I’ve enjoyed your videos so much since I discovered your channel. Tom is such a good instructor when going through the video and Melissa does a fabulous job with recording. Thank you. Will be trying this recipe soon.
Your casserole looks delicious, but it looks like it would feed 5 to 6 people.there only 2 of us ,can you do half of the receipe? Enjoy your videos. Thank you!
He was a fifth grade teacher. And you're right, he was a great one. I might be a little biased, but I still see his teaching skills coming through in these videos. We really appreciate that you are watching our channel. Have a wonderful week.
There's the answer: Tom taught ALL subjects. And I agree with both of you - I'm thinking he was an excellent teacher. His teaching demeanor is just authoritative enough but laced with caring and compassion. Every time he ends a video with "you're always welcome to come and sit a my/our table" I want to respond "Sure, what time is dinner?" Melissa - Were you a teacher, too? Love your videos.
@@comesitatmytable9044 I'm 61 & to this day I remember my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Bishop. She was the best teacher I had in all my years of schooling. There just must be something about 5th grade teachers. Edit: I had put a comma after Mrs instead of a period.
You both seem like you enjoy each other’s company and work so well together:-). You go slow and explain the recipes so we can understand easily. Thanks for so many choices of different dishes. You have something for everyone 😉
Here's a tip if you don't have 4 hours to wait. I make a similar dish often. I throw rice on the bottom of a baking dish. Mix the soup mixture ( I haven't added cheese) .put chicken on top of rice - I usually use thighs. Pour soup mixture over the top. Bake for 45 min. It is delicious. The rice cooks nice and creamy with crispy edges. (My husband loves that bit. ). Sometimes I throw in herbs or spices, whatever you like! Or I'll use cream of mushroom if that's what I have. It's an easy and quick meal! I'm keen to try it Tom's way next time. Looks delicious.
I made bread pudding for Thanksgiving. It was a hit along with all the recipes of yours I have made. I have shared your channel with my children and others. Thank you Tom for taking the time and visually presenting. I also thank you Melissa for writing the directions and what is needed to prepare. The camera filming is on the mark. I know this recipe is a another winner.❤
Your wife is soooo blessed to have a hubby that cooks! That would be so nice! I love and enjoy cooking but it would be nice for a change tho! Bless you my lady for a chef!!!!
I love how you post oven temp and time many people forget to and your time for details! Love watching you two here in idaho everything I have cooked from your videos is delicious thank you sooo much.
Hey Tom and Melissa, I must tell you that several of your recipes including brown sugar bacon were featured over our Thanksgiving holiday and they were all hits with the family. Our granddaughters loved the brown sugar bacon. They ate it all! Thank you for all of your delicious recipes.
About 2 hours into cooking time I added broccoli florets cut a little smaller,I added 3/4 of the bag. The kids didn’t even complain about the broccoli.
I made a similar soup today. It was a great idea. Thank you for the inspiration. Yes. I have a slow cooker with a lid like yours, and I always put the clamps on. I read the directions too. 😃
I’m gonna try this w Turkey I froze. I appreciate your videos so much. Great detail & options. I love you’re organized & neat & clean as well because I clean as I go. I really appreciate Melissa having the recipe written out so I can easily reference back to it, so many that do the videos either want you to screenshot the recipe at the end or write it as you go and that’s not always convenient when you’re questioning something and you want to reference back real quick just being double sure so I really appreciate the recipe written out. Even if I’m going to the store and I’m thinking that I forget something I can click on it double check it and yes or no on what I may may not need. Thank you very much you’re both appreciated in my book. Also I wanted you to know I made the sweet potato soufflé fabulous and it is cold too. This recipe looks so good! I’m glad you included an oven version. While I love the convenience of a slow cooker, I don’t feel comfortable leaving the house while it’s on. I blame it on the TV show ‘This Is Us’ for my insecurities😂. I may even try it in the Instant Pot instead.
How long do you think for the instant pot??? Im trying this now in the instant pot, but set to slow cook on high. it doesnt seem to be getting hot enough to cook this in 3.5 - 4 hours. I was thinking going to instant pot mode and cooking for 1 hour. i just worry about the rice turning to mush!!!
@@n8sot I was thinking about pressure cooker mode too since I can be home while it’s cooking. I’ll have to look into the rice issue. Maybe have to make separately. I love how the pressure cooker makes it taste like it’s been cooking all day but a fraction of the time.

I hope you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. I look forward to all the recipes you have lined up for Christmas and the days leading up to it! I made your broccoli casserole and the hash brown casserole for Thanksgiving and they were great. Thanks for those recipes.
When using brown rice it just takes a little more water. I do the same thing, and use the same thing to cut up my bacon 🥓!!!!! By the way I made the brownies that you had on your channel and the frosting and it was a big hit. It is a different recipe but dang good!!! I love the slow cooker bags and you can cook any thing in the slow cooker with them and then never have to clean up the slow cooker unless the bag leaks. Obviously they didn’t read the directions on the slow cooker because I have the same one and yes your right you are to lock the lid!!!!! I think the chicken cut up in bite size would be better.

My family calls green beans with bacon grease greasy beans. We love them. This recipe looks delicious… I cut up most of my leftover ham, vacuum sealed it for cooking in beans or black eyed peas. We’ve ate ham every day since Thanksgiving. It will be gone after supper tonight. Getting tired of ham although it was great on homemade biscuits with tomato preserves yesterday. I spent all day in the kitchen cooking a big pot of butter beans for my lawn guy along with peanut butter fudge and made him a big bowl of beer cheese. I’m now looking forward to very little cooking this week and shopping for Christmas breakfast groceries… Have a blessed day. I’m blessed even though it’s Monday and I’m working 11 hours.. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

Good morning Tom & Melissa, this looks so good and it is a wonderful recipe. This is ideal during a busy time of any season, you know you will be able to sit down and enjoy a wholesome delicious meal. I would like to make this as all the ingredients are easily available here, just a different brand name for the soup. A green vegetable always balances out a rich dish so a green salad would also be most welcome. I can imagine the house being a bit quiet after the friends/family have departed, there are always the good memories you have during their stay, so that is a consolation. Can I share a Chicken Bake recipe with you, it is so easy, I have been making this for years, it is always welcome and so enjoyable. I will give the full ingredients then you can half it or after preparation before baking divide the ingredients into 2 dishes, one for baking on the day and the other for a freezer dinner. It also is not expensive. Thank you for sharing and showing, you are such an encouragement for newly home owners, brides or even for somebody that is not too sure of their cooking skills. Many blessings, kind regards, Elize.
Thank you so much for watching our channel and we'd love your recipe for the chicken bake. Tom has collected recipes for years and when I'm reading a book, he's often reading recipes! He will be so happy to receive yours. I'm not sure how you want to share it with us, but our contact information is in the description box if that helps you. Thanks so much for watching our channel. Hey Tom and Melissa! This was a fantastic recipe! I made this tonight using the last of our leftover turkey. So tasty! I just left out the chicken and added the cooked turkey for about 30 minutes.
I found your YT page late in the year, but I am so glad I did! Your home cooked meals and comforting presentation make me feel warm inside! 😆 Thank you for sharing all these wonderful foods! Happy Holidays and be safe!!

New subscriber here. Love your simple, somewhat old-fashioned recipes. They remind me sooo much of my Nanny's recipes (my Grandmother was only 38 when I was born and refused to be called Granny 🤭). Melissa is so good with the camera and 🙌🏻 to Tom. I know your tongue has to be scorched from all the steaming, hot things you eat!! 😂😂😂
Hope y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, our was made better with you recipes and I can't wait to make this one. Keep up the amazing job. I look forward to each new recipe. I finally got through all of your videos, God bless you and your family. Thank you for the work in printing the full recipes. I don't know another cook has this done. Some will list the ingredients and that's it. I cannot thank you enough. 🤗🥰🙏🙏🙏😋
That would be great for a carry in dinner. If I was making this for just my family I would add frozen peas or broccoli about 45 minutes before it was done. and then fruit for dessert. I love one dish meals, especially in the crockpot, so I can go sew and forget about the next meal. Thank you for another great recipe.
I would want to thaw the peas or Broccoli before adding them to the dish. I really prefer using fresh Broccoli and/or mushrooms to frozen, but to each their own likes and tastes.
@@RataPerry I would prefer fresh also but do not always have it on hand and I live too far from the store to dash out and get it. I would however use fresh if I had them on hand. or planned in advance to make the recipe. I would never thaw frozen peas or broccoli since the package says to cook them without unthawing. The wonderful thing about today's frozen veggies is they are flash frozen and retain most of their vitamins if not overcooked. To each their own likes and tastes.
Thank you for sharing this, I will definitely make this. I made your 5 cup salad and your cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and they were a hit! Thank you again for sharing. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Hi Tom & Melissa, I made the cranberries for Thanksgiving dinner and they were a big hit. I’ll keep this recipe for years to come. I have a recipe that I add chunks of apple, drained crushed pineapple, and pieces of pecans, oh so yummy too. Those are all added to taste. Thank you for the recipe it is a keeper.
I've so thoroughly enjoyed all your videos and I"ve made alot of the recipes. I tried this one, and did it in the oven. Just an FYI, I tried this recipe in the oven at the suggested time and temperature. The rice did not cook through. I tried it at 350 degrees for another 30 minutes, it came out much better! Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos!

Hey Tom and Melissa! This was a fantastic recipe! I made this tonight using the last of our leftover turkey. So tasty! I just left out the chicken and added the cooked turkey for about 30 minutes.
Ok I just had a plate of this that I made today. And like Tom says....it's absolutely delicious.
Tom that looks fantastic. Going to order the chicken for delivery today and make it for dinner tonight. 👍
👍👍👍😋😋😋 you guys are awesome
Great job Tom and Melissa, another fine recipe for us to enjoy. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Nothing better than a great tasting casserole I like that I could easily half the recipe as I cook just for one. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I watch a lot of cooking channels. And I like your recipes the best. ❤
I found your YT page late in the year, but I am so glad I did! Your home cooked meals and comforting presentation make me feel warm inside! 😆 Thank you for sharing all these wonderful foods! Happy Holidays and be safe!!
I have no idea how I came across your channel (probably down a rabbit hole), but I am so glad I did. I’ve made a couple of your recipes already.
Happy Holidays!
I love watching his videos ❤
Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack would be a great alternative cheese.
I’m also thinking Mushrooms 🍄 in this
I've never seen a slow cooker with a lockable lid.
Good idea
It does a really nice job. And the lid is great for traveling and taking your food in the slow cooker with you. We love taking it to potluck meals at church or at a friend's house.
YUM!!! Can’t wait to try this!! Shared already!
Thank you so much for watching our channel and we really do appreciate that you are sharing our channel with your friends. It's so nice to have kind people like you helping our channel to "grow." We hope you are having a great day!
I do love your channel. Wish I had found it sooner 😊
Making this for my family today 🥰
Hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much for watching our channel.
Thank you both for this recipe it looks delicious and I will definitely be making it !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Looks marvelous. I am making the same in the oven. Cannot wait to eat it.

And we love and appreciate that you are watching. Thanks so much for the encouraging comment. We truly do appreciate it.
Now that’s what I’m talking about for an after Thanksgiving easy meal. Thanks to the both of you!
Merry Christmas!
To each their own likes and tastes.
made this today for sun dinner , got told it was a keeper !
This absolutely delicious.
Thinking I might try this w leftover ham. Thanks for sharing ❤
I am definitely making this.... I might consider cutting up some potatoes in slices and adding those.
Making this one for sure. 👍
Looks amazing. Gotta try this! 👍👍
I love this recipe! Will forsure try it.
Looks amazing, I will have to try this,, my son would love it . Thanks for sharing guys! Love watching you cook. You are my favorite channel! Keep up the good work!
