    Wow, great explanation. I just ordered the mix modulator that goes behind the radio. before I install it, would you recommend shooting some WD-40 or any other lubricant down onto the actual door itself before installing this? Like you mentioned in the video, foreign objects that have fallen through can block the door and break the big sprocket. Taking it a step further, would you recommend spraying some WD-40 or something down onto the door itself to make sure it continues to open smoothly with the least resistance? Thank you!

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Рік тому +1

      No lube needed as it is plastic and will attract dust. When you have the old motor out just make sure the door swings freely and smooth. If you can see in there look for any part of the door or seals hanging down or any broken plastic for the motor to gear splines.

    Good video but this isn't what is making the electrical noise in the dash in a 2012 Ford Focus when the passenger door is opened. It looks like this dash was out prior along with the headliner and "A" and "B" trims on this car. If one is sitting in the seat when the door is opened from inside or outside it doesn't make the noise. It almost sounds like a relay fuse whirring. There's no issue with the a/c system. I'll check the fuses. The horn on this car doesn't work either.

    Yep, this happened to my ford taurus years ago. Replaced the part. Haven't had any trouble since. Is this part of the instrument cluster??

      Great question Evan, There are no less than 4 motors on vehicles built after the 1980's with non dual climate controls and as many 12 motors (could be more ) on vehicles with multiple climate control zones for front and back seat passengers. Thanks for posting and glad you got yours fixed.

    Would be nice to know what make and model vehicle this actuator came out of. I doubt it is out of the Chevrolet that I searched for.

      Sorry Cubmancan, there were some details buried in the description that this is from a Ford Truck. But they are all very similar in look, feel, form and function. Get me your year make and model and which one you are looking for and I will research to see if I can help find you some information.

    I have a 04 trailblazer ls that only blows cold air on the right side but hot on left when my heats on. Today I hear clicking in my dash after I start the car. Could that be this part issue?

    What do yoiu have to do to fix it?
    Replace the whole acuator or just the gear and how much?

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  8 місяців тому +1

      The whole actuator. The cost really varies because of the time it can take. Some are real fast to do and some require the dash to be removed to gain access. The part is like $20.00 to $100.00 dollars US.

    What this called I need one for my truck 1999 chev blazer

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Рік тому

      Depending what it operates. there's a few different names. If it's the one that controls the hot and cold it's called the blend door motor or actuator. Or if it's the one that controls the return air inside the truck it's a recirculation motor or actuator. A lot of times it's easier to just know where it is and what it controls and then get an exploded diagram from either the dealership or maybe even online and find its part number and match it back to either a factory one or an aftermarket one as everybody has interchanges in their computer systems these days. Hope that helps.

    I hear the dash clicking when the door opens but drains my battery almost instantly

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Рік тому +1

      Generally when the actuator motors are bad and are consistently clicking they will eventually time out after a few minutes. Even if one ran for an hour or more it should not run the battery down. You may also have a battery that's starting to go bad, it would be at least worth having it checked just to make sure. Thanks for sharing and I hope the fix is fairly inexpensive

    How dangerous is it?

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  2 роки тому

      Good afternoon Stanley, It is not dangerous other than the air ducts it operates may not work or get stuck in one position. If it is the one that controls the floor heat and defroster it may not give you the defroster to clear the windshield as an example. I have not heard of one causing anything more than that.

    • @Craigs_car_care
      @Craigs_car_care  Рік тому +1

      Howdy, There are three possibilities for behind the radio, 1. The blend door motor for the hot and cold setting, 2. The defrost/floor motor for air out the top, floor or both.3. The motor for the rear air. There are motors/actuators on both sides of the case near the radio. Sometimes you can change a setting while your hearing the clocking and see if it affects it to determine which one it is. Great question.

      @@Craigs_car_care thanks for such a fast response. It seems to be on the driving side behind the radio. It gets louder with the higher fan speed. Air is only coming out of the forward vents and not the dash for defrost or at the feet. @@d.cent1326 Glad to be of help. First step is to check that the AC system is full and the compressor and radiator/s fans are working correctly. Once that is done/verified working then it is time to see what's going on in the dash. Make sure if it has a cabin air filter it is clean or at lease not stopped up. You may be able to get your hand up under the dash to see if you can feel which actuator is clicking. There may also be body control data trouble codes in the BCM. It may take a higher level of scanner than what they use at the parts store to see more of the network (many parts store scanners only show Powertrain control module stuff. (PCM)

      @@Craigs_car_care so this doesn’t make the check engine light come on but still register a code in the bcm? I will definitely stick my hand up there to see if I can feel which one. I was actual going to replace the blower motor because it’s making noise. Fan speeds work fine. Hot air only out of the foreword vents and dash. I was planning on doing the ac refrigerant Check after I replace the blower motor. Then on to the actuator if I can figure which one. I might just replace the ones I can see if I can’t narrow it down to the actual one that’s clicking. From what I can see replacements aren’t that expensive.
