That Gibson G3 in intro sounds just right with this amp
There's a reason Darkglass is featured so often on so many channels. They make the best sounding bass gear.
Yeah man like I'm gonna be going to college this year and I'm gonna try get a part time job for after the college day and try save up for a darkglass rig they sound wicked cuz I'm gonna try join a band at college.
10:49 made. my. day. (and made me spill my coffee).
Me: * about to go to bed *
The Bass Channel:
Thanks a lot for this detailed review, guys. Now I've finally decided I'll get one of these bass heads. it is just too awesome. It's like having 3 Darkglass pedals in one amp. Sounds amazing. Greetings from Chile!
Yes! I always enjoy your gear reviews when in a real mix and in a few styles. I play with multiple bands with multiple styles so these are always very helpful.
This head sounds damn good.
I agree
Josh Dubois is a total badass.
Josh is THE man! love his Wick - albeit the Dingwall was killer too - and that Gibson sounded great at the end. I can take or leave DG stuff - but the player makes a huge diff as well. Great vid guys.
3:40 I can imagine Geddy Lee might have tried DG gear, since was a pioneer in blending clean and distorted tones, since this bit has some Rush flavour going on IMHO.
wow best zoom b3 review ever! been searching for something like this for years! great work, keep it up! 👏🏼👏🏼
Daaaamn I have B7K Ultra, but at around 14:00 mark I like the VMT better than B3K. I'm blown away, works much better with the mix than B3K.
Love my Gibson G3, it can be a real monster.
best demo of this device!
Still torn between the DG microtubes 500 and the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. Years ago i had a Ampeg SVT3 Pro and absolutely LOVED it, but i no longer have it, and ive been stuck in the digital realm ever since. Im looking to buy a new amp, and instead of going the SVT3 route again (mainly paying 1,250 for a head and then still a cab) i want to get something more modern and a little cheaper. I love the Aguilar Tone Hammer tone and i think its more what im looking for tonally, but the DG Microtube sounds fantastic and is super versatile, and i love the emulated cab sim output.
Think im going to try the Microtubes 500 first. Its crazy how versatile that thing is
Recently bought a Microtubes 900 and my bandmates really like the sound of Darkglass. I too have been playing Ampeg SVT 3 for many years and gone through a few. Very happy with the versatility of the Microtubes 900.
The tone at 14:06 😩🔥👌
Beautiful demonstration
What cover is Josh playing at 3:43
Warwicks and DG. Woof.
This is a genuine question but do spector own warick bass or does warick bass own spector or are they 2 different brands completely. Just asking as they have some very similar looking models?
Warwick and Spector are both different brands. Spector is an American brand and Warwick is a German brand. Warwick makes literally every part of their basses, although their Streamer body types does seem to rip off spector.
The riffs are incredible! Thank's for the review, it REALLY helps! Could you please tell me the name of the song at the start of video, as weel as the name of the one played by live band (red swirl Dingwall)? Thank's!
The song at the top is “We Ride the Skies” by Lunar Satan and as far as the live song, I honestly can’t remember which song we used off the top of my head but look up King’s Revenge wherever you stream music and it should be one of the first three tracks.
Apart from the Tool intro, this thing sounds like a rusty bucket getting belted with a stick. When going for something cool and clear, it sounds very muted. This is a metal-head amp.
So is the Volume of the DI controlled by the Master Volume Knob?
Great demo guys!
Can you use the DIs without attaching a cab in the speaker outs?
Thanks! Yes, you can.
Around 11 minutes into the video whats that multi-scaled red 5 string bass with a maple neck? Its gorgeous! I probably cant afford one, but I definitely want to look into one
That's a Dingwall, I can't tell if it's an NG2 or a Combustion tho
@@QaysSyed thanks for your response. Just looking up Dingwall and man are they beautiful!
@@orryfishburne5326 You can't go wrong with a Dingwall, only thing keeping me from one is the price tag
@@QaysSyed yea that price tag is a little to steep for me as well. It would be nice to own one though
Does it not have the ERA that the vintage pedals have?
Does it lose any low end with the drive?
Hi! Very Nice Video! I was wondering, what the Midi plug be used for? Because it's the only feature on the amp that you didn't talked about. Thank You! ^_^
This video should help explain: ua-cam.com/video/iBj_onHWGu8/v-deo.html
But in the case of this amp, a MIDI controller will control the compressor and drive channel
Question. Why use a kick drum mic?
This is my next rig for sure. First rig*
There is a lot of distorsion, is that the amp? The clean tones seems very closed. Thanks for the review!
It has a dirty and clean channel.
so what is this? a modelling amp?
What is the five-string fretless bass used near the end of the video?
Looks like a semihollow Fodera
"The best damn Jazz Bass I have every played!" (Tell me... did you also balance this one by the headstock, showing off in a dive bar, then drop and break it, basically destroying a focused, year long effort? Or did you let this one slide?)
😂😂
i love this channel
The first part sound really closely to Tool
Can one DI be "clean" and the other DI "dirty" and used simultaneously?
Yes
Whats the song name?
This is a metal bass head. It’s very twangy and metallic.
you see that EQ? Yehhhhh, you can modify that sound.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Do I need to use an amp with this?
WTF! This IS an amp.
What is the bass played at 6:40 ?
Prs
I'd get the distortion pedal, but not the amp
That Fodera sounded awful. For a bass at that price you think they would have levelled the frets.
Now I’m finding out about it and it’s out of stock … PORQUEEE!!!!
Someone can tell me how I can use it on Cubase? Please
It's missing a tube pre. Other than that, it sounds groovy.
(uh god what's on the singer's voice? love exciters but up to a certain extent, this has my ears bleeding... great review as always by the way!)
Overhyped
F*cking sounds...😜😜😜😜😜🤪
need to work on your timing nick
An i the only one that dont think that Darkglass sounds good? I just dont like the sound. Plz dont hate me
I like darkglass its a killer brand. I have pedals from them but as an amp definitely ampeg.
I may be wrong, and folks just typically play them all the same, but they definitely feel like they are a voiced amplification. I've seen some reviewers say, "It does the darkglass thing really well." If it's what you're looking for I say go for it, but I'm not sure they are necessarily the best platform to build your own voice with. I've got mixed thoughts on them I guess.
I think all amps are voiced. Fender, Ampeg, Markbass, Trace, GK ... they all have their own voice. It’s just a matter of finding the voice you like and going with it. I personally love Markbass. It I can see where this would be useful. Kind of re,I do’s me how my MB sounds with my Tech 21 Sansamp. Might be a way to reduce my pedalboard ...
you are not alone, it’s a lot of hype. honestly DG has 100 different types of fart sounds. using them without distortion is ok, but why not just use a clean boost at that point?
They say they don't voice the heads from everything I've read they are flat . Alowing you your own sound . But that being said alot of there stuff does have a very distinct sound. I've seen alot of videos with great clean tone as well . I'll find out soon I just picked up a dg mt 900 v2 . Looking forward to putting it through its paces.
