    I’ve been thinking I wanted the Alpha Omega 500 for an instrumental band but this video convinced me no - I want the Microtubes v2. What convinced me? I only play Fender basses. And you only demoed Fender basses. And every single tone was better than what I’ve been hearing in my head. I’m beyond excited for the first time I get to bring this bad boy to practice.

    As a player that relies on attack a lot (very percussive pick player, round wound, p-bass) I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Micro vs AO. I was leaning towards the Mesa WD or TT, but after diving into the Darkglass offerings, I'm leaning towards DG. TIA!

  • @lucagarciaferrari

    Hey Amos! I loved this video, your whole channel is fantastic.
    What I wanted to ask you about, and I don't mean to repeat the same question that someone else has asked, but how much power does this amp run at 4ohms? I've heard you say that it runs 500W at 2ohms, but it feels weird that it only runs at its most powerful at an impedance that a lot (I'd even hazard saying most) of cabs don't have. Especially considering the fact that the MT500 v1 ran 500W at 4ohms.
    I'm only asking because I bought a v1 late last year, and through some stupidity I managed to toast it. My insurance is replacing it with a v2 though, so it should be fine. The problem is that I was planning on getting a 4ohm markbass cab for it (because they're light and sound lovely), but if the v2 runs 500W at 2ohms I'm going to have to rethink my choice.

    • @jacksonwrightmusic6805
      @jacksonwrightmusic6805 3 роки тому +4

      From the manual:
      Minimum Load Impedance: 2Ω
      Maximum Power Output: 500 Watts RMS @ 4Ω (1khz
      full blast 2 min max) 20%THD
      450 Watts RMS @ 8Ω

      @@jacksonwrightmusic6805 Sorry to nitpick but It's actually 250 W RMS @ 8Ω. Which makes more sense as most well built amps will drive half the watts at double the ohms. Should be enough for my 400W NYC-RJ Markbass Cab.

      @samuelparra1510 3 роки тому

      I was wondering the same. I’ve watched other reviews on this amp, and no one speaks concerning how it functions. I suppose the amp automatically adjusts the proper ohms to the bass cabinet. (Best to read the manual).

  • @gary999t
    @gary999t 3 роки тому +1

    Is the Microtubes engine as good as the VMT and B3K pedals, and does the compression match the Hyper Luminal?
    It looks like this amp could save money on pedal purchases.

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  3 роки тому +2

      Great question. I would say that this doesn’t *replace* the pedals you mention-especially the HL. The MT500 has only the single knob, and while it’s a good-sounding comp it doesn’t have the range or control of the HL.
      the MT500 is a great amp, and has nods to some other DG creations that expand its usefulness, but I’d say it’s not a replacement for the level of control you’d get from both pedals.
