If you live stream the guinea pigs a few hours a day, every day, Twitch monetization would probably be enough to fund another salary. You would not even need to narrate or anything.
Every time I see you cut something, I admire how sharp your scissors are, and then I promptly hear my mother in my childhood sternly telling me to NEVER use her fabric scissors.
I used to work at a cowboy theme park. I graciously provided the other actors with a sewing kit so we could mend our costumes... until I found out the tech guy was using the fabric scissors to cut *WIRE*. Sewing kit was promptly confiscated.
I feel like emphasizing ‘because, we don’t have time for that.’ as you nonchalantly tear open the paper wrapping of the fabrics with only a fingernail 1:05 sets such a mood for this project. Effortless Badass.
We just gonna gloss over that sick 'slices bag open with fingernail' moment rofl Bernadette's villain era indeed xD ANYWAY that gown turned out incredible! Amazing choice to tie it all together with the crown, 10/10 no notes
loooool "I don't have _time_ to finish sewing this entire dress! I know, I'll just drop my progress on this dress and make an entirely _separate_ dress!" never change. The end result was stunning despite the speed with which it was designed and assembled. Definitely has a 'dark academia' vibe to it, which just feels very in tune with the rest of the channel. Bravo. I wish I could be so skilled in sewing, unfortunately I have spec'ed into writing and computers and have no more skill points to allot...for now.
I work in IT myself and started taking sewing classes last year, just one evening, three hours and it's amazing how much neater my work is after just about 20 classes. Taking this class works for me as a fixed timeslot to focus on one skill without being distracted. It helps. (Also, invest a little more in good scissors if you can afford it, especially if you're left-handed.)
Thank you, again, for sharing your creative process with us. I adore your fiddle-base Singer treadle; I'd have one but treadles don't fit. The hand crank 66, however, does. Please, keep up your excellent work.
The robe came out so regal and gorgeous! You look like a dark scholarly sorceress who the king hires to deal with problematic neighbors. Also I love the piggy zoomies at the end, I always stick around for bonus piggy footage haha. "Don't eat the furniture!" Furchildren make us say the craziest things...
The shots of you alone cut in with the party make it seem like you’re Maleficent arriving uninvited at Aurora’s party. Also Bernadette just low-key reminding us that she used to be a costume maker on Broadway and she can still whip up an epic costume with zero weeks notice.
This entire project is about the power of rectangles of fabric and belts and that is a DELIGHTFUL reminder that many of the most epic historical looks are using the full yardage of fabric and using belts, brooches etc to shape it.
it tickles me just right when i find out a certain look was made with full yardage and draping, ive found great videos on great kilts but fewer on roman/greek drapage and ancient egypt though the diagrams and clothing guides says most of these are done with various kinds of large rectangles
Yup ancient clothing has always been about draping. One that's still continued to this day is the saree. 6 to 9 yards of fabric that can be draped around the body in different styles.
Just an FYI for caption readers, every mention of the skirt fabric captioned as "tool" should actually be "tulle." Also at 14:30 "bask" should be "basque." Anyone watching probably already knows that but commenting in case someone doesn't.
I want the Banners (Bernadette & Danni) to make a video game with the Guinea Pigs. They have a good start already ! Lol 😆 For added incentives, they could give a portion of the profits to an animal rescue !?
Dang that production value has me tingling. Who is your camera operator? Who is your editor? Absolutely fantastic. I really felt the climax at the end. Watching your videos is so pleasurable because the production quality is so super high. The pacing, the storytelling, the shot choice, the projects, the music. It all comes together, so so so well.
Her brother is the editor, their work has improved a lot since the earlier days and with that being said their earlier videos were already in such great quality.
Oh yeah. I’ve been super unproductive after the plague diminished. And so I’ve been less engaged in these videos, but I’m glad to see that she’s still doing crazy projects. I’m feeling inspired.

I love costumes but hate the waste of making a costume for a single event. So I love the mentality of making something with an eye to reuse and remaking!! I do this with my own costumes as much as I can.
I have been following for a number of years now, and the evolution in your skills is and has been, just SO enjoyable. Not just the better end result, and not to say the start pf your UA-camry was "bad" exactly, but your openness with the process of learning, your desire to try & grow, the kindness with yourself, and encouragement of others as they grow.... and OOF (positively) the cinematography, audio, style choices, in this video in particular, are just *chef's kiss.* Fancier, younger, alt-universe Professor McGonagall vibes.
Thank you for this fun and beautiful video - it has really lifted my mood, after the disturbing and disastrous results for my country earlier this week. Your style reminds us that women are stronger than hate, more beautiful than deceit, and far more responsible about maintaining civility in society than they are given credit for. Love you, Bernadette!
Honestly so much of your work is both motivating and frustrating, frustrating because I feel like my sewing skills could never get CLOSE to this but motivating because it makes me want to try and keep learning!
Feverishly sewing hem on the way to the party... The dress will be finished before I get there. My time management is perfection. Love the finished garment.
OH MY GOD CUTTING OPEN THE PAPER WITH YOUR FINGERNAIL !!!!!! You are the coolest person to ever live. "Guinea pigs are paid actors" And they do their jobs perfectly, I nominate them both for an oscar! That dress, that ball, that editing! I am AMAZED!
I mean this in the most respectful and complimentary way - this is the most enby gown I've ever seen, and I want to make it and have it and wear nothing else forever.
I love that even someone as methodical in her wardrobe as Madame Banner still will "impulse buy" like in this video. As always, the result was amazing!
Really cool project. I like that there was time pressure - so a lot of decisions were gut feelings, no overthinking possible. Also shows your experience. And the end result 😍 - it seems so simple and yet mysterious. How the gown flows and forms the arms, still showing your silhouette with the belt. And the applications just adding a bit of sparkle to it 🧚 That seems like it really could be possible to make for a beginner, love that.
I love the sheer amount of "Sewing [some kind of very nice dress] in [an amount of time that is much to short to sew said dress]" videos I've seen from fashion historians. We'll never learn, will we? 🖤💜
Even as time was tight and it wasn't completely finished to your standards, it still looks AMAZING! Thank you Bernadette for giving me plenty of inspiration to work with for the next few months 🥰
I love seeing you just "wing it" with this gown. I often have grand ideas, but then fabric dictates something else entirely. It was cool to see you just work through the design and watch it unfold.
The black blouse and skirt you are wearing while making the gown are beautiful. Congratulations on making a beautiful combination for the ball. Being an introvert, I would never go to such an event but it’s interesting to see what people people like to do with their time. Good work! Fun project!
This is the comment I'm looking for! Bernadette, where on earth did you make or get that blouse? I've just looked through all your videos and I didn't find a single clue. I am in LOVE and absolutely need to make myself one. I would appreciate some insight!
You looked amazing. in your short-notice attire. I enjoy your sewing videos so i'm thrilled to see one. I enjoy your approach to design and sourcing materials as much as I enjoy the actual sewing.
* in under a week, _while making a video._ Seriously, I don't know how you managed to do it and get such a fantastic result! I'm getting a strong dark wizard vibe from the look of it. If I were at that ball, I would've been worried about accidentally startling you and getting turned into a frog or something when you reflexively whip out your wand and cast the first spell that comes to mind.
I love how your story-telling, over the years, has gotten better and better, Bernadette. It makes for an exciting 'Sherlock Holmes-esque' reveal and ending (outro is great). One thing that would really help me appreciate all the details even more are either a slow pan over all the details or a quick shots of them interspersed throughout during the dramatic reveal. I found myself excited to see you swirl on the stair case but longed to see a peek of the plum underskirt, etc.
This is the first video of yours I’m seeing and I am ASTONISHED!! This gown is the most beautiful and darkly enchanted garment I have EVER seen, and as a 44 year old woman who has always leaned towards the darker side of EVERYTHING, that’s saying something!! I will definitely be sticking around and cannot wait to see what else is in store. Bravo dear! 🥰
am i the only one that would quite literally perish for unedited b-roll/asmr style footage for hours? i understand this would be creating more effort and stress in different parts of life so i’m hesitant to fully want content like this… yet i shall forever be yearning like a small victorian cat that has a love affair with an alley cat who i cannot meet since i’ve been held captive by my owners for the reason of ‘i’ve been misrepresented the house name’
What an amazing project. For some reason, it's giving me Maleficent vibes and I love it. You seriously make me want to pick up sewing again - I learned when I was younger but then stopped for some reason.
This robe dress is INCREDIBLE and I will be making myself one as soon as I finish all my Christmas prep and see what fabric (aka bedsheet) I have that'll work for this. Though I might need to find something a little heavier. UGH THIS IS SO GOOD. I love how majestic it turned out.
So simlpe yet so majestic! It might be a look for a dark priestess or warlock character. And if choose different color scheme, other characters also! Sooo good idea for a life-action games.
The dress was such a wonderful regal evil queen moment and I am here for it! 💚🖤💚Also had to admire your vintage Singer as my mother and I run an antique shop.
Impeccable work! I don't know why I have concerns about your work when you start explaining the design. Never have you ever failed to make a STUNNING piece! This is truly majestic and you are gorgeous! The presentation of the complete piece at the end is breathtaking! You are truly the Queen of the Dark Fantasy Ball!
You're videos bring such joy in my day! I would honesty love to hear a ASMR video of all you're B-film of cutting and sewing. It's such a cozy comfort and I take naps to it
oh my goodness... thank you for this video... you solved a problem for me that I've been having for years that I couldn't wrap my head around... i now know how to do it... thank you thank you thank you.... so very very much... you are a genius... all hail the queen...
youre one of the main influences that got me into fashion design and now im in school for it! i truly found love it, can't believe ive been watching for like 5? years
I have been following for a very long time and seeing you simple put up a gown with no design whatsoever in five days is mesmerizing. I still remember when you used the floor in your nyc apt! And look at you now! Gorgeous gown!
The dress came out stunning, but it was the fact that you’re the one wearing it that really sold the vibe. The posture, with your head held high, the gestures, the crown, just the way you step down the stairs, everything is perfect. It needed the Attitude and you fully, fully gave ☺️ fantastic job and thank you!!
It's so gorgeous I can't stop drooling 🤤 and the editing of the video is so beautiful! I've been following you for a couple years now and you've been great at that then as well but now it's a whole different level! also, I just want to express how much I love the fabric scissors' sound, reminds me of the times I used to sit with my grandma when she was working on some sewing project ❤
What I love about sewing by hand is that very little has changed. The skills my grandmother taught me in the 1970s and I learned myself are still mostly unchanged when I make my own clothes now in my 60s. I learned on a “Standard” treadle and upgraded and upgraded over the years and now have an impossibly expensive Quilters Edition Bernina and Overlocker, plus a Singer for upholstery. I LOVE sewing. I also love a hand sewn zip. Nice.❤
I love the production of your videos. I find it hard to describe it but I'd say it's mostly with how it's cut and the music. Also really like that you try to not waste any fabric. I don't watch you as often anymore, but I'm still glad when your videos pop up in my feed!
1:05 I have to admit that nail cutting was pretty awesome and smooth🤣 Edit: Okay i just finished this video and im impressed. Im mostly having the impression that im actually a carguy by looking at my youtube feed, but after i saw your onlyfans test video i somehow liked this style of your youtube channel. (Not the onlyfans, but the humour, and the historical side of it.) so this is the second video of yours that i saw, and i saw a lot of pretty interesting videos that i wanna see after this one, so keep up the good work, you made me like history and the style better.

Who were the dancers at the party?
The maleficent vibes are amazing!
Repeat commenter, but at some point, can we get a tour of your new sewing room? And yes, thanks for the piggy shots. ☺
Every time I see you cut something, I admire how sharp your scissors are, and then I promptly hear my mother in my childhood sternly telling me to NEVER use her fabric scissors.
I’ve tied a piece of fabric to the handle of mine to visually remind my partner “not these scissors.”

So cool😄
@@Imfranticc It appears to be tissue paper, which will tear if you so much as breathe on it. Very cool vibes, nonetheless! xD
I literally came to see if anyone else commented on how casual and badass that was!
Loved that detail!

Bernadette's villain era indeed xD

Dark Academia! Now I know what that dress makes me think of, a young Minerva McGonagall.
That's the magic of a concept. Sometimes it's easier to start one thing simpler from scratch than a whole other production.
I work in IT myself and started taking sewing classes last year, just one evening, three hours and it's amazing how much neater my work is after just about 20 classes. Agreed, I once found myself yelling “Stop licking the fabric softener!”
I have had to say why must my shoulder be the spot which u chose to lick ur butt. To my little dog sitting on the back of the sofa.
Some people want to be the "Belle of the ball". Then there's this lady, who wants to be the witch of the fairy tale.

The content on this channel has never disappointed me. You look stunning and also, like the evil queen from the animated sleeping Beauty.
Not the be One of those People...BUT. The Evil Queen is from Snow White and Maleficent is the Villian in Sleeping Beauty.
I live for the piggie cameos, and also that cinematography was FLAWLESS
Very happy that you specified that the actors were paid
I went back over like 4 times to see where I missed that, was kinda interested to hear about that aspect. Where was this?

The sound of good scissors cutting fabric over a wood surface (5:09) gives me goosies.
Bernadette? Living out my dark goth fantasies? It’s actually groundbreaking but not unexpected of her!!

A delightful dark dress, and some equally delightful piggy breaks :)
I have been following for a very long time and seeing you simple put up a gown with no design whatsoever in five days is mesmerizing. I still remember when you used the floor in your nyc apt! And look at you now! Gorgeous gown!
It's been a really, really hard week.
This was therapeutic.
From one Bernadette to another, thank you.
How stunning, mysterious, and fantastic...what a costume.
I love your closing credits!
Nice.❤
The guineas are so cute.❤
I love the production of your videos. I find it hard to describe it but I'd say it's mostly with how it's cut and the music. Also really like that you try to not waste any fabric.
I don't watch you as often anymore, but I'm still glad when your videos pop up in my feed!
1:05 I have to admit that nail cutting was pretty awesome and smooth🤣
Edit: Okay i just finished this video and im impressed.
The crown was a great finishing touch! You definitely had the dark fantasy queen look!
The animations were great!! What a great idea to help me visualize!! And beautiful robe!
