- "Distortion is your lead's best friend" aka "Programming a #Jens #Johansson #lead sound patch" aka "Ops i did it again".
(This thing is hunting me since 1997).
In this case programming on Korg Triton and Kronos in the past was not really relevant cause fx routing is different on the #Roland #Fa06 and signal/matrix too. The sound is at 70% and need more tweaking.
Anyway. I tried it with Morley Jd10, and after that i decided to use, obviously, the internal effects.
"Just" two saw waves, running through some fx (shake them!!!) and a distortion + amp simulator.
After that, tweak a lot! And trust (and not) your ears. Probably ad libitum. 😓😭🤯😱🤪😎
Need some moral help cause you are addicted to this thing just like me? DM! We will cry together.
Gear: Roland FA06 (onboard fx only)
Backtrack: by Mr Jens Johansson himself. lol

Perfectttt
OMG!!! That sounds great!!!!
Could you make a video tutorial of this tone? I have a roland fa 06 and would like to get to that level. Congratulations on the video.
I already have to do a lite tutorial for korg triton series / m3, m50 and krome series as i promised to some users...You'll can check that if you want, the basis are pretty the same.
@@Fababow I will wait to watch. thanks!
@@davi4946 you are welcome, and thank you for the subscription. I appreciate it!
It sounds legit! Quick question, the FA has the "synth reed" waveform? Try using it, it gives a "thicker" sound
Nevertheless, BRAVO!!!
I gone through all the "waves" availables (pcm included) and no synth reed is available. Now i'm curious! Lol. Do you have some examples to show me how it could sounds?
@@Fababow sure thing brother! There's a vid of a tribute to bodom that I'm playing the keys on it, try typing something like "hate me tribute mike" something like that hahaha, I actually got the sound schematic from jens himself a few years ago
Let me know if you found it, in any case i could share the schematic
@@JenssieGZ couldnt find anything searching those words on YT. Is the video on your channel or somewhere else?
@@Fababow ua-cam.com/video/uGm_1WSXalA/v-deo.html try this link man, hoping it will work!
Great sound. And GREAT performance of everybody guys. As a COB fan i'm pleased to have discovered such a tribute! I liked and commented!!!
Hello there! Great sound, but I was wandering if you could do some tutorial on the sound on Korg Krome. I am trying but with no resolution. I more or less have the clean signal, but the distortion is horrible and I am powerless against that cursed sound :D
Keep up the good work!
I dont have a Krome, but i programmed a similar sound on Karma/TritonExtreme/M50 long time ago. If i remember correctly Krome has 5 ifx and 2mfx right?
@@Fababow Oh, shame, but thanks anyway.
Yeah, and one tfx at the end
Just like the Kronos. I programmed this lead when i put my hands on a Kronos, so i guess the architecture will be the same. But sadly i could only do a tutorial on M50/Triton.
@@Fababow Well I think m50 and krome would have a lot in common.
But on Kronos you used Polysix, am I right? 'Cause thats not on Krome.
@@alesarivavruska3718 nope i did not use polysix emu, just pcm sound from hi synthesis engine.
what is the name of the song?
It's an unnamed backtrack
Cool sound man! I'lll definitely give it a shot.. BTW, did you check the lead created by Janne for integra7? Crazy Leads!
Hey, thank u dude!!!!🙏🏻.... reguarding Janne, nope, can you link me something about this lead?
@@Fababow Sure, he designed it for integra-7.. Though they said these sounds are for integra only but you can load the supernatural synths as FA was integrated from integra7.. unfortunately you can't load PCMs but only two leads,, check them out

@@chotonbarua5049 thank you so much! I will check it out!!!
Where to find this sound ?
It's a self made custom sound.
@@Fababow can you share it with me?
How did u get this dude???
2 saw waves. One for the "body" and another for the " click/feedback" slightly detuned. Filter cutoff at more or less 50%, , resonance at 30%. Work on keytracking to have the same response in every part of the keybed ( otherwise you could have a too much "thin" sound on higher notes"), both lfos set on sine, added some filter modulation. The hard part is in the fx. Sadly fa06 is limited on what/ where you can put fxs. Keep in mind you'll need somethin that "moves the sound" like a flanger/phaser/pitchshifter/chorus, a distortion+amp simulator (do not distort frequencies over 4khz and above 100hz) and an fx for the " time and space" like a delay/reverb. Tweak a lot and trust your ears.
@@Fababow if you check my channel and see the korg kross review video, i created a similar lead but its not the Jens lead. Its just a normal power metal lead but the point u mentioned about that thin sounding high notes is so true! I am not good with programming so will actuallly need to tweak a lot! But I love Bodom so much that I’ll be getting this keyboard!
I will check it! I programmed my first leads on Korg Triton series (i have a Karma, a Rack and an Extreme) and lately i did it on M50 and on a Korg Kronos and a Krome, so if you need some help and you have Instagram, feel free to message me @fababow
Cheers!
@@Fababow Hey could you make a tutorial for the FA or share the Studio Set ?, I Have a FA and have nothing like your sound, it's amaizing !!
@@eduardoantonio6432 hello Eduardo! I dont know if i'll have the time to make a full tutorial for the FA. More probably i will try to do a short vid with general guidelines to achieve this kind of sound indipendently about the gear used. (I programmed it on Korg firstly and on Roland Fa series recently) Here some starting tips: 2 saw waves, cutoff between 45 and 60 and reso at a lower rate (it depends on your taste), set the lfo to modulate a little the sound, after that you'll need to spend some time on the fx. Basically you will need something to give movement to the sound ( a flanger/chorus), a distortion set on low medium frequencies (no need to distort under 100hz and above 4000) and something to give space to the sound (a delay/reverb).
