I think the raven boys has some thriller aspects to it. Especially the dream thieves, which has a hitman. So I think you'll like it.

I guess the "vintage filter effect" may be because the car windows have some kind of filter? Not sure.
I love that edition of "Heme is where the bodies are". I'm very nostalgic about VHS (used them a lot as a kid), and a book with VHS aesthetic looks really really interesting.
    Cute dog!
    Waiting for the Fairyloot vlog.

I'm still reading a Tempest of Tea and grandma just started reading it, so we did a little "reading party" today.
My June LL is in Poland and it should come in a day or two. May LL (re-send) just entered, and is held by customs office.
And I ordered Owlcrate's June book, because somehow they had no waitlist and had leftover June copies (did you see how pretty that one is? But I also love Illumicrate's hardcover). + I realised that shipping from US is only a tiny bit more expensive than shipping from UK (the only difference seems to be the tax).

I did a month dedicated to thriller/horror books just so I could get to some in my TBR that I kept putting off reading all fantasy books. I might do that again in October too because I tend to get lost in the fantasy genre. I read Murder Road and Home is Where the Bodies Are. Murder Road was annoying with that cop that harassed them the whole time and then in the end (you know) I was like, really dude? Home is Where the Bodies are was ok. Better than many I've read and I didn't catch on to the killer right away which is good. I kind of related to the siblings that weren't close. Not because of drug addiction or anything like that, but I have two that I am not particularly close to for other reasons. I haven't read the others. I wasn't super into the premise of the housemaid books so I didn't plan on reading those. I haven't had any thriller/horror books that blew my mind this year. The Guest List was ok (better than Murder Road), the people in it had baggage that unraveled as the story went on so maybe give that one a go? It's about a high profile rich couple who do a destination wedding in Ireland on a private island (I think) and someone is found murdered and it gets messy.

I am trying to get back into thriller but I have not found anything that has caught me like Gone Girl and Sharp Objects. Then Big Little Lies and nine perfect strangers but I have not found anything that has hit as much as those books.

I would have prefered to have the two teenagers as the main characters in Murder Road

Reading with your Mom? That is cool. How about reading with your Dad? Is he still alive? Do you talk to the poor man who worked defending this country to pay for your college and graduate degrees? I wonder if he exists? YD
