The building is John Marshall High School (L.A.). It had been closed prior to the video due to a lack of funding. Van Halen paid an undisclosed amount to rent the building, and the school was able to reopen with the additional funds! Great guys!!!

Back when this song came out, I was one of several junior account executives working for a company that held Monday morning sales meetings every Monday at 8:30a.m. Sharp. But 9a.m. felt about right to me to come into work. To this day, I think the only reason I was kept on and not fired was because of my sales track record. There are two eras of Van Halen. 1974-1985 the David Lee Roth years and 1985-1995 the Sammy Hagar years. Both cranked out massive hits, each are worth a listen.
Yeah, what the others have said. DLR years they were a ground breaking rock band that had many amazing songs and almost too many odd throw away songs that made you think what were you thinking with that song? But still mostly very good. SH years they were a band that the best guitarists in the world decided he would rather play keyboards and make cookie cutter, modern day, elevator music for the masses, than do what he did best. Now some of these songs were good, but not songs we wanted from Van Halen. I mean come on Eddie, you were an average keyboardist at best. Hire a keyboardists to play keyboards and you stay at guitar. Dream Theater could have shown you how how well that could have worked for you. I feel Rush was guilty of this as well. Some people say Eddie it the greatest guitar player ever. When he actually played guitar I would agree he is up there. But there were so many times he didn't play guitar or played it in an uninspired way because thats what the song called for. Thats why I personally can't rank him that high. I don't deny his talent. I question the musical direction he went in. This album is a perfect example of what I mean. You got Panama and Hot for Teacher. World Class rock songs. Then you have Jump, with Eddie playing a synthesizer no one wanted to see him play. OK song but Not from Van Halen. After that, the only other song worth mentioning is "I'll Wait." Which I actually find pretty good, way better than Jump and would be a nice ballad for a hard rock album. The rest of the songs are of the "What were they thinking variety." Songs only Van Halen fans would like.
I played this song my senior year in high school at our afterschool talent show. One of the groups I played with played this, and during everything except the intro and solo, I stared at the hot art teacher the whole time. Her only response afterward was, "You need to work on your subtlety."
After more than 25 years of anonymity, the woman who played the teacher in Van Halen's Hot for Teacher music video has come forward. Her name is Lillian Muller and she has not changed one bit. Muller, who modeled for Playboy magazine in the 1970s, also does some modeling work for AARP and has written a self-help book, Feel Great, Be Beautiful Over 40. Nonetheless, the Hot for Teacher star has also played parts in other famous music videos. In 1978, she played Rod Stewart's love interest in Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? Muller has had Hollywood romances with hot celebrities from Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck to Playboy magazine mogul Hugh Hefner.
You gotta remember the Van Halen was the ultimate 80s party band. They wanted to make Metal that you could dance to. Every song during the David Lee Roth years is designed for dancing and having a good time.
No matter how many times I’ve seen this video and heard this song, it will never get old. Always gets you to perk up and filled with energy. I grew up in the 80’s and it’s still as great as it was back then.
HOT FOR TEACHER. Oh the memories this brings back....I have to share this story. The year is 1971. I'm 13 years old and like most of my male friends in the class we were just hitting puberty. This meant that for most of the time we were brain dead. Sometime during the school year we got a new teacher for one of our classes. Ms. Marshall was Australian and can I say, without being cancelled, very well endowed. She was a stunning young women. Of course when she walked in the room, most of the male students were in awe and dumbstruck. Being brain dead young teens we weren't bad, but we had a hard time staying focused, paying attention and were ALWAYS goofing around, doing stupid things. This was so bad our home room teacher (a male teacher) put our desks in rows across the room side to side (rather than front to back). He put all of us "pranksters" in the first row and said he wanted us within striking distance. I was proud to take my place in that row - it was a badge of honour. So it is one class that Ms. Marshall was at the front of the class and I was goofing around with my buddy Ken. For some reason I smacked him as hard as I could on his leg. He yelped out in pain and probably cursed. Well Ms. Marshall marched over to the front of his desk and put one hand on each side of his desk and leaned into give Ken "what for". Now remember, this is a young women with large breast AND she seemed to have double jointed elbows that made those breasts protrude out when she was chastising Ken. I am sure they were not more than 24 inches from his face. I was sitting right beside Ken and was unable to concentrate on what she was saying. When she left I asked Ken "What did she say?" He looked at me with glassed eyes and a dumb Cheshire cat grin and said, "I don't know". Ah the beauty of youth and lovely teachers. We were "Hot for Teacher".
In year 12 we had a relief science teacher - she was about 25, and pretty in that cute female physicist way. So one of the boys took her to the prom dance. But in reality I've seen it's the young female teachers between 25 and 35, who are hot for the 17 and 18 year old boys 🤭
I remember being fired from a job I hated and on the separation forms they wrote as their reason for termination “habitually tardy”. I wrote on the form “I don’t feel tardy” and handed it back to them as I walked out the door. Best. Day. Ever. This video is a great example of the image of Van Halen as being a party band. It’s just flat out crazy fun. And yes, “pencil” in this video is a euphemism. 😆
I was still in my early teens when this came out. So as you can imagine, I really liked those teachers! Alex Van Halen's drum solo at the start is iconic and instantly recognizable, even after all these years. Frontman David Lee Roth was famous for his on stage gymnastics, and his vocal gymnastics, sometimes jumping up into whistle range here and there.
Just like the Bon Scott years of AC/DC, early Van Halen had a lot of fun with their music. Incredible talent combined with an obvious love for what they're doing makes for music you can't help but love. Aileen, you mentioned the vocals, guitar and bass, but what about those drums!? Before this, no one had ever played like this.
David Lee Roth was the singer here. He was their singer on their 1st 6 albums. This song was on the last of those 6. He was replaced by Sammy Hagar, who was the guy who introduced Eddie in the Eruption solo you reacted to. Both were great, and I was fortunate to see Van Halen live with both.
Even as a guitarist who totally loves Sir.Edward, his brother Alex on Drums in this one is phenomenal ! And Eddie walking on the tables during his Solo is perfection, and of course David lee Roth being Dave is truly Awesome!
Alex is a drummer heavily underrated. I put him up there with the likes of Rush's drummer. To be honest, I enjoy listening to Alex over Neal alot more! While Neal is more technical and a virtuoso at playing, Alex just bangs away at those drums and cymbals that make their songs fun and fast, and actually drives those songs!!!
I’ll never forget sitting in the car with my little brother & dad waiting on mom who said she “just had to run in to the store real quick”. I was like 15, 1984 had just come out and I had recently purchased it (cassette tape). I was listening to it on my Walkman in the back seat, with my 7 year old brother next to me, annoying me of course, all the teenage angst you can imagine. Sitting there dad asks what I’m listening to and says “let’s hear it”, so I take 1984 out, it was on this song, and handed it forward for him to put on in the car. Dad about craps, he listened to 60’s folk songs, and asks “who the hell is this”, I’m like VAN HALEN! You just don’t understand me! Mom opens the door about a minute later, gets in and goes “oh, Van Halen, this is new isn’t it?” Mom was cool. Went to see many concerts with her, unfortunately VH wasn’t one of them, wish it was. It’s funny how every generation of teenager has “their music”, the stuff only you got, your parents didn’t, this was ours. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, it was a magical period of time in music.
Some other notables to check out: Mean Street; Ice Cream Man; Pretty Woman; And The Cradle Will Rock; Running With The Devil; Panama; Drop Dead Legs………plenty to get you rolling really good with VH. RIP Eddie, you will always be the king.
Oh yes Aileen I completely agree, those noises “ Mom” was making…. Ummm… ya.. were not sounds a Mom makes lol. Just revisiting your Van Halen reactions. I’ve heard this song a million times, but watching your reaction is just priceless!! Esp your gigantic smile when a video gives you joy!!! Your the best! Hope you get this cuz you did this one awhile ago. So I may be like 5-600 down the line!!😂🤣😇
One of my favorite songs of all time! And I’m 54 years old been around for a while heard a lot of music! This is a prime example of by growing up in the 80s was everything! The Fashion, the music, the videos, the kicheness of it!
I was impressed Aileen with your enthusiasm. Thats how it was thru the whole 80s for many of us. Magical decade and exceptional rock music. Great reaction. Its kinda twilight zome for me seeing younger people 40 years later rockin out. 😂😂😂
You need to hear their whole debut album. Arguably, one of the greatest debut albums ever (Boston, Guns & Roses and Queen also have great debut albums).
Steel Panther's lead singer Michael Starr and guitarist Satchel were in a Van Halen cover band. Michael Starr called himself "David Lee Ralph" (his real name is Ralph Saenz). 😁
Van Halen was a very fun group and made a ton of great music. Eddie Van Halen of course one of the top elite guitar gods, RIP. I grew up with these guys, they are engrained into my DNA and part of my personality.
The Roth era 1978-84 start there and progress as the band does. They cranked out an album every spring to rock our summers for decades. David Lee Roth was the ultimate front man and Sammy Hagar has a lasting voice that still sounds good today
Such a great song! I grew up during the '80s. I recently discussed this song with a high school friend and he was like, "Yeah, it was the 80s. Theme didn't age well!" lol Still, done with humor and light heartedness so I still enjoy it.
What do you mean it didn't age well? kids are even hornier nowadays, especially the girls. Stop pandering to the modern no fun nonsense. It aged very well because it;s a timeless topic
This was their last album with David Lee Roth as their lead singer…until 2012. Did you recognize that every band member had a matching school kid? Best rock video of all time…to me!
Huge Van Halen fan. There are so many songs to choose from the David Lee Roth era. From Ain't talking About Love, Jamie's Crying, Little Dreamer to Mean Street, Unchained, Panama. You can't go wrong with ANY song from 1978-1984. Well, maybe some of the covers off of Diver Down.......
True story. Used to manage a music store in Cleveland back in 1995. Drum sales guy quit and on his last day he had a request. He wanted to hear this song. Myself and our audio guy hooked up every amp and speaker in the place. Probably 25,000 watts thru at least 30 JBL stage speakers. Cranked the hell out of it. So loud that we had to go out into the front parking lot. Actually shattered 2 storefront windows. Love this tune. Love the memory. On another note: Aileen...you are a wonderful human being. Love your reactions. God bless you and stay groovy!
Van Halen was the epitome of the party band back in the late 70s, early 80s. Back when MTV was about the music videos and concerts, the interviews with members of Van Halen were always over the top. The video for the song Panama includes actual footage from when David Lee Roth got arrested in the hotel. Of note, Eddie and Alex received drums and guitar, respectively, from the parents when they were kids. They didn't like the instruments they were given so they swapped and the rest is history.
David Lee Roth (known as Diamond Dave) is the lead singer is a true showman and the epitome on what a "frontman" should be. Alex Van Halen is the drummer and Eddie's brother. Michael Anthony is the bassist and backing vocals. Van Halen were a perfect party band; they were fun to listen to, fun to watch and they had a lot of catchy tunes that almost everyone liked.
I'm glad I lived through that era, and not in this day and age when kids are fukked up in the head and going along with all of the fake gender identity bullshit.
The band members. Lead guitar/keyboards: Eddie Van Halen, drums: Alex Van Halen, bass guitar: Michael Anthony & lead vocals: "Diamond" David Lee Roth. He was the bands original singer. ✌️
The thing about Edward Van Halen is when you think that he hit the stratosphere he breaks through and as usual makes your jaw drop. The chemistry of the David Lee Roth years was undeniable. I'm 58, VH 1 shook the world in 1978.
I love this song, but probably not the best to get a feel for Van Halen. 'Mean Street', 'Running With The Devil', 'Aint talking bout Love' are better choices.
Starting high school in 1982, DLR-era Van Halen was what guided my HS football team through adolescence. It is amazing that we didn't all end up in jail.
My favorite group of all time. Lead vocals,David Lee Roth, lead guitarist Edward Van Halen,Bass Michael Anthony, Drummer Alex Van Halen..."class dismissed"❤❤
Everything about that era of Van Halen is unique-David Lee Roth’s voice and technique is completely distinct, and you noticed the particular sound in the solo section, how each member and their distinct sound make something singular. Those great musical relationships-Rush, Yes, AC/DC, so many greats-they share something special, and we are blessed to hear it.
Diamond Dave, Eddie, Alex, and Michael having a Blast! Fortunate enough to see them live in Detroit, Dave puts on an Amazing Performance, they all do! Check out any VH Hit you'd like and also check out Dave's cover of "California Girls." Thanks for the great reaction.
In 1984 I was working in an Italian Bread Bakery slicing the loaves and we had this little tv there. Friday Night Videos played this the first time I saw it. Aside from the music being kick ass, the video was cool as shit..😂
TOTALLY appropriate response to the opening sequence and its sound effects: From Waldos' mom squeegeeing his hair down...to her "moaning"...to Waldos muted cries for help as the bus drives off. Is it any wonder that one of the first sounds we hear is a car crash, or, that Waldo feels that his socks are too loose? 😵💫LOL And if I'd have had a high school teacher that looked like Lillian Mueller, I wouldn't have been able to pay attention enough to learn the actual academics I was supposed to be learning there in the first place either. 😉
So glad you enjoyed this video. You have to leave all seriousness at the door when you watch "Hot for Teacher." Damn, this song and video make me miss the 80s.
In that opening sequence with Waldo and his mom Waldo’s voice is done by Phil Hartman, an SNL alum. One of the most talented and versatile Not Ready For Prime Time Players, Phil’s life was cut short when he was murdered by his wife in a tragic murder/suicide when he was just 49 years old.
The thing that sets up this video, is that in the beginning of the video, it shows each band member with a young boy that represents each Van Halen band member.
Dave has a... unique...imagination. Great rhythm section on this, and Edward is the king of raunchy guitar (Edward was to guitar what Elvis was to singing), which works perfectly for the topic of this song.
When Van Halen broke big in 1978, the selling point was Edward Van Halen's guitar skills... and David Lee Roth (lead vocals) wanted the band to make rock music that fans could move and dance to. Roth loved disco music and Van Halen would play covers of pop songs w/ vocal harmonies, and u can also hear that in early Van Halen songs. David Lee Roth was not the best live singer, but he had the resources to get the young Van Halen a rehearsal space in the 70's and had ideas to make the band a visual experience when they played shows... the rest of the band were stellar musicians - Alex Van Halen (drums), Michael Anthony (bass & backing vocals) and Eddie Van Halen (guitar/ keyboards/ backing vocals). When Gene Simmons of Kiss saw Van Halen play in 1976 at a Hollywood club, he was so impressed that he offered to help record the band's demos and showcase them to the music industry... However, Kiss' then-manager Bill Aucoin saw them perform and was not impressed w/ David Lee Roth's vocals. It took a while before Van Halen was finally signed by Warner Bros. Records in 1977. It was clear that Van Halen were going to be huge in 1978 when they opened for Black Sabbath on tour and were blowing them off stage at every show... Eddie's guitar playing... Roth's dynamic showmanship... and the band's energy onstage were a big hit w/ crowds... By 1979, Van Halen songs were all over radio and the band was headlining tours in America. By 1980, Van Halen was one of the biggest concert draws and selling millions of records... They scored hits like - 'Dance the night away'... 'And the cradle will rock' ... "Jamie's cryin' "... Women loved Van Halen because their music and image were so appealing. But there was internal trouble in the early 80's w/ drugs, alcohol and egos... David Lee Roth was the band's ringleader and he could also be controlling and demanding... If he did not like a track, he would not write lyrics or do vocals for it. When Eddie Van Halen started writing songs on keyboards, Roth was not eager to sing on those tracks... One was a keyboard-heavy track that became a #1 single 'Jump'. With the 4th album 'Fair warning' (1981), Van Halen was on the verge of splitting up from the dissent between Roth and the other 3 members... 5th album 'Diver down' (1982) had quite a few cover songs. MTV launched in 1981 and it was a huge platform for promoting new music by 1983... David Lee Roth wanted to get Van Halen into music videos, but their attempt at one was pretty laughable ... a Roy Orbison cover - "Oh pretty woman". But w/ the 6th album '1984'... Roth contacted Pete Angelus to produce a music video for the single 'Jump' and it was a huge hit on MTV w/ Roth showing off his acrobatic stage moves on camera... It was followed by the single 'Panama'... and 'Hot for teacher'... This was after Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' music video was huge, so many artists put dance sequences in their music videos (Van Halen were not good at it, but they pulled it off!) The album '1984' sold 10 million copies. However, it was the last record made by the original Van Halen. However, Van Halen on tour in 1984/ '85 was shaky... shows were selling out, but the alcohol and drug abuse was so bad that Roth was performing poorly, and the band was not getting along backstage, despite their 'fun' image. Eddie Van Halen was emboldened by the success of keyboard heavy singles like 'Jump' ... "I'll wait"... and he wanted to write more music w/ synthesizers... However, Roth objected, allegedly telling Eddie, "No wants to hear you play keyboards, Ed!" The final straw came when David Lee Roth recorded a solo EP of cover songs 'Crazy from the heat' (1985) which got videos on MTV and he hoped it would become a movie w/ him as the star... Van Halen objected and the band split w/ Roth soon after. In 1986, Van Halen hired veteran singer Sammy Hagar and released the album '5150'... it charted at #1 in the US and sold 6 million copies without any MTV music videos being filmed. David Lee Roth hired a stellar solo band w/ Steve Vai (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Greg Bissonette (drums) and released "Eat 'em and smile" in '86... Roth appeared on music videos for 'Yankee Rose' ... "Goin' crazy"... and the record went platinum. For a while, Roth was doing well, but his erratic choices led to decline by 1991 and Van Halen rode high without him until 1996.
I used to work in a warehouse. The big boss's son went to Vegas with his teacher. On break I would sit out in my car and blast this song. That was about 20 years ago. Well.... It is a great song musically wise. A real banger.
Here are a few more of their songs that are well worth a listen. "Running with the devil" "Jamie's cryin" "Ice cream man" "Panama" "Jump" "Why can't this be love"
The thing about Van Halen that really shines through, is that they knew how to have fun. A sense of humor is the key to living a life of joy. Something that is sorely lacking in the present time of being offended by everything.
I love everything Van Halen ever did. But my all-time favorite, id "Dreams". The video features performance footage from the US Navy's precision flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels. Such an inspirational, uplifting song!!
You're having so much fun with all that good old music... lovely! There are not many bands like this around any more, and of course no more music channels where you would get to see videos like this. And, seriously: where could you find another frontman like David Lee Roth? This guy lived for the stage!
This has always been one of my favorite songs, and it certainly didn't help that I married a hot teacher, not one of mine mind you, and much later than graduation. Tried to get her to let me play this at our wedding, but she wasn't having it though LOL
Eddie is the GOAT guitar composer innovator engineer sadly cigarettes took hom way too soon. He was a genius. I was blessed to see him 4 times. Last time folding chairs front of stage. Eddie does 10 minute solo and when done turns faces me/us and says " I aint shit without YOU!" imagine that.
THREE KEYS TO THE VAN HALEN SOUND: EDDIE’S GUITAR 🎸 ALEX’S SNARE DRUM 🥁 AND MICHAEL ANTHONY’S STRATOSPHERE BACKING VOCALS!!! VAN HALEN: I SAW ALL THE TOURS WITH ROTH FROM VAN HALEN 1 IN 1978 TO 1984 AND AGAIN IN 2013! I SAW 5150, OU812, FOR UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE AND BALANCE WITH HAGAR. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER EDWARD VAN HALEN!!! RIP EDDIE
The singer is David Lee Roth. He was the most popular member of the band. He pretty much owned the 80's. You should react to the music video for his song Yankee Rose.
Of all of the bands that came out of the 'Hair Metal Scene' of Los Angeles and Sunset Strip. Van Halen is the most fun and drew the largest audience of girls for the hard rock scene. For fun check out 'Ice Cream Man' or 'Happy Trails' they show a different side of the band in the early years. For just plain amazing rockers: 'Running with the Devil'; 'Unchained'; 'Jamies Crying'; 'Everybody wants Some'; and many, many more. Then there was the Sammy Hagar era of the band when David Lee Roth the singer you saw here was replaced. Great reaction and thanks for sharing.
You need to check out the "Jump" and "Panama" videos. Both from the same album (1984) as Hot for Teacher. The lead singer at this time is David Lee Roth (Diamond Dave). He left the group just after this album to strike out on his own.
This era of Van Halen consists of: David Lee Roth (Diamond Dave), lead singer; Eddie Van Halen, guitar and keyboards; Alex Van Halen (yes, Eddie's brother), drums; and Michael Anthony bass and backing vocals. The whole first era is full of hits both goofy fun ( this one and Ice Cream Man) and harder rockers (Mean Streets and Unchained). Still one.of the greatest party rock bands ever.
David Lee Roth was incredibly acrobatic back in the day. Part of it was down to the fact he trained in various martial arts, Kung Fu, Jeet kun do and Karate. He also practiced sword fighting. I think it was all that that he translated into his stage moves. (wait til you see his high kicks etc)
I was in 8th grade when this came out. Our math teacher was gone for a day and had warned us that if any of us got a detention from the sub, she would double it when she got back. My friend Roberto and I didn’t plan it at all but we walked into the sub's class a minute after the bell. I don't know what made me do it, or what even made me think of it, but when she said something about us being late, I slowly turned my head to look at the clock, turned my head slowly back to her and said, "aww man, I think the clock is slow. I don't feel tardy." Everyone busted up laughing and that was detention #1 for both of us. Later in class she asked a question about something and Roberto raised his hand. When she called on him, instead of answering, he said, "I brought my pencil, now give me something to write on man." Again everyone busted up laughing. I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. We both got a detention for his comment and I got an extra for leaving my seat. Then they were doubled the next day so I got 6 detentions in 1 class and Roberto got 4, all because of this song. To this day it's my favorite VH song.
There are endless debates over who’s the greatest rock band. Depending on who you ask, you’ll get a different answer. Some say The Beatles. Some Zeppelin. Some The Stones. Some Queen. How many times have you heard the name Van Halen? Probably a lot!
The building is John Marshall High School (L.A.). It had been closed prior to the video due to a lack of funding. Van Halen paid an undisclosed amount to rent the building, and the school was able to reopen with the additional funds! Great guys!!!

There are two eras of Van Halen. 1974-1985 the David Lee Roth years and 1985-1995 the Sammy Hagar years.
Both cranked out massive hits, each are worth a listen.
The Sammy Hagar years are cheesy.
The David Lee Roth years: Songs about fun, booze, parties, beaches, fast cars, and faster women.
The Sally Hagar years: Sappy love songs.

Muller has had Hollywood romances with hot celebrities from Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck to Playboy magazine mogul Hugh Hefner.
It for that
You gotta remember the Van Halen was the ultimate 80s party band. They wanted to make Metal that you could dance to. Every song during the David Lee Roth years is designed for dancing and having a good time.

R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen. Looking back now, it's amazing to remember how red hot Van Halen was in those days...
Welcome to the 80s when music was awesome and fun.
EXACTLY!
yep , it was special. Glad i lived it.
Thank God for normal boys!
When Aileen starts stuttering because she's so excited you know it's good! Love it 😊😊
I remember when this came out, Great song by a great band, Love it.
You can't help but have fun when you jam to this song. Thanks for reacting to it. Glad to see you enjoy it.
'Panama' is another great Van Halen video/song. RIP Eddie Van Halen
So cool to see you enjoy and appreciate the music that was around when I was a teenager. It was definitely a different time than today.
Van Halen with David Lee Roth on vocals is the American Led Zeppelin!
Saw them live in Stockholm 1984. Mötley Crue and AC/DC played the same day. A special day with Monsters Of Rock in Stockholm. 🤘🏻❤️
Was there too, amazing concert 🤘
@@mariodelarosa5722 from what I understand that the Intro beat to this song is based off an idling hot rod that's genius if that's true
Mom opens the door about a minute later, gets in and goes “oh, Van Halen, this is new isn’t it?”
Mom was cool. Went to see many concerts with her, unfortunately VH wasn’t one of them, wish it was. It’s funny how every generation of teenager has “their music”, the stuff only you got, your parents didn’t, this was ours. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, it was a magical period of time in music.
HAHAHA great story
Bless you for having a sense of humor and actually getting the humor and satire in this video and not being offended.
You got a new subscriber. 😊
Some other notables to check out:
Mean Street; Ice Cream Man; Pretty Woman; And The Cradle Will Rock; Running With The Devil; Panama; Drop Dead Legs………plenty to get you rolling really good with VH.
Legend has it the parents of the mini-me’s spent a long time after the video “in-Van Halening” their offspring.
Diamond Dave will always be the best front-man of any band, ever! Dude will never be topped.
I was impressed Aileen with your enthusiasm. Thats how it was thru the whole 80s for many of us. Magical decade and exceptional rock music. Great reaction. Its kinda twilight zome for me seeing younger people 40 years later rockin out. 😂😂😂
One of my other favorites by them is Jump! Also Eddie Van Halen played guitar on the Michael Jackson song Beat It.
This video came out in 1984 on their Van Halen 1884 album. Don't you remember? MTV played it night and day. Come On! I can't ve that old!!!!
David Lee Roth vocals, Alex Van Halen Drums, Michael Anthony Bass, and Edward Van Halen Guitar and Keyboards.
Great song for your introduction to Diamond Dave. All his silliness, dance moves, and signing are on full display.
Was 22 when came up always loved this group when 1st album came out
I hate that phrase “ didn’t age well “ I don’t give a flying rip what anyone else thinks. I like it . Always will.
What do you mean it didn't age well? kids are even hornier nowadays, especially the girls. Stop pandering to the modern no fun nonsense. It aged very well because it;s a timeless topic
You argue with people over a song? lol @@uv77mc85
This was their last album with David Lee Roth as their lead singer…until 2012.
Did you recognize that every band member had a matching school kid?
Best rock video of all time…to me!
I love the bits when the band is in suits attempting to dance together. So great, ha!
Welcome to our 80s teen years....there were not many bigger bands and everyone had this album either on cassette or vinyl, timeless rock for sure
David Lee Roth-singer
Eddie Van Halen-guitar
Michael Anthony-bass
Alex Van Halen-drums
I enjoy seeing the “youth” being introduced to “our music” and truly loving it!
Top 5 Greatest Band in my opinion. Greatest Frontman and The one and only Edward Frrreeaking Van Halen. 😊
The thing about Edward Van Halen is when you think that he hit the stratosphere he breaks through and as usual makes your jaw drop. The chemistry of the David Lee Roth years was undeniable. I'm 58, VH 1 shook the world in 1978.
SURPRISE! your reaction at the pause had me laugh until it brought a tear to my eye. Good song, Great video... RIP Eddy
EVH is the GOAT. Its cool she gave a shout out to Mike's bass work.
Ain't talkin bout love, is my favorite VH song. Always turn up the volume!!!
Eddy also played the solo on Michael Jacksons song Beat It.
Always loved this song and video!
No one can cancel it!!!
I love this song, but probably not the best to get a feel for Van Halen. 'Mean Street', 'Running With The Devil', 'Aint talking bout Love' are better choices.
This was very popular on MTV 1984
I graduated in 84. The 80s was a magic time to be a teenager.
Diamond Dave, Eddie, Alex, and Michael having a Blast! Fortunate enough to see them live in Detroit, Dave puts on an Amazing Performance, they all do!
Check out any VH Hit you'd like and also check out Dave's cover of "California Girls."
Thanks for the great reaction.
😵💫LOL
And if I'd have had a high school teacher that looked like Lillian Mueller, I wouldn't have been able to pay attention enough to learn the actual academics I was supposed to be learning there in the first place either. 😉
So glad you enjoyed this video. You have to leave all seriousness at the door when you watch "Hot for Teacher."
Damn, this song and video make me miss the 80s.
Leas Vocals- David Lee Roth
Lead Guitar- Eddie Van Halen.
Bass Guitar- Micheal Anthony,
Drums- Alex Van Halen
Michael Anthony is an AWESOME Bass Man, and doesn't get nearly the repsect he's due.
From me he does, and those backup vocals too.
Love Eddie’s solo on this one 🤘this was when bands made funny videos 😂😂
It was played on a 1958 Gibson, Flying V. A very unique sound, indeed!
This was after Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' music video was huge, so many artists put dance sequences in their music videos (Van Halen were not good at it, but they pulled it off!)
The album '1984' sold 10 million copies.
However, Roth objected, allegedly telling Eddie, "No wants to hear you play keyboards, Ed!"
The final straw came when David Lee Roth recorded a solo EP of cover songs 'Crazy from the heat' (1985) which got videos on MTV and he hoped it would become a movie w/ him as the star...
Dave had a fraze that was awesome!
" Gentlemen you can rain all you want But I will always be the Parade"
The thing about Van Halen that really shines through, is that they knew how to have fun. A sense of humor is the key to living a life of joy. Something that is sorely lacking in the present time of being offended by everything.
I love everything Van Halen ever did. But my all-time favorite, id "Dreams". The video features performance footage from the US Navy's precision flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels. Such an inspirational, uplifting song!!
Love this song. I once had a hot teacher. Thanks Ms J for putting up with us staring. ❤
You're having so much fun with all that good old music... lovely! There are not many bands like this around any more, and of course no more music channels where you would get to see videos like this. And, seriously: where could you find another frontman like David Lee Roth? This guy lived for the stage!
Eddie Van Halen was a god guitarist me miss him dearly this song was poetic and amazing
He left a hole in the world when he left.
I do love how much she loves bass and always calls out the dope bass lines.
Joyful fun song, and joyful fun watching you dig it!
Michael Anthony's contributions to the Van Halen sound are sorely underrated.
