- Dave Grohl plays drums on the Killing joke self-titled album from 2003...
I was lucky enough to be there with my friend Jesse Warn shooting the man himself.
Shot/Edited by Andrew Morton
TRIPLE DOUBLE!!!
What an unbelievably awesome drummer! The guy just blends in with anything. Who would have ever known he would have been playing for KJ after Nirvana?
that album is arguably the best thing grohl or killing joke have ever done...maybe ever will do. it's pretty much untouchable. he should play drums with them for every album.
I wholeheartedly agree with the Dave Grohl part. I do like many KJ albums... but I feel like this was Dave's turn to put on the Ginger Baker hat and really PLAY the drums. He should quit all other projects and drum for KJ permanent. His talents are put to best use there.
@@dickeymckay8289 I disagree. Grohl is a hell of a drummer, and the 2003 KJ album, along with his Nirvana work clearly shows that. But he's also a wicked frontman, and a wicked guitarist. He belongs in the Foo Fighters and nobody in their sane right would turn down an opportunity to front a band as big as they are.
Paul Ferguson (KJ’s drummer) is a fantastic drummer with a style that many have tried to emulate.
This is probably one of the best albums I have ever owned. It's just incredibly heavy and catchy. The Death and Resurrection show just tears you apart and then it only gets better from there. Love it!
there was bad blood, but apparently grohl reached out to them and they became pals apparently.
jaz coleman and daVE grohl working together..awesome now i have to have this album i didnt know it was there
Kinda cool he would play drums for a band that tried to sue him.....We should all be so forgiving.
Please elaborate.
@@seekatorun i think he is referring to the fact killing joke’s eighties and come as you have some similarities, I think they settled out of of court
just so you know KJ got it from the damned 'life goes on' check it out
Is there more footage of that? And John Dolmayan’s playing/“takes” by any chance?
Dude in this vid Dave has the face of current Dave and the body of young Dave
Dave Grohl, Killing Joke. Nothing but WIN!
Asteroid (Killing Joke). Dope song, check it.
Death & Resurrection Show isn't half bad, nor is Seeing Red which truly is a gem...
I love the PsychologyToday Tshirt :D
Jaz and Dave in the same room, working together nonetheless. How has the planet not exploded
@TripleDouble Remember the song Metallixa covered on 'Garage Days Revisited'-can't remember if it was 'Green Hell'-'or 'the Small Hours'
I know its been awhile for a response but the Killing Joke track Metallica covered was "The Wait".
@sonoiomattia LISTEN TO RHYTHM OF THE HEAT PETER GABRIEL PARTICULARLY THE END
There used to be a video up on UA-cam of this same recording session and Jaz is being very sarcastic and derogatory towards Dave Grohl. That video has been taken down. Hmmm, strange that...
the crooked vultures now though man!!
Eighties
killing joke rules!!!!!!!
killing joke kick ass
weird that they would collab because killing joke tried to sue nirvana over "come as you are" because they said it sounded like their song "eighties"
Kurt actually copped to ripping off the riff from Eighties for Come As You Are.
glad they cut it before Jaz started talking bollocks!
it seems that the biggest bands all have hot groupies in their recording studios
@1vonrichtofen we all know that ... he meant dope = awesome/great ... jeez
@jackkoffin1 then you want to listen to this album. it will change your mind.
just to say sorry, love him
i'm a ball of fire...
What kind of drum kit does Dave play in the studio?
I love Grohl but hate that he undercut John Dolmayan to get all the songs on this album. When I listen to it I can hear why John would have been a better fit.
what song is it their going over in this video?
Asteroid ....
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 Thanks!
@MishuTaste lol come as you are right?
@MishuTaste lol.. i hate Nirvana.
Who's the chick in the back? Come on, casual mysoginy aside, we're all thinking it....
Whoa. Angry fellow arent you?
@witchsphere -I own this KJ album, and it's really not my favorite KJ album. But my point was that DG's drumming doesn't really stand out in any way that makes me say to myself, this is very distinctive and impressive. Same goes for the drums on "Songs For the Deaf" by QOTSA (which is an album I like very much.) As for Grohl... well, I never liked the Foo Fighters, and Nirvana was pretty much all about Cobain. So... apparently I'm missing something, since everyone seems to admire his work.
I am probably the only person in the world who doesn't think Grohl is anything special. Everyone is always on his nuts about how great a drummer he is, but I've never heard anything in his drumming that was distinctive or interesting enough to make me take note.
