Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip- Perfect for Movie or Game Night - Great with Chips and Vegetables!

- Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip
6 slices bacon, uncooked and chopped
1 cup onion, finely chopped
16 ounces sour cream
2 Tablespoons minced chives
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1/4 teaspoon salt
pinch of pepper
2 - 3 Tablespoons Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix
chips
sliced vegetables
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook the chopped bacon and onions, just until bacon is done. Remove from the skillet and drain well on a paper towel. Allow to cool.
In a medium bowl, stir together the bacon, onions, sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and ranch dressing mix.
Allow to sit in the fridge in an airtight container for at least an hour to fully chill, and for the flavors to blend together
Serve with chips and/or chopped vegetables.

I vote NO to banging! If you're banging on a plastic bowl, have at it. But if you are banging on glass, you could crack the glass, sending shards into your food, making the whole batch unsafe to eat. Ask me how I know!!! I just made it a habit not to bang, no matter what bowl I'm using.

We live in Kerrville, Texas, one of the major viewing locations of the eclipse! We are a small town, expecting 300,000+ visitors!!! All that to say, we live out from town on a hill, so we are hosting an eclipse party! This will DEFINITELY be one of the appetizers we serve!! My mouth is watering just watching Tom make the dip!! Yall are GREAT❤
I wish we could join your party for the eclipse. We are a few hours drive away from the total eclipse and we are a bit concerned about traffic issues trying to drive to see it. So enjoy the dip and in a teeny tiny way, we'll be there too!

I used vegan bacon; cheese ; sour cream and plant based Hidden Valley. This was absolutely delicious. Tom and Melissa , I have been able to alter most of your recipes to Vegan. No one could tell the difference until they were told. Love your channel.😊

They also stick their fingers in the food to mix it and arrange it and all sorts of other things you wouldn't believe! You are a super organized and inventive cook, Tom. They have themes for a lot of the dinners, and so your lasagna roll ups are for Italian night. You almost lost me when I saw the raw onion but you saved the day by frying them up well with the bacon. I have hated raw onions since birth but can eat them well cooked without barfing. 😝 I can't wait now to try this dip, no chives. And yes, real cooks do bang their spoons on bowls and pans and real cooks use their bare hands, no gloves.
