    So, I figured it out after few minutes of exploring: You forgot to mention in the Intro that this tutorial is applicable to MIDI tracks only controlled with External Midi Device. The software provides a totally different features and behaves differently when you are working with other type of tracks.

    I’m still amazed at the functionality of newer daws. I used to use cubase five, sound forge, recycle just to split up beats. It’s flipping amazing.

    Thanks a lot for the effort. Think you should mention the Output in DMD - how to get the exact key you want and also touch upon the Group function of the kits.

    I love DMD. When it first came out, I switched from NI Battery and haven’t looked back. A lot of new drum sample players look cool, but they’re limited to 8 lanes or 16 at best (meaning you need multiple instances). One issue I have is not really DMD, but managing patterns. The patterns in Step Editor are not the same as patterns in the loop browser. It seems Logic has at least 2 different, yet incompatible, methods for patterns. And while I prefer working with pattern regions, there’s limited capabilities - like no cut, paste, duplicate. Ultimately, I end up with my patterns in midi / piano roll Step Editor, but no single way on managing beat / patterns.

    How does one add Logic Drummer’s acoustic drum elements - say a kick drum - to Drum designer. Fantastic tutorial, by the way.

    I only started using DMD a few days ago, based on a Logic Loop that I liked... spent these few days messing around with it, but never fully understood this meta-plugin's capabilities until watching this video. Mind 🤯.
    Quick question: I have a track onto which I pulled a yellow Logic drummer loop. I created 5 different variations of this drummer loop on the same track. Would I be able to take these 5 variations, pull them into DMD, and have them all split into separate tracks (for ex: for mixing purposes, where I can send the individual drum parts to a mixing engineer for better mixing)...?

    Damn dude, awesome video. I'm just getting into Logic, coming from Cubase, Live and Reason and honestly it has everything I need. One thing I'd like to know about DMD is if it's possible to map multiple MIDI keys to a single pad? I want to create a track stack containing Superior Drummer 3 (or GGD or whatever) for acoustic drums, and then DMD for metal drum trigger samples, to beef them up. I play keyboard style so I need kicks on B0 and C0 and snares on D1 and E1, but I'd like to be able to load samples and adjust the sound for just one kick and snare sample, rather than having to manage two separate pads. Is this possible?

    Have you done a video on plugging an expression pedal into Logic? I can never get mine to work. I've seen others do videos on this but they almost always plug into special midi hardware first. I'm talking about quarter inch cable from pedal into (in my case) an IK Multimedia AXE I/O interface. I know the Mac is seeing it because it works in stand-alone programs (Amplitube 5). There has to be a setting somewhere in Logic that content creators have switched on already but always fail to mention in their videos. Any help would be appreciated!

    When I preview a kick in the Drum Machine Designer, it sounds perfect (like it has optimized presets). But when I try the same kick in my tracks, it sounds dull & lifeless. How can I get the kick to sound like it does in the DMD preview? Any help is appreciated. Not sure if my question makes sense.

    Hi Chris, How do you go about tracking out the individual drum tracks to audio? Is there an easy way to do it?

    • @eplecor
      @eplecor Рік тому

      I found some convoluted way to do it which I don’t even remember. This is my main issue with DMD. I want to bounce my tracks to edit the audio, line up timings manually etc.

    • @jamesnyers1721
      @jamesnyers1721 Рік тому

      @@eplecor Just curiosity. Why is that useful? I always keep everything in DMD. By the way if you want audio, you can bounce tracks in place. DMD is so much more elegant than audio regions. Pair it with an iPad, Logic remote loaded and it is amazing. Like a real drum machine, touch surface.

    • @eplecor
      @eplecor Рік тому +1

      @@jamesnyers1721when you send tracks for mixing they need audio tracks of each individual sound. That’s the main reason but I also like to manually edit the timing of each hit

    Hey Chris, thank you for sharing this video! I have a question, I'd like to use four different DMDs in my project, one per band: low-end, low-mid, mid, high to have more control and use different effect chains. But every time I create a new DMD, it also creates AUX channels for reverb and delay which makes my project cluttered, do you know if there is a way to avoid this?
