The fact he likes NoMeansNo so much makes me like him more. Wonder if he likes their alternate hockey punk band The Hanson Brothers. I dig the Candy Snatchers. First heard of them on Junk Records
I just looked up some of the bands he touted, and holy shit, I love it. Boredoms are amazing. No Pigs I'd heard of before, oddly enough. But I like them too. Also, Dave Grohl is amazing. I love that he fanboys out about music so much, when he's one of best rockstars of all time.
pig bodine But if you tell said guy also has a back tattoo of a hand holding a pile of eyeballs with the caption "Open Up & Bleed", it would totally make sense to me.
literally my earliest memory as a child was watching him perform at foo fighters show in like 2006 in this little square tv my parents had in their room
First record you can see when he takes the pile out the bag is The Freeze 'Guilty Face' ep. A total classic. Check out the track 'Violent Arrest'. Grohl knows his stuff.
My dream is Nevermind produced like In Utero. In fact, I think that was Kurt’s vision. Nevermind had the songs, In Utero had the sound. Just my opinion.
wow!!! haha... guess what? at 4:15 i'm the guy with the long hair and godflesh shirt right next to Wino! that pic was taken back in '94, when me and my friend Alain (the dude below Greg) brought the Obsessed down to Mexico to play a couple of historic gigs that almost nobody attended! that was taken at my parents' house... wtf?! so where have all the good times gone?!!!
I remember Dope, Guns, and F**king In the Streets. It had a lot of great bands on it. Jesus Lizard, Mudhoney, Helmet, U-men it’s a great compilation. Great choice by Dave Grohl.
NoMeansNo are still kicking the ass of peoples around the globe. How wonderful to hear that their music bubbled up over the years into influential ears. If you've not heard of them you will NOT be disappointed. Good for you, Grohl.
Interestingly enough listen close -- when he mentions that No Pigs sound like Black Flag, they start playing Black Flag's Slip It In ... the song that Dave 'borrowed' from when writing the intro for Song for the Deaf (that long drum intro). Coincidence? Probably.
"That first beer always tastes tha best" hah so damn true, dont know why, it just does. Then you get to a point where you dont even taste it anymore lol thats when you need to waych yoself,:)
I always wonder how this words? Do they just get gift cards and then have to do this vid in return or what? Cause sometimes I get that expression and then on the other hand that they just "ask" the artist to buy some stuff to show in this video. Either way I wanna live in the US and do a whats in my bag too!
+Robin Dreier It can work out a few different ways, but what we aim for is having an artist come shopping so we can tag along for what they were already shopping for. Sometimes artists take it as an opportunity to get nostalgic for their roots or to recommend some specific records to their fans. At the end we do gift them a little store credit to cover some of what they are grabbing as a "thank you" for participating in the show.
Haha classic story about that Gee guy stepping on a dog and beating up a homeless man Dave. Does he also push the elderly over and make children cry? What a great guy!
I think the thing you're not looking at is that the guy was all ready to kick Gey's ass for something that was probably done on accident just trying to show off and then Gey being the smaller guy took him down, I would think that was pretty funny too. not happy the dog got hurt, but i'm sure it's not the first time he's been stepped on lol
Dave Grohl. One of the coolest, friendliest, down to Earth guys in rock.
he actually pulls kittens apart with his bare hands & eats their hearts
Cathal Looby I love that he's always excited about turning people on to new music. He's a true music fan.
Jesus christ, your post was edited and it's still a grammatical mess?
ROCK N ROLL
I want to pick his brain and ask him about new music he has listened to in the past two years
This is 10 years old and was recommended to me
Same, just now and
he is talking about the holidays lol
And you're complaining?
Same here and
only to find it's one of the best of this series

I could just listen to Dave talk forever. He tells so many cool stories and his voice is so relaxing :)
ok were you paid to say this??????????????
Ahh maybe if you asked he would put you to bed and kiss you goodnight sweet pea.
I just gained so much more respect for Dave after watching this, so many old punk bands I forgot about
You sound like a clown
Dave is such a great storyteller
no he is not.
check out his book it sick!
@@superfuzzbigmuff594 definitely will, still haven’t read it
Dave, will love and honour you and the Foo Fighters forever ... with Taylor in my heart - 45, still feeling young with your music.
Love that he gives credit to Nomeanso, truly one of the most underrated punk bands ever.
Check out Dead Bob. Brother John has a new project. I caught their first gig a few months ago. Epic show.
I love how we're living in a time where 8 years ago looks just like yesterday.
Honestly that kinda scares me
No sht, even weezer’s 1996 ‘El Scorcho’ mv looks like its made in present day.
ya you look at grohl now and he is pretty old, like really old.
it kinda ruins the magic of time imo

I wish they'd played "Ass, Gas, or Crack."
take a shot everytime he says "gee"
"Gee?" As in 'gee whiz?' ;)
Given Nirvana's history, taking a shot could be dangerous.

bro that is soo fucked up xD
Kurt would've totally laughed at that.
Pathetically Funny
Dave Grohl is a genuinely nice guy (on camera at least).
Even off without cameras. I know for sure.
I worked a ski lodge and he was probably the nicest customer and very humble about his fame. He is a REAL cool cat
From what I know he's equally cool off camera as well.
He could be pulling an Ellen!
@John M He was an HIV/AIDS denier for a period of time if that helps...?
I literally could talk to Dave forever about his experiences, music, opinions about xyz, etc.
I ❤ him.
Dave Grohl seems like the nicest guy on the planet
You do Not want to meet Decaffeinated Dave!!!... he punches crying babies on planes, i've seen him do it... more than once unfortunately...

Dude thank you Grohl , this video introduced me to my now favorite band : Boredoms
Dave lowkey played in every band he mentioned
dude, dave likes punk rock. that is awesome
Holy shit Dave knows NoMeansNo! I live in Victoria and wish I was able to catch them when they played!
One of their members (the drummer) works here in Powell River at the local coffee shop

@TheWoW12424 Foo Fighters - "I'll Stick Around"
I'm not a fan of Dave Grohl's music but I think he would be the coolest guy to hang out with.
He is.
me too, will never own a FF cd but would like a convo with him
SAME
The Foo Fighters are my favorite band, but their music definitely isn’t for everyone.
I don’t care for Foo Fighters, or even Nirvana really, but Grohls work in Queens of the Stone Age is amazing
Thanks Dave, now I have a big list of bands to look up. XD
Dope, Guns and Fucking in the Streets have some of the best Dwarves singles 👍🏼
Fuckin followers
And Gee to avoid.
He still looks the same 10 years later
No sht since 1997.

I'm also from VA, a little younger than Dave. I do recognize the bands M-80s and Candy Snatchers, but just remember the names, not any songs.
He's such great story teller
When it cuts to Gee, "dat first beer tastes always de best man" I fuckin DIED!
I wanted to also say that I think Dave should work at Amoeba LOL I think he would enjoy that!!
Definitely!!!!
Amoeba Haha I knew you would agree!!
as long as he makes a homage to the real Nirvana aka Melvins
I believe that the last job Dave quit was at Tower Records in Seattle.

Very White Light/White Heat like
all the ones with Kurt Cobain yes.
Foo fighters?
Punk lives forever.
Sage punk is dead amd only listened to by those that haven’t grown up and should have moved onto metal
One of my favorite drummers ever. The only thing I love more than his drumming, is the dog impression he does during that story he tells.
I live in Virginia, near-ish to DC. Apparently, Dave's mom works in my city.
And I also want the same vinyl he bought classics to be sure scream, teriyaki asthma, pudet sound and gees record ❤
I just watch this video, he described music in his bag like a teenage beauty vloger describing beauty product in their bag, so cute
actually he's one of those guys who's not a poser at all.. he's just himself which is so great
The anecdote he inserted here feels like I'm listening to Skeeter part II. All it needs is some monster riffage on top of his narration.
wow!!! haha... guess what? at 4:15 i'm the guy with the long hair and godflesh shirt right next to Wino! that pic was taken back in '94, when me and my friend Alain (the dude below Greg) brought the Obsessed down to Mexico to play a couple of historic gigs that almost nobody attended! that was taken at my parents' house... wtf?! so where have all the good times gone?!!!
Dave Grohl has always these great stories to talk about. I like him telling stories like his other New York Time interview also here on youtube.
With out a doubt, one of my favorite drummers of all time.
Almost 11 years later and he looks exactly the same
Dave, Candy Snatchers are/were from Virginia Beach and The M80s were from Manasses, Va.
Not the biggest fan of Foo Fighters but I do really love Nirvana. I love how Nirvana's albums sound nothing alike.
nomeansno is possibly the best band in the whole entire universe, there is no room for discussion on this.
Dead Bob joins the discussion.
I was like, they did Krist, they did Dave, maybe they did Kurt- Never mind.

Dave Grohl needs to do a spoken word like Rollins. Every interview he has hilarious stories about crazy shit and weirdos and punk rock shit.
you should watch the foo fighters documentary, lots of good storeis

The difference between this and J Mascis's interview with Amoeba is hilarious
@TedParsons Ted you're the man. The "Prove You Wrong" album changed the way I drum. Thanks for doing what you do!

Killer choice to use Foos first album for the background music. Best FF album by far.
Dave Grohl's slowly turning into George Lucas.
I can almost guarantee that he will be one of these 60 year old men that still dye their hair and beard black and be all creepy looking.

Gotta love Dave man! His stories about Guy crack me the fuck up
how can you not love this guy. absolute rock legend. go dave.
