Hey! If you’ve seen this before, no need to watch again! This is the same video posted a couple weeks ago! It’s all the same just with part of it edited out. Here’s why it’s edited: There was a location in the video (Mt Vernon Virginia, which was once a plantation that participated in the enslavement of Black & African people during the 18th and 19th century), where I first modeled my dress, that a lot of people were uncomfortable with and some were genuinely hurt by. My bird-brained self was thinking only of the ~pretty scenery~ and didn’t take time to consider the fact that the horrid reality of slavery once happened there. I hate that so much I caused a reminder of that, and if you reading this right now are one of the people hurt by it,I’m sorry. I did not think it through. It’s easy as a white person to ignore these types of things, in a way that other people don’t get to. So I edited out all shots featuring that location. I want my channel to be an escape from the rough, serious, painful parts of life. It’s always been my goal to keep things as light as possible, to give distraction and inspiration to whoever needs it. To know that I failed at that and messed it up by reminding people of something so incredibly awful… dang. All I can say is that I’m sorry. I’m going to think my actions through more going forward, and expand my understanding by listening. Finally, thank you to the people who brought this to my my attention. I know it wasn’t your job to, but I appreciate the opportunity to learn from different perspectives.
I think it’s safe to say that the costumes in “Colonial Woman Awaiting Her Husband’s Return From The Revolutionary War” are more historically accurate than most period dramas.
It's really sad. Karolina Zebrowska did a video poking fun at the fact that Hollywood makes things too modern and how if they didn't it wouldn't stop the people from wanting to watch the movie if it was more period.
@@Noanyouknow Micarah posted a video that includes shots from a place that was formerly a plantation, and people were incredibly uncomfortable, but she edited it out in this new version.
Story time, once I forgot the name of this chanel and I accidentally recommend Mariah Cary instead of Micarah tewers to my friend so they were really confused about why I recommend a singer to them. 😅🤣
Every time I watch one of Micarah’s videos I think “yeah, I could make a dress like that! She makes it look so easy!”. And then I think of how it took me an hour just to thread a sewing machine a few weeks back, so never mind.
Just keep on practicing! It'll go faster. Threading a sewing machine is tricky until you get the hang of it. I work as a sloyd teacher which means I teach children how to work with textile material, like sew and stuff. I thoroughly enjoy myself when I thread the machine for them and then remove the thread just to make them to what I just did. In order for them to learn. Obviously. But also. Because the panic in their eyes when they realise that they actually have to do it themselves. Mwhahaha! *Laughs in evil teacher*
Yeah I cried the first time I broke a needle cause I knew I would have to figure out how to put a new one in lol. But it gets easier! And it's really fun to make your own clothes, even if they're a bit of a mess at first :)

As another black person your opinion is concerning because a lot of slaves were murdered just because they wanted to be free and and for you to say that you don't care about historical facts is troubling that in fact you benefit from because they made sacrifices so you can have your freedom today! I enjoy Micrah's videos and I am glad she took time to address this issue.
@@sintara8442 Respectfully how do you know what she was thinking? Kyra wrote her own words so I am assuming she meant what she said. Now if I have misinterpreted what she said than I stand corrected. The subject was that Micarah took pictures of herself in front of historical landmarks Kyra comment was that she was in the black community and that she didn't care about the reason why this was up for discussion in reference towards the historical context of those who that landmarks represented which were slaves. Just because we love someone doesn't give them a pass if they have made a mistake and have corrected it. Again, if I am wrong I stand corrected I am glad Micarah took the time to do the correct thing giving her pass is not acceptable just because we like someone. This should not give them a pass to misrepresent slaves that was already treated wrong in their lifetime and treated wrong in their afterlife to appease someone else's mistake.
The fact that you “don’t care” just automatically shows the type of black person that you are. Willing to throw your kind under the bus to impress a kind that could’ve cared less about you or your life just a couple decades ago and could still care less even now. But continue doing that and see how far it gets you.
@@Pineyapplecent exactly. You didn’t misinterpret it. I know exactly what kyra was saying, only a ignorant person would assume it meant something else to cover for her or even gaslight you into thinking that you’re “overreacting” or that you “misinterpreted” it.

@@alexcalvillo2609 She posted it in the top pinned comment she made: some viewers felt uncomfortable that she was at a plantation where slavery occurred (she was very funny in the original but made no mention of the history of the place) so she edited that out to make the video more enjoyable to watch for any unhappy viewers. She listened to feedback and accommodated others by respecting their feelings and removing any hurtful content.
I have so much respect for you and how you handled this. Most people would've shaken it off or gotten totally defensive, but you show a great deal of maturity in the way you have acknowledged, addressed and assessed the issue. You're right, as a white person it becomes all to easy to ignore or not notice some things that others can't. I had no realization of the racial significance of that location bc I was more focused on your dialogue and wonderful skills! So this was both refreshing and insightful. Thank you Micarah! Much love xx
ps. i will gladly watch this video a second time lol. whenever i'm having a hard day, rewatching your videos helps me feel better. keep it up!
oh my gosh she rick-rolled us with Jo's UA-cam channel🤣😭I don't know weather to feel betrayed or amused but either way I have somehow gained even more respect for her😂
It’s currently 7:53 am and as I’m writing this the rest of the house is in slumber. My shoulder is hurting and I’m dehydrated so instead of leaving the covers that offer me so much warmth, I have chosen to watch Micarah Tewers. Merry Christmas of 2021. Next year maybe I will leave my bed and drink some water
Lol I feel that
You inspire me so much, I even started sewing myself. My first dress was from your prom dress video. Since then I’ve been hooked. Thank you, Micarah
Wow. She really reposted a video, that already had a lot of views, because she didnt want to offend anyone. Wow. She is a true Queen.
What was offending about it ?
@@lakimakeup read the pinned comment at the top

Thanks for putting Joe's UA-cam channel in the description!
You're a legend!! I love this video and I think you have to be one of the most kind and responsible people on this platform.
I still simply adore the short film at the end, the plot twists were exquisite
The remix! Have I watched this video already? Yes. Am I still going to watch it 3 more times? Absolutely ❤️
I hope more sponsors come to you cuz you are the ONLY creator which sponsors ad i NEVER skipped even once...

Oh shiz in one day! Micarah is just speed running beautiful dresses while giving us accurate measurements-
fish egg's width...next up, the thickness of of a thumbnail
premium dad on a tennis court
(I feel like I'm writing spoilers :D)
A true highlight in this video: If you want to go full on Rococo, not to be confused with "you go Glen Coco!"-
Ah a moment where Madame Micarah show's us her high wit.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who randomly gets the Life With Derek theme song stuck in my head
USED TO BE MY MOTHER AND MY SISTER AND ME A HAPPY LITTLE FAMILY AND ALRIGHT WITH ME BUT MOM GOT MARRIED THATS WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGED SOME THINGS WERE LOST AND OTHERS WERE GAINED A NEW SCHOOL A NEW HOUSE SO MANY CHANGES IT MAKES MY HEAD SPIN AND NOW IVE GOT A BROTHER WHO GETS UNDER MY SKIIIIIIN THIS IS LIFE WITH DEREK THIS IS LIFE WITH DEREK THIS IS LIFE WITH LIZZIE EDWIN GEORGE NORA MARTI AND CASEY
Girl, I will watch this a hundred times. Your videos are RARE, and I don't think you know just how rare. The rewatchability(is that a word???) of them is astronomical. I am a soapmaker(from scratch, mixing lye, water, and oils, yeahhhh), and I love to put on a slew of your videos for entertainment while measuring and mixing. That along with binging Hunter X Hunter with my husband and cat today is making for a top notch Saturday.
Wow! So honored by that! And you should know that I used to be really obsessed with the idea of making soap. I watched all sorts of videos on how to do it…. But I never did it :(
@@MicarahTewers I highly recommend trying it, it's so satisfying!👍
Thank you for caring so much ❤️ I appreciate your sensitivity about these matters, and how you’re willing to learn and apologize when you mess up! Still a great video, made even better w context
Micarha is only one I love watching about sponsership because it's so wholesome 💖🌝
that dress makes me want to run around in a field while listening to the palace dance song from Tangled
Very useful! I've been invited to the cotillion, something I never thought would happen in my wildest dreams! But unfortunately, due to my jealous siblings not wanting me to go, they hid the invitation letter from me and I only saw it the day before the dance. I had nothing suitible for such an occasion at the ready, but with your advice, I was the belle of the ball. You've saved my reputation and future. To think, all this stress could've been avoided had they only sent an email?
I haven’t watched the video yet but the gown is GORGEOUS
OBSESSED with the short film!!!! love this
hey bestie, do you mind sharing what sewing machine you use? Watching your videos has totally inspired me to pick up sewing again but I have no idea which machines would be a good fix for me, so knowing what works for you would help me figure out where to start looking. Thank you so much for all the content you make, and bringing so much happiness to people through your channel
A singer simple! It’s very inexpensive, but has worked just fine for me for years! I mean aside from the times when I have to take it apart and bang on it and put it back together because some mysterious sorcery has rendered useless….
That just has to be the most hilarious historical costuming video I have ever seen. Girl, you did great job on both the gown and the video!
You’re so considerate and I could genuinely say with confidence, you’re the coolest person I can think of when I think of a UA-camr, anyway
I love you, from your local homeschooler:)
I'm homeschooled too! I'm in west Michigan. Where are you from? :)

LOVE your dress, can hardly wait to make mine. I don't really know how to sew, So This is Right up my Alley!!! SUPER GREAT THANK YOU! I HATE that sewing can be so intimidating & daunting, but you've made it Wacky, Crazy & Fun!!! Thank you so much. I've waited a life time for my 18th century outfit, & thanks to you, I'm going to have it! 🤩😍🥰
This explanation of the newly edited version of this video is the very reason I will CONTINUE to watch your videos. While I hadn’t thought about the original post in this light being a person of color, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness of other peoples feelings on the subject of slavery. You are a hilarious high caliber person worthy of all your subscribers respect. Well done 👍!
ily so much please never quit your the best part of my life you’ve gotten me through some hard times and you’re just the best
I'm black I didn't know and don't care, I don't think it matters but that's thoughtful. I'm gonna watch the video over anyway cause I like watching your videos.
@@Pineyapplecent respectfully i dont think thats what kyra was trying to say
You and Joe are absolutely adorable. So cute together!
I really respect you for doing this 😌
I made my first dress in part because of this video, this was extremely helpful. Thank you!
Your doing a wonderful job of being an ever learning evolving human. And you do it with grace. Love your channel ❤
Wow Casey's balloon art is fan-freakin-tastic! Wow!
That short film was more accurate then anything Netflix will ever put out....this is a masterpiece
Colonial Woman Awaiting Her Husband’s Return From The Revolutionary War was a very beautiful short film

Thank you for being such a wonderfully genuine person, who's not afraid to bring up her Bible or be classy but funny as heck. ♥️♥️♥️
Your videos are so chaotic and it stresses me out but I love it because it's basically how I think all the time

Make a Morticia Adams' dress, please
I discovered this video after going down a corset/costume rabbit hole and omg you are hilarious!! I absolutely love the way you describe all the sewing techniques and it gave me a much needed giggle!
I may try my hand at whipping up a dress like this for Halloween 🤞🏻
Thank you for the re upload and for listening without excuses. I appreciate that a lot and hope more people can learn from this and not repeat the same mistake.
Fun fact I’m doing a report in school about fashion history and I’m making physical copies of some clothing prices which includes some 18th century clothes and a section on bonnets so I did indeed need this here tutorial. Thank you Micarah!
Joe is the perfect man. I would like a partner like him one day.
Please please please do a Aurora/sleeping beauty dress tutorial! I really wanna make her pink:blue dress but have no idea how to go about it
Me, fully prepared to see like 3 weeks of breaks taken in between steps: “OMG I can’t wait to see how she makes this gown in one day 🤩🤩🤩”
