Whoa! That was a brutal one! Accidentally leaving those black plastic temporary plugs in the intake you will never forget. 😩 Considering the owner bought a non-running truck at auction, he got very lucky. Bad oil cooler, bad fuel pump, bad fuel tank, bad fan clutch, bad coolant, bad oil and oil filter, yet a sound engine. That is a miracle! You brought this ugly truck back from the dead. Congratulations. You are a pro with 6.0’s.

Always my favorite type of customer, complain about everything that NEEDS to be done with the truck to get it running. If you cant afford a truck of this type that requires upkeep, then why even put your hat in the ring?

Almost bought an 05 last week with a blown head gasket, 170k miles left for dead in a yard for the past 2 years. The inside of the truck looked just like this one with parts everywhere. After watching this video I’m glad I didn’t mess with it.

My son bought himself a 2006 6.0 that was mostly well cared for. I’ve been using your tutorials for tech reference while we make it more reliable for him. He’s just started a welding career and is on the road a lot. It’s a constant battle reminding him that his truck is another tool for him to make his living with and not a play toy. Of course he’s 20 and wants a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and all the power tunes. I’m happy that he’s so far met me in the middle since I provide the shop space and equipment. Anyways, I figure I can at least help him get the best balance between power and reliability. Right now he’s towing a small bumper pull rv with his job box in the bed. At some point I’m sure he’s gonna want a fifth wheel toy hauler. I have a feeling most of your subscribers are also fairly descent 6.0 shade tree mechs. Reaching out for any and all advice for achieving that power/reliability balance. So far the echo golf romeo cooler has been welded, cooling system thoroughly flushed and filled with cat ec-1 elc, coolant bypass filter, replaced plastic cold side pipe, replaced leaky icp, replaced ipr screen, fpr blue spring kit, Motorcraft 10w-30, all filters (oil, fuel, trans) replaced with Motorcraft filters, and removed all exhaust restrictions. The next job will be replacing the hpop stc fitting with the upgrade and resealing the well. I think this is where the oil seepage is coming from. I know this is excessive for a comment, just seems like most of the forums are full of smart asses with nothing meaningful to offer. Thanks!
