The drag races are a perfect example of what an automatic transmission and a little extra torque does.
He didn't drop the tyre pressure in the Mustang...why not?
Automatic with manual shifting, yeah still quicker, but that’s why modern autos are superior in racing. I would say manuals are for enthusiasts, but so can an auto car be.
@@TurtleWurdleyep how I lost my last race against a lesser power mustang in my corvette…I’m manual with much more power even on a drag radial but with no prep I just spun crazy out of the hole while he gripped and left me….manual cars just can’t launch like auto now

Also notice thus guy was constantly short shifting. Stage 3 cam upgrades his rpm limit would have been raised and he definitely didn't use all of it

Both sounded great, the mustang was very low which might have effected it’s launches. Have seen some much faster commodores and mustangs here in Australia

The guy in the R8 was in this own world of mind, didnt look concentrated at all, missed shifts and gave the mustang the hit everytime... Jesus. That mustang is faster either or thou!

Yeah was thinking the same thing. So wanted the HSV to prove that its got that too. I think it would be a good close race in a roll with a great even start. I think the HSV driver just didnt want to jump like alot of them do on here, we all see it.......
100-200 was too big of a difference probably but could have been closer

I own a GTS but stock. I Would never swap it for anything best car I've ever driven and believe me I've owned alot of nice cars..

Ashame that Holden died in Australia. I have the 2015 normally aspirated 6.2L version. Still puts out 340Kw/570Nm. Is a great car to drive & still turn heads. It’s only done 38,000km to date. It’s a toy 👍

To me the 5.0 is a easy choice. You can make 800+hp with just boost and a fuel system. And probably opg to be safe.
The vf makes 700hp from factory

I live in Aus and the HSV is definitely one of the top cars of its era (Now gone forever) but I have to say, as sexy as the HSV is and this being my favourite year, that Mustang still looks damn sexy and as a Mustang guy I would still pay the extra dollars to get it instead of the HSV... if I could afford it.
Bro , think you'll find that most HSV's like that one are around the $200k mark ,, i can find a 2015 - 2017 supercharged fitted Mustang with over 540 rwkw for like $65k ish ... just sayin' ...

Great content, Australian here and owner of a Supercharged Mustang, your numbers are almost spot on what i get out of mine. Be interesting to see a manual vs manual or auto vs auto comparison. If anyones interested my car in stock trim ran almost identical 0 to 100 times as it does boosted.
Not on a tyre and a prepped surface though.

That 'stang generations auto was the 6 speed, and the top end speed say's it would pull the win at the top end !!
Put semi slicks on the mustang as well and thr R8 would be 3 car lengths behind again, even with an extra 200nm torque.
Auto was always going to beat the manual in a drag race.

Always knew that the Aussie would win. Besides the overmarket upgrades, you don't get stock sounds that make the ground vibrate like that. All holden sedans are the same.

I think it's so difficult for anyone to get onto the top 15 on the times I think it's time to change it and maybe do a top 30 or top 50, this will give people with the lesser powered cars more of a chance to achieve a place which will make the whole experience more exciting 😊

@mdizzlemark the top 50 is sinlgnificantly less special than top 15. It would do the opposite, considering it'd be much more easily attainable to make the list. You're either fast or you ain't. Lesser powered cars are not worth documenting for that reason. Why stop at top 50? Why not do the top 1000?

I own a manual LSA clubby with a harrop 570 kit with few extra’s lid spacer fuel pump and water reservoir. This hsv ain’t running 100% seems slow to hit redline. That said…what a car considering it started life as a 6 cyl family car.
I'm Australian but i love my Mustangs ( always been a Ford Man ), was good to see them race against each other
Having owned both cars (2017 Commodore SS 6.2 LS3 and presently 2023 Mustang 5.0 Auto California Special), the times would have been closer had both been auto.
And R888 tyres….

Should see some of the commys we have in Australia. I know someone running a 10.4 1/4 in a ve ss with a supercharged iron block dart with a harrop 2650i making just over 1000hp.
Yeah I run 10.8 with 690 in xr8 supercharge
He recently ran a 9.2 and let off at the end. He was on a break in tune at the time of the 10.4 and was on 7 psi on the 2650i.
