I got lucky with the three Illuminate sets that I ordered because I ended up loving the books. I am with you I am trying to convince myself to stay a way from another set of books I just moved myself and I downsized so I am trying more reading and less buying.
Yes! First that is awesome you ended up loving them. I'm currently trying to convince myself I don't need to Fairyloot set of "To All the Boys I Loved Before." I absolutely hated the books so I don't need special editions BUT THEY'RE SO PRETTY

That Jay Kristoff special edition looks awesomeI The edges came out really good! The only books I physically have for him is the Nevernight Chronicle Collector's Edition Box Set from LitJoy but haven't read those or his other books yet. My red flag with books is if I like an author, I end up having to read all their books back-to-back and some of his are so thick I know it will take a while for me to read so I've been putting them off. It will totally throw off my read book stats 😆 Last month I read 21 books! Mostly because 12 of them were under 400 pages so I got through them really fast.
I got the limited first edition sprayed edges of The Familiar and read it last month. I have and read the Heartless Hunter special edition from OwlCrate and Crimson Moth special edition from Fairyloot. I prefer Fairloot's edition. I got The Last Bloodcarver also from OC and just finished reading it recently from their April read along and got the Your Blood My Bones special edition as well. That one is pretty. I like how that one came out.
This week I got the special edition GrishaVerse Demon in the Wood graphic novel (it's really cool) from Illumicrate, the limited-edition Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose in the VHS style slipcase and the exclusive Walmart edition with the bloody hand on the cover and deep red sprayed edges. Yes, I got both because I clearly am not right in the head. I also got the limited sprayed edges paperback of The Light That Blinds Us by Andy Darcy Theo. It's his debut book and it seems like it will be good. I think I will be getting the adult Owlcrate for April this week and possibly the YA for Fairyloot since I got the email notification that they shipped. I need to redo my front room and get some shelves because I do not have the room for all the books I've been getting in the last year (and will continue to get). My husband made a comment to me about today 🙃 I may have a few others I forgot about.
OMG I just bought the Jeneva Rose B&N special edition with the slipcase. IT'S SO COOL!!!!! I just HAD to have it.

I have about 40 pages of the familiar left. I am listening to britney Spears Audiobook. I wish I had listened to this one before the Jennette McCurdy one. I'm sure I would have liked it more but now I'm just comparing them in my head. And i've only got two more books in the moral instruments to go which I probably would have been done with that but I decided to read the eldest curses . I feel like it doesn't matter what order I read those books since I've seen in the TV show I know all the spoilers.
Yeah the order really doesnt matter as much as people say it does. I say read in the order you want lol.
I've heard great things about the McCurdy one and definitely need to listen to it eventually
