      Same here. The song perfectly encapsulates my feelings toward my college girlfriend that I felt would have made my perfect mate if not for my stupidity. Also, I'm from the same hometown as Paul Davis and remember him giving a free concert in our high school gym while I was in high school, though I don't know if he sang this song. I believe he wrote it later in his career.

    I was 17 years old when this song came out, and although I liked it a lot, it was just a song. Five years later, I experienced the exact lyrics after losing the love of my life to another man with only myself to blame. The song hit every emotion I felt, as if I had written it myself. Today, I am 62 years old and still get a lump in my throat when I hear it.

      Funny I had the same thing happen to me, the only difference I was in my twenties at the time, We both married others and raised our families only to both divorce years later. I then had a chance to rekindle the relationship but decided not to just figuring things would not to be. now we'll never know. Bittersweet.

    This song, " I go crazy" was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 40 weeks and peaked at #1. Everyone loves when an old lover looks in your eyes and they still go crazy! Paul was hot. He was only in his 20's here. The long blonde hair is sexy on him, and the facial hair, moustache and beard are gorgeously masculine. He was somewhat shy and stayed out of the limelight. Their are not that many videos of this man playing this song, either. He could play any of the instruments in his band, very talented that way. He didn't tour much. He had filled our radiowaves with romantic magic and we ate it up back then. I love a lot of different music, but this song is so beautiful, it can reignite an old flame. His other hit 'Cool Night" will also set lover's hearts on fire! Yes I am in love with a dead man. I think I can be forgiven. Thanks for reviewing one of the great masters of love songs!

    • @Wise-Lady-La-Aura
      @Wise-Lady-La-Aura 2 роки тому +1

      @@terry21651 - I had heard Paul Davis talk about how much he preferred fishing and just being at home doing things he enjoyed and being out in the woods having fun with his friends. According to one of his closest friends, musician and songwriter Paul Davis was more comfortable at home in Meridian than he was in the spotlight shone upon him as a result of his many hits, said Art Matthews, a past owner of a local radio station, who was friends with Davis for more than 33 years. "He didn't set out to be famous and he didn't relish traveling and touring," said Matthews. "He was very much a homebody. A nocturnal person who enjoyed people and his music. He was every bit as normal as everyone else whose talent happened to be associated with a high profile industry." I had never heard that he did not fly, but I will continue to look for the source of that. If you have that source, I would appreciate letting me know where that video clip is located. Thank you for your input. I know when he was shot in the stomach during a mugging, his health went downhill. It's so sad that they doctors could not save him when he had the heart attack that took his life. Thanks for your reply and the information on Paul Davis! His music and his legacy will live on! 💜💥🎼

    There was this wonderful time in the 70’s , they called the singer/songwriter. It was a brief moment where it didn’t matter if you were good looking or cool or marketable. If you could write a good song,you could sing it yourself. Jim Croce, Harry Chapin,Leon Russell,Carole King,Gordon Lightfoot… too many to name. But def worth checking some of them out

    This song reminds of my 1st husband, whom I lost twins at his hands. But it made me realize, you know you can love with everything you have, but life has to continue. I did and I have some who really likes and loves me. I hope evey one has that. Memories hurt but you get stronger with time. Your such a good soul, thank you.

    This was a great song by Paul Davis and it was his biggest hit. It ended up spending 40 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 which was a record at the time. I can remember living in a suburb of Dallas at the time, having moved there just three years earlier from the Chicago area. I would listen to Chicago's WLS at night because it would come in just as clearly as Dallas stations and this is one of the songs I remember hearing then. Great memories.
