Imagine being someone who spends that much time and headspace randomly critiquing a UA-cam channel.
Or they think their opinion is so important that they have to put together a private email to a UA-camr, like they’re the Siskel and Ebert (Google is your friend, kids) of social media. My first question to an email like that would be what’s your Patreon and how many other channels have you tried to “improve” with your words of wisdom? I’m sure being a UA-camr really opens your eyes. Suddenly you’re a public figure of sorts and everyone has to throw in their 2 cents about you, like their opinion means something because they can send an email.
Agreed....must be an anti-social bitter single person living in mom's basement - its the only shoe that fits.
Guessing this is just a childish troll, teenager or close to it (they're all brainwashed to buy body shavers and "product"), who's a fan of a team you're meh on, so is being a nitpicky arsehole. I'd guess he's a Leaf fan, I am too, but many of my peers are total jackasses who fall to pieces every time the Leafs have a hiccup. If he wasn't picking on you right now, he'd be trashing the Leafs for losing to Boston, demanding a coaching change and getting rid of half the team, ya know, T O fans🙄. The Leafs miss Schenn, that's all, they need a big body to defend the front of the net and corners in the D zone. Simple enough, as long as they have that fixed going into the playoffs, they're OK, winning 2 of 3 even with opponents owning the front of their net and screening every shot. Oh, and I find you witty, maybe not LOL, but humorous.
Oh, and you're the opposite of arrogant, pretty self-effacing as a general rule. This junk-shaving teen just interprets your meh attitude towards his team as arrogant, but if he IS a Leafs fan, until their D gets upgraded, nothing arrogant about calling them out. I bet he looked at the Leafs deep in the 2nd row of the Power Rankings and decided to go full whiner, but they are GLARINGLY deficient in their own end, Seattle was parking Oleksiak in the crease all game, and almost won! If it's not a Leafs fan, his team is doing meh lately, you said as much, and knowing hockey is NOT being arrogant, it's being knowledgeable, why so many tune into your channel.

As someone that's been subscribed since around 700 subs I can say Shannon has never really changed other then be more inclusive to other hockey markets and that's a good thing. I Love this content and its such a part of my day. I hope more and more really learn to apricate the passion you have and how you grow the game and educate the overall hockey community. Keep it up Shannon, all of your success is disserved.
I watch regularly because I like Shannon and the content he produces, but for me a secondary appeal is how it's presented. He's informative, funny, genuine, speaks calmly, not embarrassed to include minor mistakes, and might briefly wander off on a tangent. Also, he's not ashamed to be a nerd, just like I am. I don't enjoy any TV that is slickly produced with frequent camera changes, scripted banter, flashing lights, unnecessary music, and shrieking audiences. Do you have a video which explains the significance of the War of 1812? I searched but didn't find one.
Please never change Shannon. 99% of the people who watch you literally have nothing bad to say about you or your content. And the 1% that maybe do, well, either they're either trolling or they're probably going through a rough patch in life and get pissy about anything and everything.
Although I don't hate him but he is most definitely biased, regardless of what he claims. It's does bother me but I've come to expect it. Unfortunately, it has made me watch him alot less.

Why THG is great
1)- he doesn't like the entertainment guy
2)-he is def a hockey fan
3)-he tries hard to treat every team and their fans fairly
4)-power rankings are a thing of beauty
5)-his dress sense

7) his sense of humour and his honesty
in all honesty, this guy is great and some of these above are a bit of fun, but he cares so much about hockey, fan bases, teams and you can see it in all his videos. Hope this channel goes from strength to strength

I left a comment on the THG channel when he hit 300k. Shannon never change, you're humor, passion and dedication for your channels is absolutely amazing. And as i said in my previous comment Shannons THG content helped me when i was going through a really tough time, but the one thing i could always rely on is Shannon putting out a video and hearing that friendly welcoming "Welcome Back" he starts each video with. We all love you, your family and your pets Shannon!

People who are disenchanted with their own lives project their insecurities onto other people. Typically people they actually envy. This is a prime example of that, and I hope that poor soul finds something to fill that void.

If you go to a restaurant, and your meal sucks, and gives you food posioning, would you say nothing?
Or if you go on holiday and and your room is filled with roaches, say nothing?
Or even films, tv shows, the last film I saw was fairly boring and if someone asks, I will say.
However doesn't apply to Shannon's channel. But someone should always expect opinions from others.

Agree. I cheer for multiple teams. The reason I am subscribed to THG & TEG is how he presents himself.
Have never understood why people feel a need to announce they are no longer watching/following someone's channel/page. As for THG/TEG, both have cats and bunnies so how can anyone complain about either one. If UA-cam gave out an award for humblest creator who cares most about his viewers, Shannon would win (or definitely be a finalist). And kudos to Yvonne for her answer. She is the greater woman behind the great man.
You're never going to please everybody. There are certain trivial things and idiosyncrasies some may not like. Just keep doing what you're doing. You do a great job, and the majority of us appreciate your Channel.

Dear Shannon and Yvonne,
1) Your channel is absolutely perfect the way it is! You guys have a great little niche carved out here-- there's nothing else on UA-cam (or any hockey media outlet, honestly) that's quite like it.
2) The only complaint I might have? That you should do MORE comedy videos because your sense of humor is A+, 10/10, no notes. Please add more phone calls with Gary specifically! (Maybe like a quarterly check in with the NHL executives? 😂)
3) As a woman, I can confirm with 100% certainty that the only people who have a problem with chest hair are straight men! 😂 I don't USUALLY like to speak for all women as a monolith, but I feel pretty confident about this one. (But also, for the record, I do not at all mean that to be some sort of come-on towards Shannon; he's married and so am I! Even if I wasn't married, I certainly wouldn't wanna pick a street fight with Yvonne lol, she'd absolutely mop the floor with me 😂)

I see this all the time. This guy falls into this category: "I don't like you and because I don't like you, anyone who does is stupid". Well, over 27,000 subscribers means you're dong something right. As for me, I watch videos from 2 sources "religiously" and that's this channel and JG9 who does some pretty interesting NFL stuff. Both of you are down to earth and good at what you do. Don't ever change. God bless you and your lovely wife Yvonne...and the kitties and bunnies and the kiddos even though we don't get to see them.

Hey Shannon! Been watching your videos next to daily since 2017, and I'm still excited when you upload new videos. Granted, there's bound to be some content which I'm less passionate about for than others, but I also realize that not every video is meant for me. And even if I'm not interested in everything ( ie the numbers side of the game), I admire your dedication to cover EVERY aspect of the game. The high quality and the amount of work and research that goes into every single video is admirable to say the least.
Every game I watch has something happening where I go 'I can't wait to hear THG's take on this'. After 6 years I still enjoy your videos tremendously. And I love how you effortlessly blend humour into your videos, I really appreciate that. I've completely lost track of where I'm going with this (thanks, ADHD), but the bottom line is that your videos are still my no.1 go-to source for all things hockey, and I still watch your stuff every day, your humour is right up my alley, and after 6 years of almost daily watching I'm still excited to see a notification when you've put out a new video. As someone who has at times vehemently disagreed with a hockey take of yours, and sometimes regretted the way I expressed that, it makes me sick hearing that comment. You’re content is a source of great enjoyment and comfort to so many people and I hope you never forget that.

Shannon...your channel is one of very few that I watch on a daily basis. You are my go to for general NHL updates. I'm here for your objectivity, unbiased reporting and well researched analysis. The haters are welcome to their views but know that all of us are here because you're the best source for everything hockey in any medium.

I have often disagreed with the messages you’re pedaling. But I respect your dedication to this channel. You have what’s called integrity. I'm happy that You addressed this particular complaint. They've chosen to watch Your content then proceeded to critique it in a manner that actually comes off as more of a reflection on how they feel about their life than on the quality and substance of Your content. I think it's a good idea to read most comments. They can be a useful tool to metric BUT the key is to try and not take it personally and NEVER allowing it to have a negative effect on You. Not necessarily the easiest things to do BUT all ya gotta remember is there are a lot of people whom ya don't personally know that make it a point to view Your content by choice. Aww Shannon. I comment rarely but I will now to say you’ve made watching hockey more fun for me for years. You do a fantastic job. There’s no way a channel as successful as yours can go on without some silly little trolls.
They’re jealous they can’t grow chest hair, no jersey video to truly emasculate them.
What I always find funny is that people think they have a say in how your run your channel, how you run your business, like you owe them something. When it comes to UA-cam, it's your online portfolio, your space. even if trying to make ad money on it. You're free to do what you wish, just as other people are free to watch or free to not. Some people act like your mere existence in a space is a threat to them, which is baffling.
That and some people like to troll for nothing more than to stir the pot a bit. I think of the main arc to South Park's season 20. Here this person just got you to make a video about them, 22 minutes of fame in a sense. There are definitely hateful people in the world, but then others that just find it funny to try and get under others' skin.
At the end of the day, it's all just a test in your own self-confidence. It's your space to do with as you please, and you don't owe anyone anything. I like people who think that creators owe it to them to produce content. Like, no, creators should be making content for themselves, because they want to, not because of the money or because other people want them to make stuff. It should always be about self-expression first and foremost, with views / revenue as an added bonus.

Admittedly, I'm having an incredibly hard time listening to this video because I'm completely transfixed with that epic jersey.
Edit: Admittedly, maybe in a twisted selfish way, I feel better about myself. Honestly, everyone should feel this way though if you ever feel down about yourself. If even THG has someone feel this strongly about them, then clearly it is true that you will never make everybody happy. It just isn't possible.

This reminds me of the other day when a lady I helped at work thanked me for being so patient with her and told me how great of a manager I was. Later that same day, I had a guy come in with an attitude that wanted to nitpick everything and told me I shouldn't even be there. Point is, you're never going to please everyone no matter how hard you try, so the ones who decide to be nothing but negative and pick fights should be disregarded, particularly if they're in the minority of the type of comments or opinions you get.
Personally I still watch your videos all the time as I have for years, find your humor funny, have never felt like you're self absorbed, and I love the animals.

Relatively longtime subscriber here. The following are my thoughts:
1) You are funny. And your sarcasm does not come across (to me) as arrogance.
2) As a daily viewer of THG, I care about what you have to say about hockey.
3) It is clear you have an exceptional knowledge of hockey and other subjects (though as an Oilers fan, I found this point to be quite amusing. 😂)
4) Wear whatever you want under whatever you want (I never noticed anyway).
5) I care about the pets in your house.
6) I care about the jerseys you wear for the reasons you wear them in so far as it enriches your content and makes you happy.
7) It never sounded to me like you complain, but complain if you like (it's your channel, and your content is free anyway!)
8) It is abundantly clear that you are neither lazy nor incompetent.

The problem with opinions now-a-days is that many people feel they have to comment on EVERYTHING ! If I don't like something, I simply don't listen to it, watch it, buy it, read it or whatever, without kicking the crap out of someone on a post ! I watch many of your posts on THG and definitely don't agree with ALL of your thoughts (The last one being how Jesperi Kotkaniemi left Montreal ! lol) But I have learned a top of stuff on your channel and it has made me try to become more of a student of the game vs just a Habs fan.
I watch your videos (and hockey) with my 12 year old son, and having the content family friendly is really important. And we do love the cats and rabbits. Keep doing what you do and we will keep watching! :)

I think I've been subbed to the hockey channel since he's had like 1k, watching the growth has been so cool. UA-cam is full of people putting on a front, this man is not one of them. To claim that shannon is egotistical is so beyond stupid, it sounds like a bit of projection to me. I think what makes Shannon's videos so great is just his obvious passion for the subjects he talks about, and how casual/honest the convos and settings are.
Sometimes I'll just watch the cats napping in the tree instead of paying attention to the hockey talk, keep those kitties in the shot or I'll be the one writing hate mail lol.
