I used to love the FT one until my skin became too sensitive to handle it. In the past year I have been using the cos de baha product and been loving it for my super oily, sensitive, acne prone and dehydrated skin. I use it only in the morning!!!! And it does absorb into my skin fairly OK, keeping me hydrated and smooth all day. I use pyunkang yul moisture cream over the top plus a 50++++ spf. The cos de baha azelaic acid serum helps keeping my skin clear and really diminished fine lines due to dehydration. I also don't seem to need to exfoliate and my skin is a lot less greasy. I would really recommend this.

Hi Sarah I LOVE azelaic acid for my rosacea and eczema prone skin. I started using it about 3 or 4 years ago and at that time there was only the ordinary, PC and garden of wisdom had a 10% OTC version. I didn't like the texture of the ordinary and the PC was a bit spendy for me, so I used the GofW for well over a year. Their initial formulation was a bit gritty, but they changed to using the azelaic acid derivative and it was a nice serum. From there I went to the G&G Apad and used it for well over a year (multiple bottles). A few months ago my Doctor gave me Finnacea (the 15% prescription gel/cream). I have to say as much as I liked the Apad, the 15% has worked so much better for me. It's brought down the redness a lot more than the Apad, but I didn't have any prickling/sensitivity due to being acclimated to the ingredient through using the others. Apart from retinoids this has made the biggest difference to my skin of all the other products/ingredients I have tried. It keeps my pores really clear, tackles texture, reduces redness and makes my freckles look lighter and more uniform. It's really been a game changer for me. I haven't tried the two brands/products mentioned, but I'm sure they're good and it's an excellent active for most people. Here in Scotland we pay for prescriptions through taxes, so I get my prescription without upfront costs. That's the reason I didn't buy the 15% from face theory - it would cost me money whereas the prescription doesn't. I can use it once or twice a day - depending on how my skin is and what else i'm using. I don't use it in the same routine as my retinoid, but my skin is very sensitive. Most people will be fine using both together if tolerated. Best wishes.

I'm really liking the FaceTheory Lumizela serum. It's keeping my rosacea bumps at bay and making my skin look smooth.
When I tried Cos de Baha, it either broke me out (could be the panthenol, as that seems to be a potential breakout trigger for me) or failed to suppress my rosacea, but I didn't find it very effective for keeping my skin clear. It was helpful for controlling oil, though.

Oddly my skin reacts to azelaic acid, turns red and hurts. I've tried both of these products, evening routine only. Although I had less reaction with the Face Theory, in the end I had to stop using them. 😭 I guess it's one less ingredient to get addicted to! I do love the affordability of both of these companies and love other products by them.

Exactly what azelaic acid does to me, I tried changing brand and getting low percentages but all were still the same effect. I thought that maybe my skin will get used to it later but I ended up with very severe post inflammatory hyperpigmentation in addition to the burning.

I’ve tried the Garden of Wisdom Azalaeic serum and recently purchased the one from Face Theory. I’ve enjoyed both, but the GOW is more of a serum consistency. I’ve seen a huge improvement in my hyperpigmentation and overall skin brightness using the FT. It’s a little itchy when I first apply it, so I tend to use it every other day and plan to work my way up to every day. Good tip for anyone that experiences the “itch” is to put it in the fridge! I really wish that I could find similar serums here in the US! I’m not a huge fan of The Ordinary serum because it has a ton of silicone which can tend to break me out. Thanks for the review!

Do you think everyone should have azelaic in their routine ? I have pretty normal skin, no acne, no redness, but I do have some texture, wrinkles and old hyperpigmenttion. I just used up the G&G Apad bottle and though saw some improvements but not sure if it’s completely attributed to that or other products I was using (LED light, tranexemic, vita A, etc). I am not convinced I really need apad since it does add another layer. I guess now that I ran out of the aPad, I can see if my skin is worse without it.

Not a diss to you but their products seem to be just a copy of everyone else’s. I would not put a single cent in that woman’s pocket.

@@tozc2929 I’m just saying that they are accessible to people. You can go right to Target and pick it up instead of having to purchase online. That’s all. I get not a lot of people want to support her brand, but they are immediately available and work well. She was saying in the video that you can’t really find Azelaic acid products in the stores. This one you can get in the store.

I love the face theory one! however I’ve been trying a new one from a brand no one talks about and the formula is really good! It’s a serum that’s not sticky, sinks right in and feels like water! priced at $15.00 for 1oz
    Ingredients: Water,azelaic acid (10%),glycerin,xanthan gum,butylene glycol,propylene glycol,disodium edta,panthenol,salicylic acid,mandelic acid,niacinamide,sodium hyaluronate,euglena gracilis polysaccharide,hydroxyacetophenone 1,2-hexanediol,polysorbate 20,melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil,mentha arvensis leaf extract,hydrangea,macrophylla leaf extract,aloe barbadensis leaf extract,portulaca oleracea extract,chrysanthellum indicum extract,sophora angustifolia root extract.

Compared to the Geek and Gorgeous azelaic acid derivative, APAD, which worked better for redness?

I was wondering the same thing about the G&G. Also don't people say the FC azelaic acid stings? I'm wondering how all 3 compare.

Hi when starting out I would recommend the azelaic acid derivative like Apad, especially for dry and/or sensitive skin. It's much more hydrating and a weaker form as a starting point. I used it for a long time and was happy with it. I've tried the ordinary 10% in the past and the GOW 10% - both were fine, but I wasn't keen on the textures (although I didn't react badly to either). i've recently bumped up to the 15% prescription Finnacea and it's working better on redness, texture and pores than the derivative. I really think I might have had issues with stinging/dryness/irritation, if my skin hadn't already been acclimated through using the others first. As with anything starting with the lower strength and working up is usually the best plan anyway. I hope that helps.
