Hi James. I am a qigong teacher and because I am quite old, I am teaching more seniors with issues. When this happens I try to search through somatic exercises and I find so much correlation with the approach of Chinese exercise. Particularly the exercises designed for older people ("longevity and immortality" exercises). I find that I have to find a somatic approach to even begin with many people because they are so out of touch with their bodies and I often adapt them slightly because I'm seeing them through the frame of my own experience. I really like your approach and hope one day to be able to return to the US and take some of your classes. I know that Feldenkrais was a martial artist and his writings seem to parallel much of what I've learned from my teachers and have experienced myself.
This is wonderful! We do off online trainings and have people from all over the world taking them. Let us know how we can help you continue your education with I us. ~Admin Kimberly
Hi Carmela, it is so nice to hear from you. I've never been to San Miguel de Allende but have heard wonderful things. Would love to visit someday. Thanks for staying in touch. Love and blessings, James
Hi Maddie, yes please try these out for your headaches and let us know how the various flows help you. There are many different Somatic Movement Flows that will provide different benefits based on the root cause of the tension you are experience. It could be inspirational for others to hear more from you about which videos you get the most out of and what you learn about your body in the process. Your videos are great. I appreciate that you actually explain the theory behind these movements. I am a somatic bodyworker and I've been looking for videos to recommend to my clients. I will definitely share your content with them! I also have a lot of chronic pain myself. So excited to find someone who doesn't just show some exercises, but breaks down how/why these exercises work. I'm looking forward to feeling better!

I have done this flow twice and both times I’ve cried throughout. In the final Savasana my shoulder has started to shake uncontrollably and I’ve had more tears which dissipate after about five minutes. I’m feeling like this is really getting where it needs to! Thank you so much James.
Hi there. I'm so sorry, but I'm just now seeing your comment above. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm happy to hear that you've allowed your body to discharge energy through witnessing it and not changing it. As long as you feel grounded and safe, I feel therapeutic tremmoring is very effective (healing) for Whole-Self integreation. :) James

Hi Colleen. Pardon the delay in getting back to you. I just saw your message today. I'm delighted to hear that these Somatic Movement Flows helped you release some of the pain and tension. The effects are cumulative so I hope you keep practicing. :)
Thank you so much 🙏🧡 I love these exercises ! I work at a restaurant so I tend to accumulate a bit of tension there... I was already doing somatic work, bit didn't have specific exercises for the neck and shoulders and yours are very effective 😊 new sub !

Really good video thankyou. I've suffered with a very tight Sternomastoid muscle for the past 10 years.. The pressure it puts on my ear is painful and I feel it going into my shoulder. I've been practicing Somatics for 6 weeks and it has helped a lot but it won't release completely. I'll keep at it, thanks again. Much appreciated 🙏
It's great to hear you are making progress. It sounds like you are having a great attitude of discovery and exploration? I'm happy to hear you are finding some relief. The benefits can be cummulative... so keep practicing. :) James

Thank you for this treasure video. I always wandered about that tension in shoulder and hoped to know how to heal it. I found the remarkable practical answer here. But is not it from how we sleep to the sides rather than chronic stress?
You are so welcome! I'm glad it was helpful. :) Most likely it is not from sleeping. The tension/tightness probably comes from a pattern of holding stress from daily habits, past injuries, surgeries?, sports - where you use the same muscle groups over and over again. In this method, and in Hanna Somatic Education, we call this Sensory Motor Amnesia.
@@gentlesomaticyoga thank you Mr James. I am thankful. I read about Hanna somatics and Hellerwork structural integration in Dr Don St John book. I hope I study Hellerwork it is magical.

Hi there! Yes, Gentle Somatic Yoga can help to inspire balance in your body again.
