"Why do I like this song so much"? Welcome to the 1970" You like these songs, yet can't figure out exactly why. It's because the songs were "crafted" by schooled and extremely skilled writers. Then they were arranged by classically trained and extremely talented arrangers. They were performed not by guys who had a computer come up with a beat, but by people who studied and worked hard at the "Craft" of music. It's in the color tones that weave in and out. It's the dynamics of starting sparsely and building, only to come back down again. In making you want that chorus again and teasing you til you get it. This was still the age of trained musicians. That's why you like this song. Long live them and the few today carrying on the tradition.

This song reminds me of a girl I had a mad crush on in high school. She was a pom pom girl and fashion model. Shortly after we graduated that summer she moved to New York and that fall she was on bill boards everywhere for Virginia Slims and Vogue Magazine.

I'm a Kiwi, and proud to say at one point they had one playing in the band, Farnham era I think. Anyhow, yeah man, my fave Ozzie band of all time. And they fucking cane by a great distance the Eagles man. Just so much more variety, and their harmonies just took their stuff to a whole new level seldom equalled. So yeah, be proud brother, one of the greatest bands and underrated of all time, a victory for Oceania!

It has a way to create a mysterious draw like a luring beauty of a woman you can not resist but also can not keep so as she leaves you weep and when she holds you, you sigh. My heart aches and warms during the sweeps and steeps thru this song. The Little River Band was very good at these electric emotions as they were in Lonesome Loser and Night Owl.

In the early 1980s I was stationed at a remote missile base in Sicily. The hotel owners daughter was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. She absolutely took my breath away. I was listening to this song on my Sony Walkman when she motioned to listen. She spoke very little English but melted on my shoulder whispering “love song”. Every day after work she came by to hear her favorite “love song”. I fell so deeply in love with her, but we never even kissed. I was abruptly moved to another base but think about her all the time. Thank you for letting me go back in time.

Little River Band! Great song from them! One of my favorites. There are two versions of "it's a long way there" when you do it do the original 1st because the live version cuts out the opening and ending but the live version has a different and also great guitar solo. I have both versions in my Library. I expect others will point to other songs like Reminiscing & Lonesome Loser. Both Fantastic.

So glad you listened to this great band, I guess they were just great song writers and musicians, keeping it fairly simple and to the point, good clean music can seep into the heart. Not bad since it is your first time hearing this.
This band had its work cut out for it in the day as the 70's were a very competitive time in music and film. Yet they made their way with some other great hits I think you will like if you give them a fair go. These guys are from my home town in Sth OZ , and a friend I played guitar with knew them, from his time in another band. Just as an aside I swear I can see Randy Meisner in 2 short clips singing - Take it to the Limit, he is from the Eagles and died recently. Maybe a tribute to him. Cheers Angela and thanks !!
