The best part about your videos is that you're straight to the point, clear, concise and they're effectively edited. It's a delight to watch your videos that don't need to be skipped to 30% in for the relevant part to actually start, and without any useless talk about irrelevant crap. When I click any of your videos I know I will begin learning what the video is about as soon as it starts, clearly, effectively and concisely. I love it.
Thanks for the positive comment!
Agree totally......very high quality here
Ditto. Excellent info, filming, and editing!
Spot on... down to the point but detailed enough to understand the steps.
Will the polishing compound maintain this look, used occasionally, without reapplying a clear coat ? Thanks !!!!!!
Top job fella and have always thought about doing similar, and your no waffle or annoying music (as many videos use) explained everything needed to see and know what to do
I did this one to wheels that were heavy curbed.. had to do a little more but sanding and polishing helped tremendously. Also.. u can use metal polish to give it a shine as well. Great Video by the way 👍🏽
Another excellent clear straight forward vid. Ive started doing my caravan alloys and they are coming up great! Thanks again 👍
You make it look easy, your directions are great, very precise, the results were amazing. I agree with the other's about final step of a clear coat for protection of all your hard work. Thank you
Yes thanks
I just discovered your channel and I subscribed. You saved me alot of money I was going to take my rims to a rim repair shop but not now I've already started on them and they are going to look awesome. Thank you for the no nonsense videos God Bless
Thank you more similar content coming 👍
Great video, the close up of the wheel at each sanding stage is very helpful. That white diamond is serious stuff.
Great job and very well edited video. No messing about just straight to the point. Subscribed
Brilliant video and it’s nice to see you do part of it and show how they were explaining what you need to do
Flipping heck I have been watching a set of alloys on ebay with some issues for ages now, you my friend have just made me buy them. They had the exact same corrosion mark on them as the ones you were doing, and I know now that I have seen your No frills n crap, straight to the point, No Sh%& video's, I know I can do it myself. Thank you for the No fancy No frills vids. We need more of these on UA-cam.
Thank you for giving a UA-cam brother confidence and saving him cash.. 🙂
Beaucoup de travail..de patience. Et..du Resultat.
Bravo
Another great video, probably too lazy to try but great that you are sharing this.Thank you!
Brilliant, just finished 1 of my 18” 2013 qashqai wheels following your vid, 3 wheels to go, hell of a difference thx👍🏻

You are amazing. You are great. You do such great and interesting videos that I want to do this myself and see what happens. I have rims that are damaged. Thank you.

Outstanding sir ! Well done 👍
You did right like no others top of the top keep it up. Thanks a lot
great work buddy
Great video and very straight to the point terms of style, can’t believe we pay so much to have our wheels done and you make it seem so simple.. May give this a try on my diamond cut alloys, and just head down to my local DIY store for the sand paper and metal polish..
You're overpowered man that was an epic job !!
Great vid really helpful and to the point.
Superb finish
Wow...your hands are fast😁great video
nice job my friend keep them videos coming
Great Rim Job!
Thanks! I have this exact problem on some old wheels and i'll use this method.
Terrific job and explained well 👍😬
Lucky for you you were working on the flat sections 🙂

Nice resto!
Great job .Thanks for the tips . I've already began on my gti Monza wheels .
👍
Were you successful refinishing your Monzas? I have the Detroit wheels (very similar) and the clear coat is peeling and there is moisture underneath.
this video is so satisfying to watch.. Thanks :)
Incredible again pal I’ve had to subscribe to your channel love your work clever guy
Brilliant job 👍👍
Verry good video :) Thats how you need to do. Clearcoat not needed
Looks awesome!
wow... great job!
Followed the steps for my wheels, great results
How long per wheel
@@martingreene8032 Probably 2-3hrs
Great video!! Thank you.
The Recipe is: you need to wipe off every scratch with sand paper (I used for my deeper scratches 120(dry) > 320(dry) > 500(wet) > 800 (wet) > 1000 (wet) > 2000(wet) ), then polish it to 'mirror' effect with Autosol for Aluminium or Metal, degrease it and then spray it when it's completely dry. I suggest to use hands only. Do NOT use any machines for that because you can make it even worse. Alloy wheels are very soft.
I’ll crack on then. Thank you for this very informative video.
Great job!!
Very nice job great video
Great work, say no more!
After doing this would I best finishing over with a clear coat on them or just keep on top of polishing them ?
great video . i will need it very soon
It needs to be clear coated . Otherwise it will corrode or oxidize and the whole work gone down the drain. I have been through that myself with my diamond cut wheels.
wrong. ceramic coat. no more flaky clear
@neindochoohh7955 so there is a coat, then yes, clear lacquer (which most of the time is useless) not needed.
@@mariuszkorycki8042 right. clear coat will always fail on Aluminium
Could the old clear coat be remover with a solvent this would save a lot of sanding and only need polishing and a new clear coat applied.
Hi how can I clean the curb rash off my black 20 inch 10’spokes AMG alloys. Can you possibly do a vid on the subject
Great job
such a nice work. ilive around tampa area, can i get it done for my car?
You’ve just saved me £400. Thanks so much
yo thanks very much bro. this was very helpful 💖
Great video as always! Can you do a video on restoring 3 piece split rims? 😬
Lovely old job 👍🏿
hello. would this work on diamond cut wheels? thanks
many thanks. great video.
I bought a new car and unfortunately scratched my front left chrome alloy with 2 scratches (Not so big but obviously hurts a lot to look at them like that). I don't want to get them painted as it isn't that bad either but surely want to try to get it removed. have 2 questions
Have 2 questions
1. Do we only use the sanding on the damaged part? also, do we use wet sanding or dry?
2. when did you use the rubbing compound?
Thanks, Great video. I'm sure that the elbow grease cost more than the materials :)
Good job 👍👍👍
All this hard work and if it were to be left like this it would stay this good for long. You need to clearcoat the rims to protect against the elements, also this will make your rims shine more. ✨️ 😎☝️
Well explained. Will you finish with a clear coat or continuous polish?
cheers 4 that. Ill be trying that tomorrow.
Can this method be done on diamond cut alloy wheels which has small scrufs and scratches??
Incredible again pal I’ve had to subscribe to your channel love your work clever guy
Could you use an orbital sander as they are the sanding disks you are using?
Really great video. I always learn so many great things. Thank you.
hey thanks
Nice, but do you know how long it took me to find a tub of elbow grease?A week... Not many stores stock it these days. I was also after some Blinker fluid for my indicators because they have developed a miss.Blinker fluid was hard to get also but I managed to find some. After a drain. flush & top up my indicators are perfect again.
Would you not need a clear coat for protecting the metal on the long run????
David Joyce you should put clear coat if you sand the whole rim
@@ash8283 K, I have this exact same problem on my wheels. the paint behind the diamond cut surface is perfect. But I was going to use scotch pads to scuff up the paint behind the diamond edge after I sand off the laquer on the face edge and then lacquer the whole wheel. I thought the paint in the background would start to peel eventually as there is an edge created from sanding off the lacquer on the face edge.
Yes. I’ve had polished wheels before. You gotta keep them clean
Polished aluminum spots really bad so you have to repolish after getting wet if you don’t wipe down. But just polish not the entire process.
UNBELIEVABLE! GOOD JOB, MATE!
Hey how long take you to do this in each wheel ?
You think per wheel this cost you 10 dollar per wheel ?
I'm asking this questions because I'm thinking in add this to my business
Great video! Do you clear coat again at the end?
Love the video! Quick question, did you put clear coat on your rims after polishing? Is the oxidation not gonna come back if you don't put clear coat on it?
Eventually the polish washes off sometimes very quickly. I always use clear coat over top and instead of polish I use 1500 grit sand paper and water to polish it. Afterwards use 2k glamor clear or whatever clear coat you want to use. That will protect the finish and unlike wax it won't wash off. If you want to use his method I always use a 1/4 die grinder instead of 180 on bad curb damage then 220 then 600. If its not bad 220 grit to start then 600 grit wet sanded. I skip all the other sand paper. It would take me about 10-15 mins per wheel on a wheel like this.
Where can I get the grit papers? UK based. Struggling to buy them for the price you've mentioned. Thanks
nice sharing brother....
love ur voice!
Do you need to spray with clear coat laqucer to secure the finish?
If I use a Dremel will it turn out the same? If so what grit would I need for it?
This works well but keep in mind the aluminum will oxidise quickly which will require a polish occasionally
I was thinking that too.. maybe clear the whole wheel after sanding?
@@johnbonham617 Once you put a layer of metal polish on them once a year they wont lose the shine.
Good vid, was thinkin about buyin new wheels as my bbs lm reps arr starting to corrode ill be doing this too sort them
would i need to put clear coat afterwards?
You have beautiful hands.
Love the video! Am just going through this now with my Dacia alloys, do you reckon I'd need to clear coat them to stop any oxidising or will they look relatively fresh if I just leave them polished?
Thanks brilliant
many Thanks UdayaChowdary ART DIRECTOR
A lot of serious work there.
I had a 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol, with custom clear coated gold painted and aluminum trimmed wheel rims, that I kept up very well for nearly 20 years.
Then the car got stolen in 2012, but the last 5-6 years I had this auto, the clear coated aluminum wheel rims started to show this exact same type of corrosion under the clearcoat. Just around the aluminum perimeter of the rims.
I wish I knew about this method then, although I would have done all this work and my car probably would have STILL got stolen and would have been even more upset than I was if I had done all of that work to get those wheel rims looking brand new, again!
How long long did it take you to do that one rim?
That wheel rim looks like a pretty large rim and a whole bunch of hard work and elbow grade to get it to the finished look you achieved.
The custom rims on my Honda were rims for R15 tires
Hey good work! thanks
Can i use polishing machine for this work without destroying the wheel?
Never knew Connor mcgregor was making car videos as well lol. Nice!!!
I feel like that rim was the perfect candidate for air tool sanding and polishing because the work area was so flat...well done!
Are these diamond cut? Works the same?
Hi, If you did fancy to clearcoat the wheel after the polishing would you need to key the painted parts beforehand with a grey scouring cloth for example??
Yes that is proper.. or more grab use the red scotch bright... Sanding is key for clearcoats or paints to stick..mask all the other areas off. 2k spray can clear would be fast and cheap
I am just wondering about the 101 who disliked this video🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔! Top job mate! Keep it up!
do you need to clear coat it afterward? i think my rim has a clear coat. was told could turn white chalky if you dont
Will you teach us how to remove interior trim and wrapping on your audi a6?
new project car bought audi a6 should have it next week
Will this take out the dimond cut on the wheels?
Does this work on Gemini Alloy wheels for tesla Model Y? The rims are smooth but im not sure if there is a clear coat or actual paint on the rims. They are stock gemini wheels.
You could re-lacquer them after this too though?
very well done. thank you so much. instead of sending my rims doctor rims .
