Thank you! Now I won’t freeze!
I'm with the guy that posted a couple of comments below me. It's been a couple of years but I'm hoping someone will see this too. I'm super desperate. Everyone is quoting BIG money to fix this and folks, I ain't got it! Out of all the videos I've searched, yours came closer to telling me what I needed to know. I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. I've got the whole "clicking" thing going on, my AC blows cold but won't blow out the dash vents. It'll blow out the floor and defrost, but not in your face. Heat blows fine. My question is which actuator do I repair and HOW do I do it?? A mechanic I am not, but I can follow instructions.
Look into how you take your whole dash apart to get to the hvac system. It’s about a 10 hour job I think with no experience, could be even longer but that’s why it costs so much money. Once you get inside of the dash you can investigate further to see which actuator/door vent is messed up.
I never had any knocking. I replaced the blend door actuator because it would go from hot to cold. Since I have replaced it, I get a sound like a squeezing air out your cheek and clicking. It's still doesn't blow cold, but it does adjust the hold to cool.
Thanks for this, This just started knocking in my '10 Ram
Good luck getting it fixed. With this truck it knocked for years then one day in the winter it got stuck blowing cold. Perfect timing, right? Lol. The owner never complained because it kept working.
Keep us posted on your progress. 👍💪🤞
Mine too. Trying to figure out which actuator to fix though.
I released min in my 2007 ram 1500 a few months ago and it just started making the grinding noise, if the new junk two?
This just started on my 09 RAM 1500 and now it takes like 5 minutes before it blows cold perfect timing for summer
They never go bad when it is convenient. Lol.
Once I plugged new actuator it didn’t reset or move or nothing. I tested the pig tail connector to the actuator with a circuit tester and isn’t getting no power..is there a fuse or something? why would it not move the actuator when changing temperature from hot to cold or vise versa
Sweet man, so I know it’s been two years but hopfully someone will see this. I think I figured the issue out with your video but I get hot air on defrost but switching to head/and or feet I hear one clunk, it blows air out but not hot.
I'm with you, I'm hoping someone sees my comment, too. Did you ever figure anything out? I have heat; my problem is my AC won't blow out my dash vents (like into my face). It blows out the defrost and foot vents. I'm trying to figure out which actuator to fix and how to do it.
@@cherokeesprings so I’ve done more research and I believe it’s inside the hvac unit, my truck will blow heat out of the passenger vents but the driver side has hardly any at all. The way my truck is I would have to take the whole dash off to get into the hvac system to replace the actuator/door vents that could be broken inside.
👍✌️
What if the tab takes a little effort to move? What would that mean ?
Do not move the tabs on the actuator. Move the door on the truck to line it up... if that's what you mean. The door on the truck should move pretty easily. If not, you might have dust built up or some debris in the door jamming it.
U say to make sure its clocked? So its okay to move the gear? I thought U said not to?
You can move the door on the vehicle side to lineup with the actuator. Do not turn the actuator itself.
@@ScottiesHobbies Okay perfect. Thank you.
What should I do if it's still knocking after I replace this part?
What selection is not working? Cold to hot or the area the air comes from?
@@ScottiesHobbies it makes the clicking noise when I accelerate.
@jeffduncan7809 if your sure the sound is coming from the door that you replaced the actuator, the door on the inside of the hvac system might have come off of the hinge some how or maybe the actuator is not lined up with the door hinge.
What if your air or heat isn't on and you hear clicking under passenger dash 2010 ram 1500
Does the clicking only happen when you turn the truck on or the whole time the truck is running?
@@ScottiesHobbies when you turn it on
@@MOK_Rojox With my Chevy Silverado. In the past when my blend door actuator was bad I had a issue where the blend door would click for maybe 2 minutes every time I turn the vehicle on. In that situation, I replaced the blend door and solved the problem as well. Given... that was on my chevy...
It's a dodge that's why
I'm not going to argue that one.
That happens with any vehicle you buy...nice try with your ignorance buckaroo 😁
Nah, Dodge rules, hands down.
