of mortals was begotten, corresponds to the new grave in which he was buried, wherein was never man laid, neither before him nor since. But he was born, according to tradition, upon December the 25th.”
So this is how we got the date of December 25th for Christmas. It was assumed that Christ lived a perfect number of years from conception to death, and since his death was believed to be March 25th, they assumed his conception was the same date and placed his birth as being 9 months later. Sorry for the confusion.

@@RealityConcurrence With all due respect that sounds really silly. Extreme baloney...
That seems like something those anti-Christian eastern orthodox cultists would conjure up. They like to pretend they have holy saints who are above the rest of us.
Please don't tell me you pray to imaginary "holy saints" asking them to "intercede" for you, where Jesus isn't enough for you.
Please don't say you venerate their relics and icons.
