I used a guitar effect pedal in this video. You can use a synthesizer's built-in distortion instead. The important point is to turn down the treble of the distortion.
Been trying to get this sound for 20 years, thanks for the in depth tutorial! Could you please explain why did you choose to use external effects and not the built-in FX in the Kronos?
Thank you!I'm glad my video was helpful to you. To make a Jens lead you should learn from Jens own settings. You must always use external effect pedals, especially distortion effectors. Kronos' internal effects are excellent, but hence the resolution is too high. By daring to lo-fi the sound quality by using external effects pedals, the highs and lows of the frequency range are shaved off, resulting in a comfortable sound, in my opinion.
Hi! I have not assigned any parameters to mod wheel in this video. Also, KRONOS LS does not have aftertouch, so I have not assigned anything to aftertouch either. In the old Jens Lead, which used Polysix as its sound source, there are no parameters to assign to the mod wheel or LFO. In the recent Jens Lead, which uses the JV1080 as its sound source, the mod wheel is assigned the same tone one octave lower. LFO is also assigned to aftertouch. These are the results of my research.
@@kerederoom78 thanks! I've had a great result using the Korg collection of plugins! The polysix plugin is great and then I use brainworks bx black distortion. I have a Jv1080 but it seems I can't get to make the tone there. I have to continue learning to get there. Thanks again!
Very helpfull information thanks ! I saw in your video, that you are using the Yamaha PSE 40A board with korg pedal and one Yamaha, and you are using the PME 40X board here with the Yamaha pedal, do there is huge difference between those two for that sound or in quality in general? Of course the Morley is doing the huge part of the job here at the end, but i'm wondering, becaus the price on the used market between the Yamaha and Korg is huge. Thanks in advance :)
Thanks for the comment! I believe that both YAMAHA PSE40A and KORG PME40X are manufactured by the same manufacturer, Korg, and are so-called OEM (original equipment manufacturer). So there is not much difference between their pedalboards, and they can share the same cartridges. (I assume that Jens used only distortion on the PME40X.) As you know, Jens used PME40X distortion and Polysix in early years Then there was a transition in equipment from the Morley JD10 and Polysix to the JD10 and Roland JV1080. I wanted to create a variety of Jens leads. If I had to choose one, I would recommend buying the JD10.
@@kerederoom78 thank you for your answere ! Yes the JD10 is the main toy, sadly it's kinda impossible to found :/ But im happy to ear that the PSE and PME are similar, the price difference is quit noticeable. even if i want to use them for fun and not only for Jens Sounds, it help me to make a choice between the two. I know that I will not sound like him at the end, even with a similar setup. The way that I and he play is different. But i want to creat something Crispy and clean as he did. I"ve listened to that sound everyday during my teenager haha
It's interesting, this isn't too far from a Jan Hammer sound, and there isn't oscillator sync. He can be seen playing Star Cycle live with Jeff Beck, where he's using Triton Extreme for both the sequence and the lead sound!
When i put the bus to 1 in the ifx tab, the sound stops working.. is that because of some global setting? Anyway awesome lead, really close to jens’s one!
Thanks! Check the following two settings. 1. Global Setting / Basic / Audio / INPUT 1 Bus Select (IFX/Indiv.) : IFX1 (or L/R) LEVEL : 127 2. PROGRAM / COMMON / IFX (P8: Insert Effect) / Routing Bus Select (IFX/Indiv. Out Assign) : Exi1&2 to 1
Thank you so much! Sorry, I can't make a video about the Jens Lead on the JV1080 for a few reasons, please see my other video for a tutorial on the Jens Lead almost similar to the JV1080. ua-cam.com/video/luWXWT9UoFA/v-deo.html
Nice video, but 90 % of this sound is obtained by external equipment 😅 he uses Roland jv and another kind of guitar distortion but your result is fitting very well! No clues about BP filter and velocity? And pwm modulation? I think that with your equipment you can improve a lot with those 2 things, imho 😮
Still Watching and I can assure you that you're a God for budding rock Keyboardists. God Bless you❤️
Thanks for your compliment, I really appreciate it!
Man! I love your videos :D
Thank you so much, George!
I love both Roland p6emu lead and KORG real P6 one :)
Se podrá hacerlo en un korg trinity?.
Muchas gracias!
Well there. Thank you very much.
You’re welcome!
Amazing!!! Thanks!
You’re welcome!
This is very good. What external distortion effect pedal are you using? And what are the settings for the distortion effect? Thank you!
Slight reverb is missing
Great tutorial! I’ll try something similar in the Korg P6 vst.
Yeah, this tutorial can be applied to other P6 vst!
@@kerederoom78 How did you get the Heavy Metal Lead sound? Does it come from the Distortion effect in the Keyboards or the Effect pedals themselves?
