Really wish they'd make GoBs tradeable or add a PvE option for them. WvW is not to everyone's taste, and the means of getting rewards out of it is literally just a matter of how many hours of your life you can burn doing something that isn't fun.
I see what you mean, but I also kinda like that this is "forced" for the last endgame items.. I never played wvw and always thought I hated it, but now after I tried it out and went zerging the first few times I really enjoy it every now and then!
@@ewtcizs1101 I'd rather see them draw players into WvW because it's a better way to get something desirable, rather than because it's the only way, if that makes sense. Leaves the really "hard no" people in a better spot and inspires less bitterness in the fence sitters.
WVW is not that hard. It is also a great test for your skills as a player instead of fighting boring redundant NPCs. And if you have boosters, youll get GOB in no time.
Thanks dude. As a new player wvw has been awful without a warclaw. It takes me forever just to even get where I want. I never see commanders to follow either. Even if I did I’m left in the dust bc no warclaw.. I’m sure it can be a fun game mode when the stars align but so far it’s the most boring part of GW2 for me
some "cheesy ways" for keeping the participation up: 1. You must tag everything on map (kill a guard from a camp, tower or keep) --> this will automatically give you a 10 min participation if you side captures it (you don't have to be there for the capture; you only have to be on the map) 2. Kill the Sentry Guard and let someone else capture it (even an enemy -> this still gives you the daily Sentry kill) --> I'm not 100% but If I remember correctly this will give you a 5 min participation 3. Caping ruins gives you a 2 min (might be mistaken) participation (but it has to be a color different than yours) 4. Dolly escort (for the Pack leader Achieve) --> works better with superspeed

Active PvP players don't like it because these allied players are a liability . PvE players don't like it because it's no fun to be thrown into the fire against players with 10 years+ of PvP experience.

A lot of the friends I used to play with have moved on and I found myself wanting to play stuff like OSRS more. I'll never say never, but it'd take IRL friends, an old guild reunion, or a future boyfriend wanting to play for me to come back in the foreseeable future.
Escort dolyaks resets participation to 5 minutes. Easiest by far, lol, especially with a herald pumping out swiftness. Got my own method, which I'm glad you didn't cover as if it became popular I'm sure Anet would nerf/remove. Used it over the years to get the majority of my Platinum rank. 😅 That said, even if you don't like competitive, it can be fun joining a PUG zerg for some shenanigans.. but need to watch participation if you're not getting anywhere vs blob servers...

I've only done the first few bits of the SotO story. I've mostly been playing OSRS. Jade bot was best for magic/might trophies last I knew. The recent price jumps should only make that more true. I'll have to see for story opinions. I'm honestly just glad to be rid of Taimi and to see Felicia Day back in studio for Zojja. I was hoping EoD would be mostly self contained, so the fact that SotO is makes it pretty exciting to me.
@thomasmartin5563 Eventually, when I feel like it. Right now I don't really want to and I don't have much worth talking about. I can make a video talking about the Wizards' Vault but it doesn't matter what the best rewards are, because you have more than enough time to get all of them anyways.

You could also and that's what I an doing escort 1 dolyak every 5 minute and do nothing else you need to escort completly between 2 point for it to work or give a lot of boons to it if you are not there for the whole trip reset timer to 5 minute really easy to maintain participation like that do that while watching a show or something
There's a couple odd ones that don't count, but the ones marked on the map should. If they're not counting, it's probably a glitch or you missed the event participation.
The title of the video says PvP instead of WvW. This may or may not be confusing for new players looking for a guide ;) Besides that, very nice video which explains it well. Will be very helpful to players who are not into WvW.
@ykwdota I ended up going back to oldschool runescape and playing my ironman. I'm still active in the Overflow Discord's general chat on a regular basis, but I haven't played GW2 much since the original release of SotO. There's been a lot of changes and additions that, while fine, aren't for me.
@@abree107 Thats good. But if youre not happy with those changes you should definitely make a video where you voice those. A lot of content creators quit kinda quietly with SotO. There's strong validity to why that happened, and criticism is way more important to voice than positive remarks, a lot just dont voice criticism bc the ones that wouldnt even care if it was good or bad come after them. Good example is WoW. SOOO many people quit and hate what the game has become, yet nobody speaks out, and the game kept getting worse. Also at least 90% of WoW UA-camrs are Sellouts who get paid and favored by Blizzard.
Although I suppose there is always the risk of band-wagoning, where people just see that video and it cascades into the opposite wanted outcome... Damn how I hate the internet.

I just checked. Ya capturing ruins just resets your timer to 2 minutes. so you gotta get it up first, but then you can just cycle ruins to keep it there.
I don't know how people find WvW in GW2 fun, but you have to do 8 hours of this garbage to get Gift of Battle. There should at least be an option to do sPvP to gain the Gift....
"If you're like me and don't enjoy the WvW game mode" that's sad to hear. If anyone is struggling with doing any WvW stuff, try to look for a guild that is recruiting that you can play with. It made playing in WvW way more enjoyable.
GOB is so easy to get I dont understand why players prefer the boring aspect of PVE fighting useless redundant NPCs and collecting obnoxious achievements that mean nothing.

Forcing people to do wvw is a scum move from anet to inflate the numbers on a dying game mode...

If you just run around capping the 5 ruins in the avoiding players you can get it done in about 3-4 hours depending on how fast you are

just run around WvW and follow commanders for a few hours and you will get this easy

or you go to a borderlands and recapture the ruins in the middle. Over and over again in circles. That's what I did for Conflux
Capturing ruins won't give participation. I wish it did lol
