I am a set designer, it’s a brilliant concept! You could have saved yourself so much time and use of tape by putting tape on the top corners of the foil first. It also means less damage to the wall when taking it down and you would have had enough tape for the gaps. I am always learning 😎

Exactly! Spray paint it is what I was gonna say. Colored Gels and the obscure it somehow by blurring the background. If the Key Light was Red it would work.

I love DIY-videography! Anytime you can do a crazy effect with a household item, I get stoked because some of the equipment is just too damn expensive!
Dope quick setup!! Many looks can be achieved even with the flash light, put a color gel on it for different looks & i wish they actually made a 24-50mm 1.8 atleast. Those are my top focal lengths.
A 24-50mm 1.8 would be fire!

Cool ! Try mylar next time. Comes is 48" wide rolls, is very easy to install, and has very similar effect

I like what you did with the space you had. I would have liked to see the set extended further out on both sides so that you could pull the light back and light only the bottom portion of the foil while getting the talent in a full body longer shot. I think the light being so close to the backdrop is what was taking away from the darker mood you said you liked. I also enjoy those darker, low light shots when dealing with metallic or reflective backdrops. Great video! I may give this a go soon!

Good video, but the mylar you linked could be a problem because it dosent crinkle well. That product is like an actual mirror film. So its easier to see your reflection, lighting set up in the shot.
