I think the shields might have some of most interesting and fun builds in the game, you have Beo with Poseidon just erasing everything, Merciful End on Zeus is insane, everything is crazy with this thing
Zeus shield with poseidon special and the Zeus Poseidon duo boon. A tempest of pure raw DPS.
Idk why but i seriously struggle with shields. I know they are strong but I just always struggle
@@1TieDye1 tip. With Zeus try to get a flat damage boost like Zeus(or a stacking status like Hangover and Chill) on the Special and learn how to play around it. With the others (especially Chaos) use your special to apply status effects and/or remember to use the range to your advantage. With Beowulf, liberally use its unique mechanic and try to boost the shit out of your cast. Use hit and run tactics on the bosses, charge in with the unique mechanic and get away, remember that you take more damage. Also remember that you can block attacks with the shield, this is something that I tend to forget a lot. Hope this helps^ _ ^
Holy crap literally yesterday I was looking up Beowulf deep dives to better understand the weapon and was looking for something from you but couldn't find anything and then BOOM you post the next day. Feels like you made this for me haha.

Well, the most recent unseeded WR is with Beowulf and Poseidon's cast, so (putting aside room randomness) it's definitely a powerful weapon. It's also definitely difficult to get a hang of, because (especially with Stygian Soul) you have to remain mindful of how many casts you have.
Regular any heat, modded any heat, 32 Heat, modded 32 heat, and 40 heat are all Beowulf. It’s the best weapon in the game
@Sajan Ramanathan Well, apparently, I suck at it since I can't even get out of Tartarus in less than 3 IGT minutes with it.
Either that or my luck sucks since I always seem to get high-spawn rooms...

@@shinigamimiroku3723 I feel like Beo is usually pretty consistent, obvi bad room luck can still mess you up though. What sort of heat/mirror/keepsakes are you running? I recommend just EM2 + FO1 for starting out with Beowulf, for keepsakes and mirror just follow what's shown in this video. Also it's critically important to rebind cast to one of the triggers if you're on controller. Always dash strike into the bull rush (never go from standing attack, that's much slower) and load casts while charging the rush to save time. Happy to give additional help as needed, Duunk0 also has a great beowulf speedrunning tutorial. Good luck!

@@shinigamimiroku3723 Ok so the big thing I would say is DO NOT use stygian soul with poseidon cast. Having multiple casts is critical, and picking them up is quite easy with beo because they drop right where you finish the bull rush (as opposed to e.g. lightning phalanx poseidon sword, where the casts just go wherever). The benefit from stygian is just not that much, especially compared to the risk that you won't get +1 cast from chaos.
Second thing, I actually recommend FO1 when learning Beowulf. I know must speedruns use FO2 but beowulf is slow and chunky, enemies can potentially move away before you finish the cast if you're using FO2 (this is especially bad in asphodel, where the enemies jump around a ton). At the very top level people use FO2, but they can also be extremely precise with their casts because they've played for so long (also they are willing to risk consistency for small time saves because all top level runs are fundamentally risky and inconsistent). But if you prefer FO2 go for it, this is not nearly as important as the first tip.

Just unlocked Beowulf last night so this is a very timely video for me. I can see that it is indeed powerful! I like the shield aspects anyway because they are so versatile. Nice run!

One thing worth mentioning about the Daddy fight is that his point-blank spear throw might not be blocked. Learned it the hard way (and I'm sure I was blocking in the right direction, since for a second after your death you can see how the enemy attacked you)
I believe it is blockable.
@@Haelian It's blockable from the distance, but when Hades is right in front of you - no (at least not always). This is the scenario where it happened to me (2 or 3 times): I'm hiding in the corner, with my last bit of health remaining, holding my shield, waiting for some pattern when I can safely attack. I block all skull/spin/laser attacks without problems. Then, he throws a spear from a kissing distance, and I die.
@@Haelian I just reproduced it (the link is in the next comment since I'm not sure how accepted are links in the comments). It seems to be pretty inconsistent: sometimes it blocks, sometimes not.
@@Haelian Is charged shot the best hammer here? Or is it detrimental because you don't travel with the attack?
@@levipeterken4020 Still easily the best hammer by far, nothing else comes close. High base damage, it also pierces shields.
You can also charge it unloaded, then spam cast after the charge.

Hey I would love some advice for the harder weapons for 32 Heat. Things like Sword (Nemesis or even Poseidon) are weapons I struggle with and it seems like the damage celling is just so much lower.
Athena's dash semi-mandatory for melee weapons like Nemesis, after that lots of crit stuff from Artemis like Hunter's Mark. Try to get Double Edge from the hammer, not much else does a whole lot for that aspect sadly. Here's a video for it ua-cam.com/video/RVfxOyOtrP0/v-deo.html
Nemesis is my favourite weapon just roll for Artemis boons
I personally like the goofy modded runs now and then. I wouldn't want you to try to make that into your main content though. The other games you've been showing off have been quite fun :)

I wish I liked the load-Cast weapons, Hera and Beowulf, but I just do not lol. I can get sub nine minute run times with every other weapon, but those two just feel so clunky. Anyone else have this experience?

Asked this on the subreddit and they didn't know. I know that once you have 4+ gods, you are only ever offered gods within the pool unless you force them through a keepsake. But does a 1-3 god pool change the odds of who gets offered in any way? Are you more or less likely to see gods in or out of your god pool? In other words, if I have 3 gods in my pool, do they still all have an equal (1 in 8?) chance of showing up?
You are more likely to see a new god until the pool is full but I do not know the exact odds.
I'd also like to add that the game doesn't limit you to 4 gods until you actually pick up your 4th. So if you enter Styx with 1-3 gods, it may offer you enough gods via paths/shop to push you to 5+.

I'm surprised the boon that deals damage to bosses on knock back is so bad. Because you don't knock back bosses, I would expect it to be better than the other tier 2 boons.

It's a good build, which will have better damage Dio or Pos cast? But duo with Artemis is so OP. I will try Dio with Beo. Great vid btw.

You mentioned a “god pool”, could you explain that? I think I noticed that I naturally get more of the same god, but I’m not sure exactly how it works.
The first 4 gods you gain a Boon from are the 4 gods RNG can make you get the rest of the run. There are exceptions and changes to this rule, for example Hermes and Chaos works on completely separate systems than the god pool, and the god keepsakes can allow you to get more gods into the god pool if you take their Boon, making your god pool larger than the usual capacity of 4. I do not remember if I have covered everything about the god pool, but this is the basics of it =)

Dan with treasure troves do you think there's away for them to improve them for late game players. I think after a certain point I just stopped looking at them. Not sure how but would love to hear your thoughts on it. More in a sense for hades 2. I know they're not gonna update the game now
Hmm good question. I think if the timer was paused during them, they would become actually usable in high heat and even VERY helpful when offering Obols. Also would be good for people do speedruns and going by the in game timer.

What would be the "easiest" aspect/build to clear 32 heat for the first time?
My first 32 heat clear was with eris rail, but I honestly think Beowulf is the easiest. It’s very safe but also extremely fast, so TD3 is free. Haelian also has a heat guide on his channel if you need.
Maybe chaos shield, that is good one too
Hestia rail is a pretty simple but very effective aspect that easily clears Tartarus boonless, grab Artemis attack, then basically any duo boon that you prefer from there. Although what are you running for the Pact?
32 heat with or without EM4? With EM4 the easiest would be some shield (primarily Beowulf), since it'll help you to survive in the Hades fight (especially in situations like 33:22). Otherwise, it doesn't really matter: just take your favorite weapon/aspect which works fine with forced overtime (this one is quite mandatory, so Arthur is out) and damage control (even if you don't take it, some armored enemies can apply shields; for damage control, Hera and Hestia are out). So good aspects would be Nemesis, Achilles, Beowulf/Chaos (Zeus is very good, but needs practice), Chiron/Rama, doesn't really matter for fists, Eris.
Some good suggestions here, I got a 32 heat guide with build suggestions too in it. TLDW: probably Hestia rail and make sure Reload and bound to an easy button.
