Would be super helpful to see how to bind off this stitch, and also how to increase and decrease it. Hard to make anything without that info. Thanks for the concept though.
This was clear to understand and easy to follow, though I do agree with the others about needing to show how to change colors and casting off for this stitch.
Thank you. That was very helpful. I am teaching a basic knitting class and I wanted an alternative to teaching the purl stitch too early to my students who have only learned the knit stitch.
thankyou so much!!! i followed another tutorial but it turned out to be purls on both sides instead of knits and then you mentioned bringing the yarn to the front when you slip and it worked!!!
very good, thank you! Other vids I have viewed start the stitch with the knit then the purl slip. Does that make a difference for the edge? I am thinking not since you are still slipping what you knitted in the last row and knitting what you slipped. But I was not sure.
Is there a way to incorporate double stockinette stitch in socks knitting in the round? It's similar to the slip knit and purl stitches for the heel flap. Thank you for your insight.
Hello, and thank you for your excellent video! I am just ripping out a double knitted scarf for which I had followed another video, which recommends slipping the very first stitch of each rue through the back loop - before starting the alternating slip stitch purlwise/knit that you explained, for the rest of each row. That first stitch of each row totally messed up my work, creating a loose thread running down the sides of the scarf. I can’t understand why that was recommended... 😔 I would really love to hear how to change colours, increase and decrease, and bind off. That would be wonderful if you could explain it! Thank you so much! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
i've been working on a scarf with thin stripes in this stitch and haven't had any problems but now i've notive that the edge where i switch yarn seems to be opening... I'm too far in to unwind it all so i'll probably sew the edge together at the end but i wonder if it's the way i'm tucking in the leftover yarn strings? i just knot them and pull them into the pocket the double fabric makes, there's nothing unwinding but the edge is just open in sections and i can't figure out how it's happening
Does it matter which order you do them in, as long as you're consistent? I've seen another tutorial that says "knit 1, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front" where you did "slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, knit 1"
Hi! This stitch definitely uses more yarn that typical stockinette. I don't have exact numbers as to how much more it uses since everyone knits a little different, but I imagine it would be comparable to a swatch of fisherman's rib.
Please, please, please show a bind off for this! A youtube video by a grandma steered me wrong. (It said to just do a regular bind-off, but that puts all the stitches in a single row and ended up longer than the width of my scarf no matter how tightly I knit.)
I know what you're saying. The front and back are totally separate from each other because you're essentially knitting two scarves at the same time, using the same needle. As if you put an inner and an outer shower curtain on the same shower rod, using alternating curtain hooks at the top. Here's the thing though--my scarf does not pull apart or circle up into a tube at all. The "pocket" never opens. It could, I suppose, if I arranged it and ironed in a new crease or something. But it stays creased at the edges where I turned the knitting around. And it's sealed at the top and bottom anyway.
@@nissavanriper6117 i am making a very wide scarf and the fact that it is two separate fabrics connected only at the edges is definitely becoming a problem.

That stitch a gamechanger! Thank you for uploading
I love the explanation, love the stitch, love the video. Thanks.💚.

I finally understood how to do it. thanks a lot
Hi Heidi. You do move the yarn back to knit right? Bring to front to slip one purlwise, with yarn to back, knit one?
So easy to follow, thank you ❤

Can you told me why the outer right and left part of my double stockinette knit is so loose?
Gracias por el video tutorial. Muy claro y útil.
I like that stitch. Would it look good on bulky yarn Afghan?
How do you weave in the ends? :)
Beautiful stitch looks very simple to make. Thank you for such a great tutorial. Can this be done in a Tunisian style?
What kind of bindoff would be good to use with this Stitch?
A three needle bind-off works really well and matches the look of the cast on she used. I'm currently working on a scarf.
What is the brand of needles you are using

Thank for this video! Do you have an approximation of how much more yarn you need for this stitch, compared to a normal stocknette?

How do you do this in the round?
does it use more or less yarn than regular stockinette

thank you!! - good place to start for a "gage" of how much yarn will be needed
Love, love, love this!
Hai pls can make a vedio how to finish a knitting pattern

Is there a way to keep the sides connected? I would prefer there not be a pocket
There’s no pocket.
