Please don’t buy one 😭, if you got 15k to really bullet proof one, not a dollar tree bulletproof, by all means get one. But if you don’t, save yourself the headache, there’s a reason why they are 7k-12k on marketplace
I own a 04 F-250 w/6.0 powerstroke with original HPOP, headstuds, injectors, etc. As a matter of fact, the only internal engine component that has been replaced is the oil cooler. That was the first thing I did on the truck when I bought it with 52k original miles. When I replaced the oil cooler I installed a Bulletproof diesel egr cooler and upgraded the turbo oil supply line and drain tube. I have continued to upgrade components over the years, regulated return, Bulletproof FICM, Mitsimoto radiator, coolant filter, Bulletproof water pump, Fluidamper, MBRP 4" turboback exhaust to increase power and reliability. I run Amsoil 5w-40 w/8oz's of Hotshotsecret every oil change. I change my oil every 10k and my oil filter every 5k. Fuel filters get changed every 10k. I replaced my lift pump at 150k which is the service life of the pump. None of these components ever failed, they were known weaknesses of the six liter so they replaced as preventative maintenance items. I pulled 5 loads ranging from 12-15k lbs from Burney CA to Kansas City Missouri, then back empty pulling a 20' car hauler, zero issues. Truck has 220k miles currently with more than half pulling the mountains f California, Oregon, and Washington. This is by far the best truck i have ever owned.
End of an amazing era. 😢 Hey man, as a family guy myself, I totally respect what you’re doing. A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do to support his family and his wife and be there for them. God smiles at you from above.
I'm going to sell my f150 within a year to purchase a 6.0 to tow our camper. Seeing you make that kind of mpg will actually save me gas money because my truck averages 8.5. If diesel stays within $1 per gal of 87, i'm good! I'm going to try and copy what you've done to the truck. I appreciate your videos man.
My former wife and daughter's mom is from Conway, Arkansas. My daughter is a Razorbacks fan. When I drove OTR between 15-16, loved me some I-40 between Oklahoma and Barstow California. Scenery was gorgeous, reminded me of Afghanistan (the parts of Afghanistan where the Haji wasn't trying to blow us up😂). The mountain in Flagstaff is awesome to look at on a clear day. Enjoy your content. You do great work. God Bless- Rob from Pace, Florida
There is still nothing like the sunset in the middle east. I didn't do the Afghan tour, but did several to Iraq. As much as I hated that stink hole, the sunsets were on another level.
Yea that full moonrise at FOB Shank was definitely a sight to behold! I missed Iraq, but got the smell of that alluring odor of Poo Pond when my unit ran out of Kandahar!
First off I want welcome you to Cali and thank you for showing some love to the 6.0 Powerstroke. I have respect for anything that can make horsepower but I'm a Ford guy for life. I'm in central Cali and I own 3 6.0's myself. Hope to possibly work with you in the future.
This is the exact video that I was looking for. I've always loved my early Super Dutys, especially with the V10 zf5 combo. I'm selling my 21 6.7 F350 and looking at getting into an 05 6.0. I think it's going to work perfect for my uses. Thanks for the great video.
Good to see you back on the west coast without a truck stop motor swap! So building a shop at the homestead, Smart! I own my building and It still isn't cheep to run it!
I am definitely going to buy a 6.0L powerstroke diesel someday because it is a nice sounding diesel and it is the best diesel ever built and the most reliable diesel. Nice truck by the way man. King ranch Ford f250 that's a sharp truck. The 6.0L is very reliable and powerful at pulling trailers and hauling stuff. Nice video man. I hope to see plenty more.
Im running hotshot with my 6.0. 43k lb From MI to FL every week. 05 F450 stick 400k miles 2 headgaskets stock turbo 30% over injectors upgraded fuel & exhaust getting 16mpg loaded i love my 6.0
God bless ya man! So happy for you, finally home with the family. I know how it feels being gone for years at a time. You will take off in no time out there. We all love the content, can't wait to see the compound setup you put together. Doesn't seem very popular with the 6.0 crowd, probably something to do with 4 head bolts vs 6 lol.
Great video Josh! It was said to see you leave WOT! It was nice seeing you the shop and progress your making. I can’t even wait to see where this road goes bro! That’s for the help with the bent valve diagnosis on my truck. I’ll keep you posted once I get her running. We need a merch store, bro, so we can help support your next journey!
Heck ya. I love road trips! I did a trip from SoCal to Longview TX and back last year in April with the ol 6.0 towing light. No issues 😉 the I40 Is so bad. Fun trip though!
Josh , thought i was the only one that used the " Red headed step child" holy shit ! made me laugh! everyone i say it to look at me like i talk chinese!. So glad your back with your family & safe! I feel like i bought a part of history with you . buying those fuel rims & tires from you ! can't wait to see how the future makes you king of diesel madness!
I lived in Arkansas before and it's nice state but I see more people with missing car body parts like bumper, fenders or hell even no hood do yea. I never though a 6.0 could travel really far but you showed me they can and thanks for the advice of how to tow especially far distance and now I have a good idea how to properly and safely travel while towing. keep it up bud 👍
Pretty consistent, I averaged 11 mpg loaded on my 5 trips from California to Missouri. 14.8 mpg on my 4 return trips empty. Anyone that has done that drive knows how windy it is in Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. That definitely killed the fuel mileage as well. My route from California was as listed: SR 299E / SR 89 / SR 44 / CA/NEVADA SR 395 / I80 E / SR 2 NEBRASKA/Iowa/Missouri / I29 to KC.
Welcome to California! Other than the awkward left lean of this state, we do have tons of rust free older diesel trucks here! I look forward to doing some business with you now that you are somewhat local.
Should do a dash swap from an 11-16 and swap cooled seats in too, that will give you the manual button on the shifter to control what gear you are in. More info on the dash and better seats lol
Big road trips like that it's all about easy does it lol get home all in one piece is worth way more than setting records lol. Own a 07 F350 that's Cummins swapped and LOVE that thing. Good luck on the new endeavor
The couple of guys standing by the door looked not very happy to say the least, Dave didn’t look up and the other guy if looks could kill. On a positive note, have a safe journey home and as a Senior I can say I am very happy that you are going home to your family, that’s where a real man belongs.😊
I’ve watched and learned a lot from your videos. Definitely helps me with my engine builds as this is an expensive hobby and the last thing you want is a failure. I gotta ask dude. What happened with power driven? and are thinking about going back?
I'm stupid behind on this one. Work has been crazy. I love window tint. My personal vehicle has 2.5 in the back, 30 on each front door side, and a stupid aggressive brow. With that said I roll windows down to back up in the dark. I have no clue how people safely drive at night with the front windshield tinted. I love tint just don't see hoe you drive though it.
I drive slow as Fu#k these days. Ill do 55 in a 75 hauling 28k lbs in my 2006 cummins. Best mpgs I've ever seen hauling heavy loads. When I was young and dumb I would crank it 75-80 mph and lets just say I was lucky many times.
Please get us UCC footage. Your really good at annoying the competitors with the camera 😂 almost better than going myself 😂. I wont be there this year. Please.
Did you weigh this setup? Curious on gross. When I had my '05 Lariat, towed my 5er from WI to Orlando Disney and really wished I had a lockup switch. The cruise on those trucks is terrible. It slows down 3 mph, then hammers on it forcing an unlock and downshift, and stays in it until 3 mph over the setting. Same hills I could pull without an unlock or downshift and not lose any speed. And EGTs stayed cooler! Yes I had gauges, no I didn't burn it down 😂 I'm going back through this 6.0 vids to see the setup, I thought you had giant injectors but I'll look. Family=Good. They need you
Hi Josh, been watching your videos since the 6.0's content. I have a puzzler with my 2006 F250 6.0 298k miles that went in to a local reputable shop for trans rebuild due to 3-5 slipping. After 46 miles following the rebuild, the trans have reverse but when in D 321 the trans engages but won't drive forward. In D321 engages and loads up but will not drive as if it's binding up. The trans shop took it back apart to no luck. They then replaced with a complete sonnax solenoid body and still acts the same. Ordered a used exact same model PCM/TCM, and still acting the same. The trans is now back apart at the same shop for 2 months now. It did not do this before the rebuild. Stock tune btw. Any thoughts you might have?
Indiana is the worst on my list for sure! New Mexico is right behind. That bridge between Memphis and West Memphis has been horrible for years. Not gonna lie, I miss the road. Pretty exciting to watch your move man. Can't wait to watch the next chapter!
