In the latest Logic update, the ability to have more than one Drummer track has been added, as have a few new 'personalities' that play electronic kits in various styles.
In the past I would always combine Ultrabeat and Drummer with 2 separate tracks, and have Drummer "follow" Ultrabeat. I didn't realize you can just select Ultrabeat in the Drummer track. You learn something new everyday.
I need help. Can someone tell me how to create a kick/snare from scratch. The keyboard apparently does create any sound with those two types of instruments
When using Drumkit Designer are we limited to these patterns or does this just give us the freedom of editing the snares, kicks and hi hats within that kit? I create hip hop and I like my snares and kicks to vary and not be stuck at specific loop or pattern.
how do I change the velocity of the drum hits in the midi region? when i transfer the drummer track to midi, the hits have various velocities. All I have figured out how to do is copy beats in new places (I.E. I can make a note with velocity x because there already is a note with velocity x). How do I edit the velocity?
Is there any way to separate the midi notes the into different tracks once im happy with my drum pattern? I'd like to mix each drum individually (different EQs, etc..) How does one do that?
+antho slv (th333ly000nz) hiya mate. I was getting annoyed at that too, so my solution (my daw is logic 10 x) is to create as many midi tracks as you want, and literally copy and paste the selected parts you want from the original drum midi track into each respective track. Hope that helps! :)
It seems like you actually have to download each drummer? That's kind of strange. I've already downloaded about 25 GB of other content. You would think that it would be included somewhere in that.
You create the length of the loop by clicking and dragging where the numbers of the bars are. You'll see the yellow strip at that point. Turn it on and off with the little icon that shows the two arrows going in different directions. If you haven't clicked and dragged to set the length of the loop nothing will happen when you click on that icon. It took me days to figure that one out, but there was a video here that showed me how to do it.

where can i find the last AU instruments? 'cause my Logic doesn't have that option, I'm a little bit confused, are they some plugins do i have to download or are they in the latest version of Logic?
You have to go up to where it says 'Logic Pro' in the right hand corner and download 'Additional Content'. The drum files are around 16 gigabytes!! The guy just forgets to mention that, oddly enough.
Does anybody have a clue as to why cutting certain parts of these loops out and/or rearranging their order completely messes with the rest of the loop? If I just want to cut out a high hat, for example, and use that sound by itself to transition from a chorus to a verse without the rest of the loop continuing to play, I'm basically unable to do that...
+Emile Nijmeh It's weird, but it's because every drummer region is rendered by algorithms based on the settings entered. If one of the variables changes then that affects how the rest are calculated. If you've decided you like the pattern you have, you can select it, copy it, and paste it to a new software instrument track, and it will paste as regular MIDI data. Change that track's preset to the drum kit you were using and you can edit to your heart's content.
Yes, all very good except the guy who is doing the demo sounds like he is totally bored with the whole process. He sounds like the know all tech guy form "The Office", poor chap.....
I'm not a drummer, but why are all the snares landing on beat 3 of every bar. What if I wanted the snare on 2 and 4 instead why does it seem so difficult to get a pattern like. Apologize for my ignorance in advance.
+AHI That's not ingnorance, I'm coming at it from the opposite angle to you and I'm trying to learn how to make drum tracks on this but lack technical knowledge like putting the snare on 2 and 4 so it helps me to learn more if someone who can play the drums asks questions like this. I'm not used to using these daws to make music, but it is the way it's going and for someone like myself who is probably too old to go gigging and learning that way it's something that's going to have to be learned bit by bit. At first I was scared to touch anything in case I made a mess of it or broke the program, now I'm playing about with it and learning a bit more everytime, take it easy. I would like to make Heavy Dub and wonder if it can be done with this program?
With the drums selected, click on Smart controls. And then 'controls' at the bottom (not the EQ bit) in there you'll see a wood effect panel. Simply click on the lights to switch on or off each element of the kit. Here's a good video on it ua-cam.com/video/hlc9ePlE5d0/v-deo.html

Great video thanks 🙏

+Official Kon You can drag and drop any audio file onto drum kit designer to change the sounds

can kicks, snares, hats etc be assigned to different channels for better mixing?thanx
yes
Does the the follow feature follow midi or does it have to be rendered as audio first ?

I can see the drum designer window but I can't figure out how to change to different drummers or see the window with the actual drumset
wait, so does logic pro have a custom drum designer? like cubase has, or a regular drum machine that doesn't pre-play everything for you?
this!!!^^^
Great information... Lookup beatgenerals through here they now have lots of excellent fl studio teachings!!
How can I make the drum loop (that yellow bar up there)? I've been looking all over for a tutorial or something. I'm pretty new to logic.
Normally you'll find the loop button next to a tuner, count-in, metronome buttons!
You create the length of the loop by clicking and dragging where the numbers of the bars are. You'll see the yellow strip at that point. is there anyway of slowing down the tempo of the drum tracks?
Yes, click into the "tempo" field at the top of the screen, change it.. hit enter. Have a play with it.
13:34 for MIDI switching inquiries!
That’s exactly why I came here! Yes!!
Yes, all very good except the guy who is doing the demo sounds like he is totally bored with the whole process. He sounds like the know all tech guy form "The Office", poor chap.....
Just make a better one...

You can edit them once you conver them to MIDI.

That "follow bass line" feature is rather amazing, but I can see it being completely overused in - ooh - 5 minutes by absolutely everyone!
i sware its exactly garageband but advenced
+Merlin's Channel I think your right about that, the interface is so similar but advenced
How can I have the Snare, Kick, And hi hat on separate channels>

how do I watch this? haha...just watch that damn movie trailer crap then it...stops
It's playing OK for us. Maybe a UA-cam glitch? Try watching again :)
It has something to do with dang Safari. I swear Safari is getting worse and worse. It plays fine with Firefox, Chrome so... At least I can watch now!
Weird! Glad you were able to enjoy the video at last :)
+dajzilla use a PC and a Mac, watch PC, work on Mac
This is more or less a "what to" or "what I" not a "HOW TO" - the tracks are all premade, your not showing noobs "how to" make a drum track - fail
