I am a sleep technologist and the equipment the girl was wearing was definitely for a sleep study. It measures respiratory effort, stages of sleep, and a bunch of other things. Its not as bad as it looks😉.
3:43 I’ve had a bunch of those things on me before for different doctors appointments and stuff. I’m not 100% sure what it’s for. I think a lot of the time they are used to measure your heartbeat when you are going to have a surgery. I think they are also used to test your sleeping and know the patterns more. I’ve had one of those appointments and it’s a bit difficult falling asleep there. I think I did have some of those on at that appointment but I don’t remember for sure. With the context of the video it seems to be it’s for getting information of things while you sleep

I had a sleep study recently and had all those wires on me, and it was actually much easier to sleep than I thought it would be! According to my sleep tech, I slept very well. I also didn’t move much so there was no wire adjustment necessary or anything. When I woke up I did NOT feel rested though (but that’s normal for me unfortunately). My doctors still have no idea what’s wrong with me 😃

3:44 yes Kris, I believe that is for an EEG (I’ve had a few). long story short I always fell asleep in class and at home even on a strict sleeping schedule and my first EEG was done after I accidentally fell asleep while driving and totaled my car…👍🏻 you get minimal sleep before, no caffeine, and then they put this goop on the spots they need and connect the reader node things all over your head and put all the wires in one place. Then you wear this breathing monitor thing so they can track that too. They darken the room and flash this strobe light and you’re told to keep your eyes open and then close your eyes for a few seconds of rest and then do it a few more times but the strobe light gets faster and faster. And then they ask if you need anything and then you (try to) go to sleep. So yeah. Btw if you happen to be reading this ILYSM and I think you are killin it at life rn and I’m proud even if sometimes you don’t feel proud ❤️❤️❤️

@@giamaxon9206 it’s not that fun and they actually never found exactly what makes me so sleepy (I found in my experience that if my depression is bad i tend to sleep a lot) but they did find that I was at risk for seizures even tho I’ve never had one in my life

3:43 for those who don't know. She is wearing machines for a sleep study to test for things like sleep apnea and such. As someone who has had multiple sleep studies and gas been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I can definitely say these things are uncomfortable. And the gel gets stuck on your skin and hair. But you will fall asleep if you are tired enough.
My daughter just had a oximetry machine home for 24h last week as she has OSA and it was just oxygen tubes up her nose and then into this small machine to see what points her oxygen drops when sleeping and she had a monitor attached from her toe to the machine. It was nothing like this poor lady and she hardly slept so I couldn’t imagine her with that machine in the video on her! X
I didn't know that thanks but also when u go to the hospital and u get an epilepsy check up overnight its like the same so they have small metal suction cup but not like a rubber one it just looks like one and they are attached to wires and you are hooked up to a machine but the put bandages and a cover that when you put it one they look like cat ears and they put them on to stop the stuff falling off or you touching it and they use a Gel and it takes days to get the feeling out of your hair it sucks I have had it many times but the fun part is it shows ur brain waves on a screen and it looks like you have wires for hair hehe
@@Mia_whittal my daughter has had so many EEG tests but hers are only ever for a morning or afternoon (wish they did overnight in our NHS hospital where we live!) and she always ends up looking like Medusa with all the wires they glued in😂 My daughter hats the smell of the glue paste they use to glue them on to her head. No matter how many times she washes her hair after, it’s a bloody nightmare to get out!

My mum's a nurse and once told me this story. Set before COVID existed Once this primary school class (I think they were around years 2 or 3) went to a hospital, and there was those little stands with hand sanitiser (as most hospitals did even back before COVID) so the kids all put some on their hands, but this one girl, weirdly licked her hands. And as the class went through the hospital, the girl kept putting hand sanitiser onto her hands and kept licking it off, over and over again, it wasn't until the class was back in their classroom did people realise she was acting odd (later on my mum said she thinks the girl got up onto a table or something), the girl was drunk. She had to go to hospital and get her stomach pumped or something, I think/hope she's better though.

3:43 for those who don't know. She is wearing machines for a sleep study to test for things like sleep apnea and such. As someone who has had multiple sleep studies and gas been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I can definitely say these things are uncomfortable. And the gel gets stuck on your skin and hair. But you will fall asleep if you are tired enough.

My daughter just had a oximetry machine home for 24h last week as she has OSA and it was just oxygen tubes up her nose and then into this small machine to see what points her oxygen drops when sleeping and she had a monitor attached from her toe to the machine. It was nothing like this poor lady and she hardly slept so I couldn’t imagine her with that machine in the video on her! X
I didn't know that thanks but also when u go to the hospital and u get an epilepsy check up overnight its like the same so they have small metal suction cup but not like a rubber one it just looks like one and they are attached to wires and you are hooked up to a machine but the put bandages and a cover that when you put it one they look like cat ears and they put them on to stop the stuff falling off or you touching it and they use a Gel and it takes days to get the feeling out of your hair it sucks I have had it many times but the fun part is it shows ur brain waves on a screen and it looks like you have wires for hair hehe
@@Mia_whittal my daughter has had so many EEG tests but hers are only ever for a morning or afternoon (wish they did overnight in our NHS hospital where we live!) and she always ends up looking like Medusa with all the wires they glued in😂 My daughter hats the smell of the glue paste they use to glue them on to her head. No matter how many times she washes her hair after, it’s a bloody nightmare to get out!

My mum's a nurse and once told me this story. Set before COVID existed
Once this primary school class (I think they were around years 2 or 3) went to a hospital, and there was those little stands with hand sanitiser (as most hospitals did even back before COVID) so the kids all put some on their hands, but this one girl, weirdly licked her hands. And as the class went through the hospital, the girl kept putting hand sanitiser onto her hands and kept licking it off, over and over again, it wasn't until the class was back in their classroom did people realise she was acting odd (later on my mum said she thinks the girl got up onto a table or something), the girl was drunk.
She had to go to hospital and get her stomach pumped or something,
I think/hope she's better though.

My dad once made a joke about the sanitiser thing: two guys in a cabin finish all their booze, and there’s only a bottle of sanitiser left. So they ponder on wether they should drink it. If you didn’t know, drinking sanitiser can make you go blind, but you can get inebriated off of it. One if them says “well I guess we’ve seen enough of this world” it’s not the most funny thing but my dad thinks it stand up comedy
Where I live, sanitizer has a chemical added to it that makes you vomit immediately upon ingestion.
I was in treatment with a guy who had drank hand sanitizer and it made his livers start failing.
