Stephanie Lynn Nicks (born May 26, 1948) "Stevie" is a Goddess in Rock History. Nicks began her solo career, releasing the studio album Bella Donna, which topped the Billboard 200 and has reached multiplatinum status. She has released eight studio solo albums and seven studio albums with Fleetwood Mac, selling a certified total of 65 million copies in the U.S. alone. Her song playlist is seriously packed with iconic songs. Fleetwood Mac, solo duos with Don Henley, Tom Petty and others. She is the first woman to have been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and then as a solo artist in 2019.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Stevie Live with Fleetwood Mac and twice solo, with Don Henley doing "Leather and Lace". She is one of the Legendary Ladies Of Rock.
Stevie Nicks is an absolute treasure to the music industry! I had the teen crush on her in the 70's,as did probably about every guy during that era,and even now, gorgeous! She is still touring and will be 76 in about 2 months! Her lead guitarist Waddy Wachtel has toured with her since 1981 and he also,at age 76.
@@michaelasay8587 Well, born in May 1963,I was around 14 when Rumours was released,I stated teen crush.I wouldn't have had teen a crush if I was her age.I also had a teen crush on Linda Ronstadt same decade, once again, she's older than Stevie.I grew up on AM radio and then FM around 1977 when my hometown first launched FM.I watched the Midnight Special, and other shows that featured Rock bands, back then, that was the only way you could actually see the artist in person, besides just pictures in Magazines and Album covers.I really don't understand the point of your question.
@@chuck4tnvols681 To be honest here, she's a treasure no doubt. But she was a handful for the industry. All the members of Fleetwood Mac were during the Lindsay, Stevie years. Caused a tidal wave that the industry had to deal with. She would never be listed as a treasure to the industry, just is to the fans who enjoy her music. She would have been fired a long time ago if it wasn't for that. She's far from a saint.
Best version of this song ever! Stevie uses a lot of symbology and analogy in her lyrics. You definitely have to listen with a poetic ear with her. She's a goddess. If you notice, when she puts her arms up holding her cape, they look like wings. She has different capes and shawls for different songs. If you haven't done Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" live on Midnight Special, you need to! P.S. Destiny's Child sampled this song for "Bootylicious"! Stevie even appeared in the video.
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", a duet recorded by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, was the lead single from her 1981 debut solo album Bella Donna. Both songs were huge that year. Nicks got the title of this song from a conversation she had with Petty's wife where she misheard "age of seventeen" as "edge of seventeen". The rhythmic figure was inspired by "Bring on the Night" by The Police.
From Stevie's 1st solo tour 1981 . This was Recorded & aired on HBO . Her Band is a vertiable who's who of L.A. Studio Talent of the day with Waddy Wachel on Guitar , Russ Kunkel on Drums , Bob Glaub on bass .& Bobbye Hall on Percussion & back-up vocals , Add in Bentmont Tench from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers & Roy Bittan of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band on keyboards and add in Stevie's long time backing singers Sharon Celani & Lori Perry and you got one hell of a band !
No it’s not. It’s about her life changes and if she was going to give up on music. She was in Colorado when written. Her dad lived if so she dedicated to her dad on the dance concert
Her dad mistakenly thought it was about him, so she would often dedicate it to him, especially if he was in the audience. She wrote Landslide in Aspen when Lindsey went on the road with the Everly Brothers. She was sitting in a friend’s home in the mountains, contemplating her future with Lindsey and in her musical career. Her reflection in the window was superimposed over the view of the snow-covered hills. Hence the imagery in the lyrics.
One of her backup singers , the 1 with the long brunette hair is her sister-in-law , she's married to Stevie's brother ! She's been with her from the start of her solo career !
Actually, the brunette is Sharon Celani. The redhead, Lori Perry, was married (now divorced) to Stevie’s brother, Christopher. They have a daughter, who is now all grown up and married herself.
I saw Stevie Nicks on TV when I was 7 (1977) and instantly fell in love with her. Her voice has a direct connection to my spine, stimulating every nerve ending in my body. She still melts me. The queen of Rock and Roll.
You make me smile playing the music I grew up with. Her voice takes me with it bringing me into the song. I think you should give Pat Benatars song 》Hell is for children》 it's a very powerful song with a deep meaning.
Truly the best live version of this masterpiece I've ever seen or heard. This concert played on HBO in the spring of 1982. I was 12 years old. I must have watched it 40 times. Absolutely fell in love with Stevie Nicks. And I can assure you, it was nothing sexual. It was the MUSIC. THE SONG. The power and her passion. No song ever sounded anything like this before or since...from any artist of any style. I have followed Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac ever since. The band here was fantastic! No special effects...no backing tracks...no ridiculous dancers all over the stage.... just raw talent and genuine musicianship. Recorded in December of 1981 during the very brief Bella Donna Tour at the old Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles. I would have given a testicle to be there that night. Band was incredible. Her longtime guitarist Waddy Wachtel, the great Russ Kunkel on drums, Benmont Tench (of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) on keyboards/Hammond Organ... and on that incredible but often overlooked grand piano...banging on the ivory keys...is the amazing Roy Bittan from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Now that is what I call ROCK & ROLL... 1980's style. The best of times. Stevie and Pat Benatar were the queens of rock back in those days. Just great, great music...back when it was all about the quality of the music. The SONG 🎵
In 1994 on my 34th birthday a buddy got us 2 front row tickets and VIP passes to party with her and her band in the foundation room at the House of Blues in Los Angeles ! I brought the CD cover from her Street Angels cd which now has her autograph on it ! One of my prise possessions !
Awwww man, Stevie Nicks is in my top 3 female vocalists! Love her! When I was in High School all the gals wanted to be Stevie, including the guys! 😘 SEVENTEEN is my favorite Stevie song!! She was fabulous starring in the popular TV series “American Horror Story: The Coven! She’s been referred to as the “white witch”. 😁. Thank you.
One of my favorite songs ever. When I was in High School, I wanted to BE Stevie Nicks ❤. So blessed to have seen her in concert solo as well as Fleetwood Mac; took my son with me to that one; he was about 13 and not very interested. Now that he’s 31, what is some of what he listens to when he’s working on his motorcycle?? Yep, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. My work is done ❤😂.
I sooooo love reactions from your generation to the music of my generation.....60's, 70's, 80's. So good to see you enjoying that era. Thanks for doing this!
One of my favorite singers. I have every song she has done on vinyl record albums or CDs . My favorite CD is her live performance with the Australian orchestra in Sidney Australia. Awesome CD. I play in my car on long trips. It's so ironic we are the same age. Her birthday is in May and mine is October. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stevie is awesome, and Fleetwood Mac is too. You should definitely check out some Heart songs. Some of the best ones are... Sing Child, Love Alive, Cook with Fire(do the oringinal recording, it sounds live), Mistral Wind and White Lightning and Wine. Good start ❤❤😊
One of my top fave female singers ever; I cry every damned time I hear her sing Landslide, and I sincerely hope you will react to the original music video of her song Gypsy, the video is gorgeous like a mini movie and the song is so beautiful and wistful and another favorite of mine.
Stevie was my pubescents years crush when I first discovered girls. So pretty with that unique, one of a kind voice. She is a classy lady too. Sexy without having to resort to indecency.
Great reaction JMBOY - I love your channel! Allow me to make a suggestion for a beautiful song - sung masterfully by a female vocalist with a very powerful voice: Jennifer Rush - The Power Of Love. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Just started watching your stuff. Love the way you get into the music and don't interrupt the song. I have subscribed to your channel. If it pleases you, please listen to some Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter's brother. If so, try One Day Tomorrow or Hello Mellow Feelin'. Thanks.
The incomparable, beautiful, fabulous Stevie Nicks. What a lady, what a voice.

Gotta throw in the Buckingham-Nix era..
You got to talk about Linda Rondatadt when you speak of female vocalist.
I was only 30 feet away from her at Woodstock 98 with Don Henley.... Chills down my back.
Find the peanut butter, because I am so jelly!!
😂
I have had the pleasure of seeing Stevie Live with Fleetwood Mac and twice solo, with Don Henley doing "Leather and Lace". She is one of the Legendary Ladies Of Rock.

She really cared/cares about her craft and coming through for the fans. What a powerhouse.

Classic live track, Stevie is incredible.
Magical and mysterious beauty. Still in love.
Love Stevie !! Beautiful vocals !! My fav female vocalist !!
She is good but Linda is the best.
In my opinion Stevie is the best!

The opening guitar riff to this song was sampled by Destiny's Child in "Bootylicious", Stevie Nicks is also in the clip of that song

Last time I saw Stevie Live she changed her dress 6 times. each with flowing lace like wings and a different color. She is serious cool.
Waddy and that wonderful guitar riff.
Such a great Timeless song, that has stood the test of time!!
And the ending ALWAYS gets me!! She sure is loved!!

You need to check out Fleetwood Mac -Rhiannon on Midnight Special live. Her performance there is phenomenal!!
Queen of rock ❤
Stevie did a solo album and a solo tour, this is from both. I saw this show in Indianapolis. I’ve seen her twice, Fleetwood Mac once.
When i seen them, Stevie had a little genie type tent on stage and she changed outfits every song
Great song by the great Nicks.

This was good, but it lacks Lindsay's guitar and Mick's instinctly brilliant drumming.
