THANK YOU. Just brought a 2008 Grand Prix GXP. Thought I had to throw the whole transmission away! Did a little research and stumbled upon you and when I looked at the connection in the engine part, it was disconnected and bad! Just replaced and runnning like a dream

It's good to know how to do this but I was fortunate with not having to replace my cable because it came loose wear it connects to the transmission linkage. I simply place a tie wrap around it to keep it secured. Great video though. I would not have had a clue on how to replace it.

I called for a tow and I told the tow truck, he told me, he has the same car and sometime the linkage falls off, it's under the hood, so he lifted the hood reconnected it and the gear shift was back to normal. Like you said in the video this isn't always gonna be the reason, but for anyone it happens to, it's worth checking that first 🙂

No, I’d just say it was a crazy coincidence. Unless for some odd reason, someone mistakenly remove a bolt for the casing

The 321 are the lower gears pretty much what the do is keep the transmission for shifting out of first second or third gear

Just know the GP's will shift out of the gear regardless if you have it sitting in 1, it will only shift out at the higher side of rpms

Hope this the same for my 07 Impala SS. Except I only need the Shifter part. Right now, when I put it in Park, it's really going into R.

The only thing that would be different is the removal of the center console but it should be the same idea, just different spots for bolts and where plugs go
