Dude I've been playing for years and always "knew" this, but never once connected that this meant skipping the HoT hero point trains. As a primary WvW player... my god this is a "duh" moment for me lmao
Edit: A few big tips from a WvW vet for those who hate WvW: 1) The dailies can be extremely easy and often require zero contact with enemy players. 2) Look for the Caravan Killer and Camp Capturer as these are easy, and if both are up on the same day, you basically get a 2-for-1 3) The "Land Claimer" one sounds daunting but is literally the easiest one. All you have to do is kill a single NPC sentry on the map, and capture the ring. You don't need a guild and you don't need to claim a tower or keep or anything. Just capture the sentry point and you're done. 4) Honestly, avoid the Veteren Creature Slayer ones. These sound the most PvE-friendly, but they are on a relatively long cool down, are usually hard to get to, and they're cross-server spawns, meaning enemy groups will often be camping and waiting on the same spawn for their dailies. If you hate fighting people, this one is a trap. Alright, end *edit* I can't stress enough; legendaries in GW2 are MARATHONS, not sprints. Think of this as a multi-month long project you chip away at so you don't get burnt out. This is especially true if you've never crafted one before because there are DOZENS of story quests, achievements, and mastery points you must all do first (but only once per account) meaning your first legendary will take faaaaar longer than the rest. To put in perspective, it took me 6-9 months of consistent playing before I got my first legendary. It was gen 2 so, admittedly a lot harder than the others, but after that, I had my second legendary in a month, and my third in a few weeks. The first one really is a HUGE hurdle but if you can get past it, the ones after are MUCH easier because you will have already completed loads of once-per-account achievements required to craft them.
I hate WvW so much but what me and my friend does is play at like 2-4 am when no one is in WvW and just capture everything that isn't a keep, then switch map and repeat
As a newer player it feels like legendary accessories and armor are a lot more versatile than weapons since you can use them in more builds. Definitely going to check out the LW and season of dragons ones to get started
That is so correct. Armor collections are fairly easy and it will force you to get into raids, wich are also one of the easiest way to get ascended weapons or pieces of armor. It is cheaper too, a whole six pieces pack of armor costs about the same than a leggy weapon. An advice if you want it: Start with the legendary amulet (wich costs 0 gold) and save ALL the materials you get from it. I know you will want to sell them, but trust me, if you save them all in the bank you will have a much easier time doing armor later on, and it will save you a lot of gold. have a good time!
@@hectorgc1455 As someone who has all legendary trinkets, backpack and armor runes, sigils and almost all wepaons. I can clearly say you're fully correct. Getting armors and trinkets solves your main "gearing up" problem. Crafting backpack first is also quite improvement, all ways to obtain backpack either require some serious currency farming and there isn't much easy way to get them. Runes are okayish QoL improvement but not mandatory since you can change runes anytime if you have legendary armors. Sigils other hand should be basically last thing you should craft. When we comes to weapons it should be crafted after trinkets armors and preferably runes are done. Crafting some meta weapons ( like sword, axe, staff ) will give you real freedom but crafting 1 weapon requires lots of gold. Not easy to do.
@@hectorgc1455 yo can you elaborate more on " Start with the legendary amulet (wich costs 0 gold) and -SAVE- ALL the materials you get from it" like what? you mean the mats you get from salvage or just save since it doesnt cost anything.. its W5 amulet ye?
@@Anginafreak I mean that in the long, long quest for the legendary amulet from the Season of Dragons you will get a lot of rewards (yellow expensive materials and much more). It can be tempting to sell those materiales, but they will be very useful for your legendary armor pieces when you start that process. Dont sell any reward the amulet quest gives you, and you will have a much easier time crafting your leggy armor.
English isn't my main language so sometimes it is hard for me to understand everything, but god it is insane how great and professional your content is for such a "small" channel, keep up the great work and I hope you will eventually get the recognition you deserve!
Another option for clovers is the Drizzlewood map where you can get two clovers every time you complete a Commendation loop of a legion you choose from from the Quartermaster npc.
@@warchiefballer8809 if your being efficient, with just doing south meta, tagging as many events as possible, and doing the map dailies etc, I'd say about every 5-6hr's if your on a single commendation track.
@@JayRandomness07 Do I have to go through the whole loop,or I can just blitz it,like just do a bunch of events and then I leave? Or massive meta eventing?
@@warchiefballer8809 do the full south meta then look for a fresh map to repeat once you've completed south. north takes way too long to be worth doing commendation or gold wise, only worth doing north for achievements or the infusion.
i have learned more and taken more notes from this video than any other gw2 video. just watching how you click and what and where you click taught me other things not targeted in the explanation. thaks
for anyone that hasnt made a legendary yet, its definitely best to get trinkets and armor first for the quality of like trinkets can be used on every single one of your characters, and armor can be used on multiples as well, although you would need all 3 weights to use it on all characters. but still better than a weapon, which might only get used on one character if its not used in many builds. i would only suggest getting a weapon first if youre either really attached to the look/design of it, or if its a weapon you use in multiple builds across different characters.
The recipes are really complicated, but working on the legendary doesn't have to be. Just target 1 thing at a time and start with the untradeable components.
*Me before the video:* _"Nice. That might actually make me getting into this."_ *Me after the video:* _"Holy S**t. I'll never get a legendary, and it's even more complicated than I thought already."_
I believe in you mate. The first couple are always the hardest. Just pick a weapon or trinket or armor set and get started. Deciding to do it is the first barrier.
Do Return to Seasons of the Dragon achievement. I unlocked my first legendary item yesterday doing that. No crafting needed you just have to play through the story and do achievements on the maps. I'm going to try to do the backpack next I heard you can get it from doing fractals but I need to lookup exactly what is required. I've only done T1 daily fractals before so I am hoping it won't be hard to find groups for the higher tier fractals.
Same. I actually stopped previously because of the PvP to do PvE methods (WvW is still PvP) they have in the game. Recently stopped again because I saw they haven't changed it (actually lowered abysmal drop rate even lower for legendary components many years ago) and have gone full on in that direction. It is a PvP-based game so that is on me though.
@@Casualsmoothnah its not really on you, I think its fucked anet forces its players to play game modes they dislike for an extended period of time for legendaries. There should be a way to get gift of battle in any game mode, not just WvW. Other MMOs get shit for forcing players into PvP or PvP players into PvE for the best gear but not anet.... it's weird.
Dude I think I check your videos like hourly. I just happened to be watching your “Farming Guide” for the fourth time when this vid popped! Great content, man, thanks so much for spreading the info.
This is exactly why I never got into Legendaries. Way too complicated and I've been playing since launch. However, I finally have the balls to learn this :D Thanks!
I like using gw2 efficiency and I personally find it easier to mentally divide the components into account bound and tradables with account bound I must do exact things and tradables I can really do anything I want that makes gold which is most things in game
As a new player that has no friends in this game, or a guild and just dinged lvl 80 working on all the story, living world and expansions... this is to overwhelming... plus having like maybe 3-4 hours of gameplay during week and sometimes 5 in the week-ends... i fear i might never be able to make even a single legendary... just the thought now is scary especialy if i need to also make alts for the professions...
Gen 2 legendary shards can be mystic forged into another at 75 out from 100 in. For two handers, it's cheaper to convert 100 off hander shards (like ars goetia) then to make make the proper shard (ie exordium shard) Can also do a 5 to 3 iirc
Main tips for new players is that you do not NEED legendries. They have exactly the same stats as ascended gear/weapon. The only thing you get is looks and convenience of switching stats. You don't care about this in the beginning on your GW2 saga. This is end game stuff that costs ludicrous amount of money and takes weeks/months/years to obtain. Same goes for 32 slot bags. See 20 slot bags as "reasonably obtainable". 20slot will cost you ~10g on TP. 32 slot on the other hand will cost you almost 200g/bag! Not a prio for a new player an even most of the seasoned players. But when you have all in this game, tried different modes, have many alts and specializations - THEN it's time to look into those shiny legendaries and 32 slot bags.
You can also get mystic clovers from magic-warped bundles in living world season 3. If you buy the bundles in ember bay, you'll actually turn a gold profit on average.
There's no cheap way to get legendaries. It will cost you a lot ton of time and gold if you want to craft it yourself. A legendary weapon would take from a month to months depending on how much you grind for the weapon. If you don't want to get burnt out with your grind just do it casually while doing a thing at a time. Also don't grind thousands of gold to buy generation 1 or 3 legendaries. It costs few hundreds more than how much gold it would cost you from crafting unless you don't care about throwing some 💸💸. Don't do it on haste about getting a legendary since you don't need to worry about monthly subs. Lol
A lot of it depends on the player, their perspective, and their playtime. I know players that can crank out a legendary from scratch weekly or 1 every couple days if they have the starting capital. Then I also know someone who has spent a good 4 or so years working on 1 legendary and still isn't done. Relatively speaking though, 1k instead of 2k would be cheap by comparison, which is the sort of idea of the video. It's not ever going to truly be "cheap", it's one of the most end-game oriented goals for most players. People like the word cheap though.
@@abree107 if you have the starting capital *and* the right equipment for a set of specs to play specific game modes that provide a lot of gold (like weekly raids + CMs), you can definitely make legendaries that fast. But this isn’t the typical casual player. The players that are able to craft legendaries that fast are usually already at the point where they have the gear they need (ascended or legendary) to play end game content (on diverse specs to be able to accommodate various group compositions) and they usually also have the kill proof to play such game modes with pugs. Casual players usually have trouble getting invited into pug groups for end game content because they lack these things. The average casual player also doesn’t have the luxury of being able to play such end game content regularly with a static group or with well organized runs from their guilds or experienced friends. All of these prerequisites are why I think there is no loophole for new players to craft a legendary faster than usual. TL;DR it might be easy for experienced end-game players with a fairly high starting capital to craft legendaries fast but casual players are not able to cut corners when crafting their first legendaries.
@@WhoArrrrghYou The first legendary I crafted to sell from a starting point of 50g or so took about 2 weeks and only involved open world for gold sources (and no it wasn't by putting in obscene playtime). The only difference now is that every single material required is cheaper, there's more ways to get them, and there's resources for people (mine or otherwise) on how to do it. If you were crafting a gen 2 then it'd be just a bit more effort and time than that. I understand what the perceived sentiment about crafting legendaries is, but perception and reality turn out to be quite different in this case. As I've said to a few people, the hardest part is deciding to actually do it. As for getting into content through LFG, I don't really have a solution for that. I can say I made all of my "from scratch" legendaries before doing a single raid and before starting to do high tier fractals, so it's not really necessary for that. With the way the game works and has worked for a while, LFG just isn't really a good way to get into those gamemodes. If you're willing to join voice chat and willing to learn a suitable build for the content you want to play, there's people out there willing to help you. In my experience, the people who complain of not being able to break into that content are either only looking at LFG and not guilds/discords, people finding inappropriate builds (*cough* Metabattle for anything but PvP/WvW), or people just downright refusing to put any thought into the process. To be clear, this isn't me flaming the people who get misinformation or choose a build without knowing it was made by someone with no clue what they're doing. I did the same thing. I was the power druid borderline griefing your tier 3 runs. I've got no shame in that. The process is not intuitive and that's on ArenaNet, but if someone genuinely wants to break into content and is only looking at LFG instead of doing a few Google searches, that's on them (and it was on me to finally figure out how to play something other than power druid). ESO has 3rd party resources to fix their lack of intuitive trading. OSRS has 3rd party resources to fix their lack of intuitive... almost everything. Guild Wars 2 has it for breaking into raids and fractals. Experiences may differ and I have no doubt some people have given it an honest look and not found what they were looking for, but a lot of solid resources are well established now. If anyone is reading this comment and needs direction to a good, positive training environment for new players, hit me up. I can craft a legendary in a day or two depending if I have a gift of battle or not. To be honest it’s not difficult to make a legendary making your first can be hard but once you start and most importantly you sell it, yeah you’re set
legendaries aren’t the most difficult tbh, the current legendary im crafting (xiuquatl, gen 2) isnt too expensive. the crafting process is just so roundabout that ive spent more time figuring out how to get some of the mats than actually having to grind for them. As of now i just need 90 more spirit shards to craft it due to having to throw almost all spirit shards in the mystic shitter. It just took me about 4 ish weeks of actual in game Effort in total, i’m by no means an end game player. I pretty much only do open world content because i don’t have any friends who play the game or a guild to do raids/strikes/fractals with.
Great video! I got into crafting Legendary Gen 1 weapons early in my GW2 journey, because I was lucky and received two precursors within my first 6 to 12 months of playing. I got Zap, the sword precursor for Bolt from the Mystic Forge after throwing 3 random rare weapons plus a mystic stone into the Mystic Forge on my last try, since I did not have an even number of rare weapons, divisible by 4, so I used the stone. I had only tried a dozen or so rare weapons, just because I had heard about other players doing it. My 1st precursor, I had previously gotten as a loot drop, but I don't know when or where, because I did not even realize it was a precursor until days later. It was the Trident precursor with the eels on it. I crafted the Trident, but then sold it, so I could buy the precursor for Twilight, which at that time was almost 800 gold to purchase on the TP. Since those first two Gen 1 Legendary weapons, I have improved my gold making ability and knew which mats to save and which to sell, and the only thing that slows me down from crafting Legendary weapons now is getting the Gift of Battle in WvW, as I usually depend mostly on just doing a few dailies, and using the potions for track progress, so this can take me several weeks between each Gift of Battle, during which time I gather about half of the T6 mats I need, and get most of the rest by rolling for clovers in the Mystic Forge. I now have one Legendary of every weapon type, except the Mace, which I have already purchased the precursor for and should have it crafted within a few weeks after writing this. I also have two Incinerator daggers, for dual wielding, and plan to get a 2nd axe, pistol, sword, and mace, also for dual wielding. For some reason though, I have had a mental block keeping me from working on Legendary trinkets and back piece, but I have completed the 1st Legendary Raid armor collection, and started the 2nd collection, plus have collected all of the Provisioner Tokens I need to complete that armor, so I'm on my way toward completing my first set of Legendary armor and hope to also begin working on the WvW and PvP Legendary armor sets, so I'll have one of each armor weight. For me, crafting Legendary gear is the true end game for GW2.
Great video! My personal preferred method of obtaining legendaries is way easier though. Just buy gold with IRL money, then buy the legendary for whatever price it's at on the TP! Ez, no hassle :)
Awesome Video Abree !! Perfect timing too, just got my first Precursor the other day, won it from Twitch. Great to know all the steps needed to get it to Legendary. So, about 60% there already for the crafting materials. However, Gift of Exploration, ...mmmm.. thats still abit to go, but using Tactical Overlay ( TacO ) though, now that looks like it will be a little easier. Cheers
It's absolutely a life saver, but it's also definitely cool to just wander around and explore the maps in a natural way your first time through. If you've got most of the tradeable materials covered, you're starting out quite a bit stronger than most players. Glad the video helped!
obsidian shards are half the karma cost in HoT vendors btw, though they take a lot of meta-currency from those maps, but if you already have everything you want from any of the vendors, like Auric Basin or whatever, then that can be a decent alternative for supplementing some if you're struggling with the Balth Temple karma cost. wait, whoa, i didn't know you could get exp boosts from the laurel vendor :O holy damn... so much for knowing anything, i guess even with 11,000 hours playtime i have some things to learn, lol.
I almost considered putting the HoT vendor thing in, since a lot of casual players develop a stockpile of aetherium but was really trying to cut down on time. There's so many janky things to learn about this game. Just figuring out that fractal end chest rewards are unaffected by xp boosters completely, but are affected by magic find the same way open-world mob drops are was kind of crazy.
@@abree107 yeah, it's a very complicated game when you really think about it. in WoW, it's like "hey, do PvP, eventually buy good items" or "do Dungeons and Raids, and you'll eventually get what you want" but in GW2 it's like "so okay, bare with me.. [60 minutes later] and that's if you don't want to wait on random drops, but you can also.. [another 30 minute explanation]"
Nice video! I’ve crafted one Legendary of each weapon except for the mace and pistol and I have crafted two Incinerator daggers, and have found that they get easier after you get the second one done. All of mine are Gen-1, except my short bow, because I can’t stand the noise that the Dreamer makes. I’m working on the pistol now and the mace will be last. After that, I’ll probably craft the Astralaria axe and the Gen-3 pistol, so I can dual wield. I guess I’ll also need a second sword for the few professions that can dual wield swords.
I really hate running dungeons xd I’ve made legendary runes for the soul purpose of not having to do dungeons for example for monks and such. Also, sometimes have to do them for lege weapons but festivals are nice with tyrian exchange vouchers:)
Unfortunate. I quite like going back and doing dungeons, but the stack of exchange vouchers keeps growing and making it less necessary to do things like dungeons.
I'm not sure what you mean. If you're talking about leveling crafting disciplines, use gw2crafts.net. If you're talking about the masteries then there's a list of easy ones somewhere online.
It's worn me down a bit, so may have to drop upload speed in the future to be honest, but the next video is definitely not concise nor does it provide any information haha
One thing that might make a player want to craft a gen1 precursor instead of buying it is if they want the other goodies that you sometimes get through the collections. IE: The mystic chromatic ooze from juggernaut collections.
There's a handful of top AP hunters that craft them just for the AP they give, but most people just don't realize how much more expensive it can be for some of them. It's good to make sure you're aware of the trade off before deciding to go through with it.
I suppose it depends on the player, what they enjoy/don't, and how they decide to do it. If you're a PvE player and don't enjoy WvW for example, that gift of Battle can be really frustrating to get for your legendary. If you're in that position and trying to rush it, it will be very unfun. If you slow down a bit and just do some of the easy WvW dailies each day while you work on something else, then you can get it over time while you do everything else and that will keep you to mostly PvE oriented stuff. If you're trying to make many legendaries to bind or trying to sell them for a profit, doing that with no starting gold can be slow and frustrating. In that case, you can make it easier by getting some starting capital and then recycle it, spending only your profit and keeping that seed gold so you're never forced to start from scratch again. Of course, there might not be a way for you to enjoy it, but I do think most players can enjoy the process if they change how they do it to either take it more slowly or do it in a way that fits their playstyle.
Also if you have ice brood saga another way too get cheap volatile magic for little effort is alt parking and converting eternal ice into lw4 materials who can be converted into volatile magic
QoL tip for provision token. I bid 10silver on the kraits weapon so they stay in my transaction list then everyday I just go to list and instant buy the krait weapons I'm gonna trade in for tokens This way you don't have to type search the weapons on tp again
i watched the video third time now and i still can't belive how absolutely INSANE making a legendary is, i get destroyed in PvE, destroyed in PvP, annihilated at spawn in WvW so i told myself " well, if the game don't want me to play i'll search other things to do ! Hey, let's make some legendary ! " that was a bad idea lol i ended up looking if i could sell everything i had on my account to buy a legendary but if i sold everything, even bound thing i would get 300 gold hahahahaha, after 800+ hours of playtime ahahah xD i think i'm getting too old for all this ^^ i know i should start by getting ascended, but crafting is madness in this game (like in most MMO to be honest) or it needs real people which with my skills will quickly turn into why i left wow and ff14 lol maybe this game is just not for me and i keep pushing and pushing until i break and headbut my pc i don't know :/ Good vidéo tho, i'm sure people with more I.Q than me would find it very usefull
If you're still playing, check out metabattle/snowcrows/guildjen for specific builds for your profession. Also do daily and weekly vaults! It's by far the easiest way to get ascended gears and you can even get a legendary starter kit from it!
I've never heard Miyani referred to as "wench", nor is it a flattering term for her (I have played since launch). But otherwise, solid info nicely organized. Good presentation.
Start with the untradeable parts and then work your way out from there. Just doing daily stuff and the occasional meta farm of your choice will chip away at it.
Well, its good thing we dont really need legendaries or even ascended, it is just something to keep in mind and maybe farm in future when there is lack of content and we already pssively hoarded buch of stuff.
Hey, the biggest problem for me is definitely the limited amount of spirit shards as soon as you run out of your stocked shards. The rest is actually quite easy and, as stated in an earlier comment by you, can be knocked out in a few days if you have the starting capital. Do you have any tips on how you should farm Spirit shards if you are out of them? I really wanna craft another few legys but those shards keep me from starting again. thanks for the video and any help in advance!
Fractals (both dailies and farms) are really good for spirit shards if you have the Empowerments unlocked. Even if you don't they're still decent. You can buy Dessa Journals with spare relics for even more spirit shards. Living world season 4 trains are probably the best for open world farms if you have the empowerments there. Beyond that most other methods are pretty steady. There's a few janky spirit shard only farms people have made, farming ambient mobs for example, but I'd not recommend those as it's far more efficient to choose methods that provide liquid gold and spirit shards at the same time.
Getting anything in this game is insane but legendaries especially. I appreciate the grind to a point but some of the older legendary weapons are just ridiculous.
Just got back to the game a few weeks or 2 month ago since release, and at the moment I think some systems are very complicated in my opinion. And I play mmorpgs since 2002(DAOC)...
Still, I have no wish to go for a legendary. It's a great QoL change that would allow me to play different builds, etc. But the amount of time and effort it would take to get a few different weapons, accessories and armor just puts me off. I'd much rather gather gold over time and buy one off the Trading Post.
If you hold onto your materials, you might open the crafting calculator at some point in the future and find that you have 90% of the stuff you need already and then it won't seem like such a big deal to craft it. It's also definitely one of those things where it gets much much easier after the first couple times. The only super killer thing that you should avoid doing is dumping all your raw materials on the TP and then instabuying a legendary with that gold. It'll end up costing a good 20-25% more doing that vs. hoarding materials and buying a legendary p2p using stuff like ectos or t6 materials. Even just thinking ahead a little bit like that will at least give you a much better price if you choose to buy one.
I can totally sympathize with this perspective. Twilight took me over 2 years to complete and every legendary since got faster and faster as I found out what works for me (making gold and material income methods). The time between my very first to my most recent legendary is about 6 years and I now have all 5 legendary trinkets, a backpiece, heavy and light armor, 8 weapons, and one piece of the medium armor. Meaning in 2 years I made one legendary but the following 6 years I made 27. You totally got this! Everyone starts somewhere
Just play casually and you’ll get it sooner or later because all the mats you gathered. I started to play actively about a year ago and when I made the weapon for the first time, I made 2 Gen 3 in single sitting. Sold it and made 4 Gen 1 just to sell it again to make profit. Started with 500 gold and end up with around 7k gold in roughly 2 days. If you play this game a lot casually, I think this is the easiest way to make gold instead of farming. But it still come with few problems: Gift of Battle, mystic stone, dungeon and EOD currency, also mystic clover. These things gonna stop the cycle if you run out of it.
@kurisu1204 I can't speak to the new set, but PvP/WvW is definitely easier than raid armor. But if you hate those gamemodes, then that's obviously no good.
@@kurisu1204 Easy summary here. If you want an easy but LONGGGG grind set, get PVP/WVW leggie. Want a complex as heck but shorter set? Go the raid path.
Gift of mastery is a non issue for me I'm sitting on over 10 of them because I am an altoholic like the convenience of being able to waypoint anywhere and getting black lion chest keys in the process in short on all my 9 level 80's 7 of them have done world completion guess being an altoholic and generally like doing exploration helps allot
There used to be someone in my guild with 36 gifts of exploration for the same reason. It was absolutely insane and they made a ton of gold turning them all into legendaries.
I did cover this and just blatantly don't recommend it for most players. The variance is extremely high and it's actually more expensive for a lot of them if you're rolling for specific precursors.
@@MageSkeleton Not really. If it was worth your time to do dailies before, it's definitely worth your time to do wizard vault stuff. It's just an upgrade across the board tbh
Trying to learn when I can about how attainable legendaries actually are and I don't know how accurate this is, but it just kind of feels like you gotta spend thousands of hours &/or dollars to get all the legendaries you could need, and I don't know if it's even a remotely good idea unless you're extremely bored &/or wealthy.
It would be more accurate to say several dozens of hours, maybe a bit over a hundred if you don't follow anything in this video. And last I checked gem prices, legendaries are a 120-200 USD swipe
GW2Efficiency.com has a page for legendary crafting that shows the profit numbers in the right column in green. For Gen 1s it's currently like 500-750g profit and for gen 3s it's currently like 800-1000g profit if I recall? And that's with the seller incurring a 15% tax so the buyer would end up spending an additional 300g or so on gen 1s and 450g or so on gen 3s, on top of those profit ranges. And they very very very rarely fill on the buy order side. Once you craft a couple legendaries the process actually becomes surprisingly easy, which is why it's such a popular method in the gold making community.
I recently crafted a legendary and using my own mats spent roughly like 750g but the same legendary was listed over 2k in the tp.. it's a massive difference
@@Adam-qz9ec For weapons, gen 1 craft costs are currently in the 850-1100g range. Gen 2 craft costs are around 1500-1700g. And gen 3s are about 1500-1550g. And that's just buy ordering all the tradeable materials and throwing it together. It doesn't include any of the tips in this video for saving gold by getting some of the materials yourself. You have to remember, the sellers of legendary weapons on the TP only receive 85% of the face value after taxes and they still make big profit margins after that. A lot of the "value" is associated with acquiring account bound materials like gift of Battle, exploration, spirit shards, obsidian shards, etc. This is why legendary crafting is a popular method in the gold making community. You can sort of think of it like a structured but diversified farm that doesn't pay you until the end of the whole process. But when you get paid, you get PAID. Efficient legendary crafters can expect to make 50g/hr for their whole process, give or take a bit, once their weapon sells. A lot of them are considerably less efficient, but I think most players would agree that 40g/hr or even 30g/hr is a pretty solid rate to farm gold with a repeatable and diverse method.
Lots of different gold making methods. Most of it is made up between flipping, player to player trading, farming, crafting, and grinding out fractal god. Now that I'm more focused on the videos and real-life stuff, most of the liquid gold on my account sits on the side line. It takes a lot of effort to move that much gold and even more effort to move it into items and processes that are profitable enough to be worth doing. Quite frankly, I'm lazy and haven't leveraged all of my liquid gold into making more gold since I hit 20k or so and that was ages ago. Over time, I've carefully liquidated most of my materials and items into raw gold using very efficient methods. I've always been more TP focused than most other gold makers so it was a bit easier for me to do than it probably would be for others. I actually got really close to 150k while editing this video, but found an opportunity I liked and ran myself down to 144k again. The raw gold makes for good shock value in videos, but it can't really earn any returns when it's sitting in my wallet. Liquid gold is a much better metric of gold-making performance. Probably a bit more rambling than your question called for...
@@abree107 Not at all, I really appreciate the thought-out response! I did some flipping and investing myself for some time which got me to 10k (peanuts compared to you I know), but it either is so much work (the former) or takes ages to be profitable (the latter). Never really got the other gold-generating methods.

@@abree107 Completely caught me off guard that you actually answered this question and didn't give a vague answer like saying 'I played a lot of drizzlewood coast bro'
The TLDR is you use your account bound materials to craft a legendary with tradeable materials provided by the other party, then send them the legendary and get a commission for your part.
@@abree107 Oh, that's interesting. And very high-trust. How much return can you generally expect for such a project, and what do you usually need to have lined up to volunteer for it?

i got a question about WvW.. I have not tried it yet because in general i suck at pvp in all games but to do it for a reason like currency for armor ,, do I have to win to earn currency or can I just participate and look silly trying to kill players that basically sneeze my way and kill me usually ( speaking from wow bg experiences) ,, it does not matter i play a reaper, my lack of skill negates any advantage a strong character would give.. also.. would i be booted from groups by other team mates for sucking
I don't know about how you'd fare in groups and how people react, but you can absolutely play it like a PvE gamemode, try and avoid players, and get everything you need from doing that. You will have to accept the occasional death if someone catches you, but you don't need to kill other players to get rewards from the gamemode. The vast majority of the rewards come from keeping participation up, which you could do a number of ways, but I really recommend flipping camps. Again, if you don't mind waiting a while, doing 1-3 WvW dailies will also get you a gift of battle.
My experience, as someone not great at pvp and not much interested, is that if you see a commander leading a blob around it's pretty easy to tag along. When you've got 30+ players you don't have to be very good and people aren't going to notice. I only see people getting booted from a squad when they do things like leave the map without leaving the squad. It probably helps to be ranged. But basically you don't have to do a lot to contribute. If you can do some damage when running into other players, carry supplies for siege building, provide healing, provide boons, provide missile blocking, you're contributing. (Though the game mostly only gives you participation credit for tagging players who get killed or capturing objectives.) Basically in addition to what Abree said, it's pretty easy to tag along with groups. If the group has a high standard they're going to be a private squad you can't join.
I want to create the Legendary "The Shining Blade" sword. I made the Ascended one and need the last part to finish it. What would be the fastest way to finish it ? I cannot do any Mists, Raids and such because I dont have or in a Guild. Thanks for the help :)
You shouldn't need a guild for any part of the legendary, although I'd recommend joining one in general. Everything you need should be in the gen 2 section.
If you make it a priority and chip away at it, you'll find it's not so bad of a task. But if you don't care about legendaries then you can definitely play a long time without them. I've got a very close playtime to yours and my armory only has the freebie amulet from the return achievements and 1 weapon.
Hi Abree, I just droped a Vial of Liquid Aurilium wich currently instasells for 975 gold in the tp should I sell it, list higher or try to trade in a discord, wich I never did before so I don't have any rep as a trader. What would be the best solution for me ?
Trading it on the overflow discord with a high rep trader or by using a middleman will be the safest and fastest way to get the most value out of it. If you need more direction on that, check out my video on trading.
Why trade the map completion gifts for Lamp lighters badges when those are so cheap? Completing a map is a hassle, paying a small amount for the badge isn't.
The price point on those has gone down quite significantly. It used to be a viable option if you were quick at completing them; Kaineng was particularly decent to farm. Right now, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. It's entirely possible for the prices to change again in the future though, so that's something to keep in mind.
How high is the difference from ascended gear to legendaries in Stats? It seems to much work for me as an casual player who have a full time job, if it's not worth it, I just skip it and don't care...
I somehow didn't get a notification for this. There's no stat difference between ascended and legendaries. I've gone all the way to the fractal god title and the character I use for fractals has 0 legendaries they use. It's 100% quality-of-life and cosmetic.
lol. 300g+ for a precursor isn't cheap, which defeated the purpose of this video. However, there is a way to get precursor for cheap (for real) by doing the Collection Achievements -- most gold you're going to spend is about 3g-5g.
You can check on GW2Efficiency.com, most gen 1 precursors are a loss to craft through the collections. They require a large number of ascended materials to craft. Even the ones that DO save gold to craft aren't worth it time-wise unless you're an achievement hunter; 40g savings is not worth a full day of running around and doing the collection tasks. One thing is for certain, if you're only "spending" 5g on a precursor then you're not valuing any of your materials (or your time for that matter) and that's simply not correct. Your materials have value and your time has value, both of which are non-zero. The precursors are 1 spot that is very difficult to save gold on and I also did use a more expensive example in the video; most other precursors will be cheaper than that one.
@@abree107 I said cheap in terms of gold. I agree, my time has value and if I factored that in, I won't waste it playing video games, instead I'd be working -- so that's never a factor. Just to be clear, your video is a great guide, I simply disagree with your title. If you want to make a cheap legendary guide, it has to include the cheapest way possible of getting it. That was my expectations when I clicked on your video. In comparison, I expected in your Best Gold Farming video when I click it to include Dragonfall, which it did and I fully agree -- your video agrees with your title.
@@EnzoVinZ That still doesn't address the fact that it's more expensive to craft most gen 1 precursors than it is to buy them. In terms of gold, buying them IS cheaper for all but ~4.
There's an absurd amount of audio issues with this video if I'm being honest. I had to drop the perfectionism and settle on 'good enough' after a few hours of fixing audio stuff. Frankly, if that's the only part that sounded weird to you, I'll take it as a win. It wasn't my best recording work, wasn't all done in 1 session, and the fact that the video is so long and has so many cuts only served to make it even worse. I've got a few ideas for addressing it in future videos (plus hopefully I never make a video this long again).
I'd say go for it, but you'd probably have to take away the "pro gamer" pfp if you paid money to avoid playing a game. That's almost like the opposite of being professional, paying them instead of them paying you.
Let me just say that material upgrade is not worth it anymore Edit: idk about 2 months ago but at the time of my post, like for the last week, the dusts required to do any upgrades are all negative so atm none is worth it.
I forgot to add, that the best place i found to acquire those mats and fast is drizzlewood coast, i hope it helps other on that task without spending much gold only thing is you need to manage the keys thing with the purchase limit of 15.

The aetherblade legs are the only thing that involves gemstore, but if you're not playing a heavy armor class then you can find like 30 plain leg skins that are free.
That's fair enough. You really don't need to. It is a satisfying process though and you can always take it at your own pace. It's very much intended to be endgame.
I just finish my first legendary. I consider myself a casual player (mb play 3-4 days a week for like 2-3 hrs each ) and i choose Nevermore, a gen 2. It took me 4 month from the moment i decided to craft it. The magic happened when, after i finish my gen 2, i read the requirements for a gen 1 and i found myself thinking "wow gen 1 are sooo ez" However my approach is to use legendary crafting as a guide for content. So i immediatly start working on my gen 3 so i force myself to play in cantha. And since ive been playing for a while, most of the tricks ive learnt for my gen 2 also made gen 3 crafting look ez. I wish i had found this video before🥲
For most players, crafting legendaries is quite a long term goal. I wouldn't get too caught up in making it the only thing you work on in the game if you find it that intimidating.
Last I knew it was $110-150, but prices could have changed. I'd personally recommend going through making your own. It feels great once you have it done and it pushes you to try things you wouldn't normally do. That said, you do you.
@abree107 thanks, I've already made 3 legendaries on my own back in the day gen 1s, I really want bolt sword but idk If I have it in me to craft. Currently not alot of time on my hands and I'm still trying to unlock flight mount 😆 (feels impossible for returning player). Just checked prices and rates and it's 80 dollars, I don't mind buying it since all my mainstay classes use sword.
@@abree107 that is only obsidian shards... Gift legendary weapon would make more sense to do it this way. Although, I have never heard of anyone paying for legendary crafting in this way
If that's your hold-up, I'd advise just waiting a couple months, letting everything build up in your material storage, and then checking back in. If you connect your account on GW2Efficiency you can put the legendary you want into the crafting calculator and select the "use owned materials" option to find out the value of what you're missing. It might surprise you how much you will passively accumulate. The first legendary is always the hardest and it gets easier with every single one you make.
Definitely understandable. Usually, doing dailies in WvW or flipping camps can reduce the amount of actual player interaction you have to deal with, making it easier to stomach as someone that doesn't enjoy WvW.
really hate how theres very little to no ways to farm tier 2-4 materials needed for basically every legendary with reasonable time/effort. there either are no maps with mob groups droping specific mats, or if there are they are overrun with foking bots. so u end up farming just gold and have to hand it over to those same bots to get the unreasobale amount you need. i really wish there were more areas like the harathi leather farm on whichever the maps name was, but for things like bones, blood and so on. or am i missing something? and no, some lootbag that has a pool of 100 items from which 1 is the one you actually need isnt really an option in my opinion. this is the main reason keeping me from making more legendaries, together with the repeated word completion. its fun once but then it just becomes a timeconsuming chore. how things are now getting a legendary is mostly having gold and doing brainless chores, not sure if they even deserve the name.
Laurel bags are the best way to target tiers 3 and 4. There are central tyria metas that would give those materials, but when a different map gives several times as much gold, it just doesn't make sense to do those metas for the materials. Target farming materials of any kind (including leather in lake doric) is just not really worth it.
@@abree107 but arent laurels basically the rarest currency in game? as far as i remember u only get them from daily logins and ap-reward chests no? or is buying said crafting materials literally the only use of laurels? while im more or less a veteran, im mainly playing wvw for a few years now so i really dont know about most of the pve related stuff. oh, and tyvm for your answer, keep up the good work.
@@lordflunder It's currently the best use to get gold value out of laurels and if you're using the materials yourself instead of dumping them on the trading post, that's even better. The laurels come in slowly, but most veterans have a handful.
I guess it depends on what your definition of casual is. End game goals in most games require time, especially in MMOs. If they didn't, everyone would quit because they'd run out of things to do. Unfortunately, they can't please everyone and there's other games that cater better to what they want.
You can use the Heroics Notary if you play a lot of WvW to help speed up world completion a little bit by rapidly completing hero points. :)
Absolutely meant to include this and forgot. Cheers!
Dude I've been playing for years and always "knew" this, but never once connected that this meant skipping the HoT hero point trains.
As a primary WvW player... my god this is a "duh" moment for me lmao
Edit: A few big tips from a WvW vet for those who hate WvW:
1) The dailies can be extremely easy and often require zero contact with enemy players.
2) Look for the Caravan Killer and Camp Capturer as these are easy, and if both are up on the same day, you basically get a 2-for-1
3) The "Land Claimer" one sounds daunting but is literally the easiest one.
Alright, end *edit*
I can't stress enough; legendaries in GW2 are MARATHONS, not sprints.
Not easy to do.
i havent crafted a weapon legendary it is so cheap to get an ascended one or stat change the ascended weapon.
It can be tempting to sell those materiales, but they will be very useful for your legendary armor pieces when you start that process. for anyone that hasnt made a legendary yet, its definitely best to get trinkets and armor first for the quality of like trinkets can be used on every single one of your characters, and armor can be used on multiples as well, although you would need all 3 weights to use it on all characters. but still better than a weapon, which might only get used on one character if its not used in many builds. i would only suggest getting a weapon first if youre either really attached to the look/design of it, or if its a weapon you use in multiple builds across different characters.
I'm not even halfway through and I've already been overwhelmed.
The recipes are really complicated, but working on the legendary doesn't have to be. Just target 1 thing at a time and start with the untradeable components.

It's a big goal. Just chip away at it.
if you ever need friends, im so down. I also felt this way but now im 3/4 of the way to my first legendary! itll happen over time :)
A legendary consists of four parts, focus on one at a time and u will find that although costly, legendaries are not as daunting as you think
Gen 2 legendary shards can be mystic forged into another at 75 out from 100 in. For two handers, it's cheaper to convert 100 off hander shards (like ars goetia) then to make make the proper shard (ie exordium shard)
Can also do a 5 to 3 iirc
I'm still rocking my ascended gear haha
Absolutely agree

I hate that they force you to get an item from WvW. It's the only reason stopping me from getting my Legendaries.
@CeresOutpost nah I actually think it's just alright, I just hate it because I don't get to do much with my crappy aussie internet 🙃
Great video! My personal preferred method of obtaining legendaries is way easier though. Just buy gold with IRL money, then buy the legendary for whatever price it's at on the TP! Ez, no hassle :)

Solid info, thanks for your efforts bro.
To gold dump into the legendary runes or focus on the fashion wars of the gen 3 variants. The struggle is real
I believe in you to sort it all out.
Thanks, i actually learned things i didn't know about
I really hate running dungeons xd I’ve made legendary runes for the soul purpose of not having to do dungeons for example for monks and such. Also, sometimes have to do them for lege weapons but festivals are nice with tyrian exchange vouchers:)
Unfortunate. I quite like going back and doing dungeons, but the stack of exchange vouchers keeps growing and making it less necessary to do things like dungeons.
for me, the most annoying part is the gift of battle

Wholesome commenter, good job @TwizzleBear 🫡
One thing that might make a player want to craft a gen1 precursor instead of buying it is if they want the other goodies that you sometimes get through the collections. IE: The mystic chromatic ooze from juggernaut collections.
There's a handful of top AP hunters that craft them just for the AP they give, but most people just don't realize how much more expensive it can be for some of them. It's good to make sure you're aware of the trade off before deciding to go through with it.
I always found getting legendary weapons/trinkets to be ultra frustrating and not really fun at all...by which I mean unpleasant.
Also if you have ice brood saga another way too get cheap volatile magic for little effort is alt parking and converting eternal ice into lw4 materials who can be converted into volatile magic

i watched the video third time now and i still can't belive how absolutely INSANE making a legendary is, i get destroyed in PvE, destroyed in PvP, annihilated at spawn in WvW so i told myself " well, if the game don't want me to play i'll search other things to do ! i ended up looking if i could sell everything i had on my account to buy a legendary but if i sold everything, even bound thing i would get 300 gold hahahahaha, after 800+ hours of playtime ahahah xD

I've never heard Miyani referred to as "wench", nor is it a flattering term for her (I have played since launch). But otherwise, solid info nicely organized. Good presentation.
This still seems so, so daunting 😆
There's a few janky spirit shard only farms people have made, farming ambient mobs for example, but I'd not recommend those as it's far more efficient to choose methods that provide liquid gold and spirit shards at the same time.

very helpful, thank you!
Getting anything in this game is insane but legendaries especially. I appreciate the grind to a point but some of the older legendary weapons are just ridiculous.
I crafted 3 legendary from scratch 😊
Agreed.

And last I checked gem prices, legendaries are a 120-200 USD swipe
thanks dude
so daunting. How much do you save by crafting the legendaries versus just buying them from the trading post?
@@Tonino_O Oh wow. Do you mind telling me which legendary that was? I thought making a legendary would cost like 3-4k

Great vid btw

How exactly do you trade the Gift of Mastery like you mention at about @7:40? It's account-bound, as is the Gift of Exploration used to make it.

@@abree107 Well, I'm already in the right place, albeit just to try and salvage people's ecto. It seems like that doesn't actually build rep there though, so I assume you need to either buy or sell some spendy items in there before this door opens to you.

i got a question about WvW..
(Though the game mostly only gives you participation credit for tagging players who get killed or capturing objectives.)
Basically in addition to what Abree said, it's pretty easy to tag along with groups. If the group has a high standard they're going to be a private squad you can't join.

But you got there in the end!

However my approach is to use legendary crafting as a guide for content. So i immediatly start working on my gen 3 so i force myself to play in cantha. And since ive been playing for a while, most of the tricks ive learnt for my gen 2 also made gen 3 crafting look ez.
I wish i had found this video before🥲
Welp… I tried but unfortunately my gw2 journey will have to end here:( this could had been the one
For most players, crafting legendaries is quite a long term goal. I wouldn't get too caught up in making it the only thing you work on in the game if you find it that intimidating.
How much would 2k gold cost in dollars? Thinking of swiping to buy legendary
How can you sell a Gift of Mastery to other players if it is account bound?
They provide all tradable materials and give a commission once you craft the legendary weapon for them.
@@abree107 that is only obsidian shards... Gift legendary weapon would make more sense to do it this way. Although, I have never heard of anyone paying for legendary crafting in this way
Farm silver wastes for obsidian shards. You get them free!!!
How do I get out of bronze crafting? That is the real challenge
Gw2crafts.net
Leveling crafting is the only time you will ever hear me endorse instant buying.
6:22 Haters will say its photoshopped
I just saw 77 mystic clovers and I was already out, you need so much gold to make these shit, I alrady give up lol.
The first legendary is always the hardest and it gets easier with every single one you make.
im so annoyed i have to play wvw to get my stupid legendary
Definitely understandable. Usually, doing dailies in WvW or flipping camps can reduce the amount of actual player interaction you have to deal with, making it easier to stomach as someone that doesn't enjoy WvW.
150k gold.
really hate how theres very little to no ways to farm tier 2-4 materials needed for basically every legendary with reasonable time/effort. there either are no maps with mob groups droping specific mats, or if there are they are overrun with foking bots. so u end up farming just gold and have to hand it over to those same bots to get the unreasobale amount you need. i really wish there were more areas like the harathi leather farm on whichever the maps name was, but for things like bones, blood and so on. or am i missing something? and no, some lootbag that has a pool of 100 items from which 1 is the one you actually need isnt really an option in my opinion. this is the main reason keeping me from making more legendaries, together with the repeated word completion. its fun once but then it just becomes a timeconsuming chore. how things are now getting a legendary is mostly having gold and doing brainless chores, not sure if they even deserve the name.
The laurels come in slowly, but most veterans have a handful.
holy shit thats a lot of gold :(

Welp, I'll never get any of this.
To be honest, casual player will never achieve this, only peeps who play many hours a day will benefit from it. Kinda sad system.
I guess it depends on what your definition of casual is. End game goals in most games require time, especially in MMOs. If they didn't, everyone would quit because they'd run out of things to do. Unfortunately, they can't please everyone and there's other games that cater better to what they want.
Gift of mastery is account bound you can't sell it or buy it.
Gift of Mastery sales involve crafting a weapon for someone else who provides all of the tradeable materials and then pays you a commission.
