    I'm curious whether I should apply more varnish after I remove the rivulets, but before I apply that light coat of polyurethane
    What do you think?

      I guess the risk is you’d want to avoid a darker spot, which if you add more tinted varnish it might happen. My advice is to look closely and see if sanding brought the surface back down to the wood. If not then just the light coat of poly should do.
