Gameplay was fun, but it commits a roguelike cardinal sin: the in-run upgrades feel bad. Particularly the relics. If they make those more impactful, this has a ton of potential.
Eh, it worked fine enough in the original version. I think my issue with it is that it’s *uggo* (in my opinion obviously)
Yeah 1st one had some imo minor design flaws that really held it back from being 5/5, still amazing game tho. Really looking forward to seeing what the team has this time around for WoL2! :)
Relics are pretty minor, but you can end up collecting a lot of them in a single run.
WoL in general is about finding synergies and combos that add up to more than the sum of the individual parts.

@@elnogal9298 Yeah in games like Hades, Nuclear Throne, or Isaac, you’re more looking for individual boons (or duo boons)/weapons/items that break the run wide open imo.
Still sad we didnt get a pixelated version for the sequel. I get why they did it, but it had a certain charm.
I agree 100% if this game aint a 5/5 i wont buy it only thanks to them abandoning what made WoL the champ it is!
It’s good to hear that the pixel style is liked! I’m working on my own pixel art roguelike, so in a few years, maybe it will fill that gap! I’m definitely taking some inspiration from WoL
I honestly love that they kept the Local Multiplayer and implemented LAN and Network Multiplayer for up to 4 players - you don’t see that very often anymore
I loved the first game. I actually like the Isometric 3D look as well since I think it makes dodging and avoiding pits a little easier (maybe that’s just me though).
I swear, first fifty hours of this game I lost more HP dashing into pits than I saved avoiding attacks

Yeah. It's a good art style, but moving so far away from the previous one that was so iconic is sad to see. Haven't played yet tho

The art isn't really my problem,i just hate how much it looks and feels like Hades now
Sadly it doesn't feel like the first game and feels too much like Hades rn....i still prefer the first game over this one (maybe after it officially releases I'll change my mind)

Looks aside, gameplay wise it felt sluggish to me. Something both I and Haelian have done is to basically run around to align enemies for a piercing attack, and mostly ignore the normal attack unless 1v1. I don't remember this being much of an issue before.
I'll play it when the co-op drops, but man, did they drop the ball here. I remember how much you could do in the first game with all the combos, stun locking enemies to death, and since the impact of your spells felt much more crispier, you really were feeling like an absolute force of nature. You still had to be careful, don't get me wrong, but you really were feeling like an archmage.
Here, you feel like this is the first time you are even using spells, you feel not like a soon-to-be legend, more like a very out of place novice.
Wow the new game really took inspiration from Hades - I guess this year will be the birth of a new genre: Hadeslike

I haven't got much time yet, but it combat feels pretty good. I'm interested in how co-op will work.
Gameplay seems pretty good so far. Spell casting looks like it's as buttery smooth as the first game which is nice since chaining together really high impact abilities was so crucial to the first game.
Not sure how I feel about the art style though. It's certainly not bad, but it is DISTINCTLY different than the first game.
Very different which I can understand. My main thing is that everything is SO smol in the current build.

Btw you can kill critters and smash pots when you run into them while sprinting

Not sure how I feel about the new art style, but I loved the first game so this one will be an easy pickup for me.
Man, idk if I can handle this game. I tried the demo and I could barely get past the first area. And those bosses look insane. Really cool, just might be too difficult for me. 😅
Idk about this. Haven't played it long, 20 mins so far but i've made it to the 1st boss. It feels way slower than the original, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but i didn't vibe with it. Also it's honestly more like a Wizard of Legend 3D than Wizard of Legend 2 imo.
The original was a perfect game. Seeing what it's become and learning that the original devs aren't behind it is disappointing, to say the least.

Sad they went away from pixel art but it's always understandable. Artstyle reminding me a lil too much of hades ngl, it looks great tho.
I loved the first game. Maybe its the art direction and the voice acting but I'm just not feeling this one.
I think you "evade" when you dash in the game, atleast I am pretty sure thats what happened in the first game.
I really don't like it. Original felt more unique, and this feels like they're trying to make a hades clone. The sequel isn't even made by the same devs.
3D art style is ugly, combat is slower and clunkier, the upgrades don't feel impactful, and the dialogue is cringe.
So true, everything feels like a cheap copy of the original with devs that has no clue what the vision the old developers had. So many things thats wrong or missing like the dash arcana, also the uppgrades for the arcanas was base arcanas in the old game so many "uppgrades" youst swotch to another arcana that should be pickable before you go out. Im kinda suprised they havent gotten further with the game since they are copying almost everything from the old game.
I'm somewhat disappointed. The first game felt great to beat because you had almost no meta progression, the dash did not have an - only a few skills did - and enemies were hyper aggressive in tight enclosures. Every fight felt like it could be the last one. And healing was very very scarce.
This iteration so vanilla in comparison. I'll still play it tho, coop is the most fun one can have in roguelikes imho
