The Hammer strikes again. Interesting point you make about the tone sounding underwater, but slotting into the sonic spectrum so well vs. the glassy guitar tone. I hadn't thought of it like that, but that's a bit of the magic of those old songs and was likely just as McVie intended. Well done playing yet again.
Wow, you guys nailed it. I am not familiar with that era of FWM so I went back and listened when you played Green Manalishi (sick riff) and it’s like identical. You’re right about how a “bad” bass tone or one thats less defined can really work well in the mix. Something a lot of modern producers may have forgotten? Anyway, well done.
As a UA-cam stalker of Dave for many years, I just KNEW this was going to be a great video! Dave has "done" Peter Green many times over the years and he nails it every time!
Peter Green played with an emotion which is hard to replicate. But we also have to consider that much of PG's Fleetwood Mac had three guitarists. So trying to get the sound is complicated. Good work guys.
I was there on more than one occasion to see and hear Peter & Co. I could close my eyes, listening to Dave and Cici and I was back there way back when. Or in other words, you guys delivered a singularly sensational session that was right on the money. Great tone and feel. The intrinsic essence of those superb songs.
oooooooh yeh looking forward to this one. Peter Green is my favourite guitarist of all time. Back in 2018 when I started playing, It was Dave here who introduced me to his music.
What a great musicianship! I loved the playing of both. I'm playing guitar for over 50 years with as few pedals as possible because I think every device in the signal path degrades the sound and dynamics. If you want to find your own sound, skip pedals and invest in a great amp and a nice guitar. It's not only the sounds that benefits but also the feel you get when playing.
04:58: When the bass kicks in - MAN. A. LIVE! What a tremendous sound. It really demonstrates what you were saying about the two sounds ‘filling in the gaps’ perfectly. Great job, team - lovely stuff.
You should do back to back with and without busting the bank videos for the same band so you can compare them. It will probably show how affordable gear has come really far the last decades
Well done guys! Another terrific video. My Katana amp setting for my P Green sound is to whack the mid control all the way up. Amp: Clean, Gain: 23, Bass: 48, Mid: 100, Treble 26. Reverb: Around 50.
Cici and Dave are great for Sound Like series as they have a great understanding of the source material, not just the gear but also the technique and the sound.
I have to say that Cici's tone was spot on (at least for Oh Well) for this one. I would have been tempted to try a bass with a P/J pickup configuration since John did switch between Jazz basses and P basses. The guitar tone was as close as you can get without that specific pickup set with that messed up wiring. Also Dave, thankyou for playing 'The Green Manalishi' on this one. It is one of those tunes that I have wanted to learn for years but whenever I have tried to look up how to play it I can only ever find tabs for the Judas Priest version which is totally different.
Great job! Tackling the near impossible just took you a few extra pounds. Always happy to see these two. Also just to note: they were getting all those sounds at under 100 db. Power scaling rules.
Nice one Cici and Dave. But could we please get some more context before you launch into the shopping part? Not just whose tones you are trying to recreate, but what you take to be their signature tone - and how that will inform what gear you're choosing. Would greatly improve this run of Sounds Like, thanks!
You are both incredibly talented! Thanks for continuing this series! I'd like to suggest a few bands like Spoon, CAKE, Blur, Jet for upcoming episodes.
Dave going over the budget felt warranted this time to be fair, Cici sounded great but I’m not sure if that 50 Watt is really giggable (I don’t like relying on monitors) and maybe something bigger would be a better option. I wouldn’t be upset turning up to a gig with that sound plus nice and easy to unload
Love these videos, Cici and Dave just amazing players! What a guitar sound! Begs the question, if a £200 Eastcoast can sound like that, why would you ever buy an Epiphone? Even a Gibson?
To me much of the cost of a guitar comes down to the feel and finish, as you say with regards to the sound there’s far smaller gains if at all in some cases.
Excellent episode! Regardless of the closeness of the tone (close for me), the sound was wonderful in its own right! Definitely one for the no limits 'Sounds Like' seeing as there is a Peter Green Les Paul available, hint, hint?
Although you are doing a pre Buckingham and Nicks era Fleetwood Mac (the most popular era). A Boss SD-1 and a Boss DD-3 is a must to re-create the Lindsey Buckingham sound.
Thank you Dave! Absolutely! Just because the pickup was "back-to-front" doesnt make it out of phase! You either turn the pickup upside down, which clearly wont work, or, as you said, take the pickup to pieces and filp the magnet! Maybe a video opportunity Dave? 🙂 A/B test of magnet normal and magnet flipped!
@@mikkolehtonen4226 Nope! They are magnets aligned north and south.... Only flipping on of the puckups to where its unplayable, could it be "out of phase". Just because the pickup was put in backwards makes no difference to the phase of the magnets.
I agree with with flipping the magnet and then using the middle position. If you don't flip the magnet, then the middle position is not out of phase. Maybe I phrased my first answer wrongly.
Really enjoyed attempting John McVie’s tone and playing style in this one, great player :)

I love Dave and Cici, thank you Andertons for bringing them back
when were they away then?
Cici and Dave, one of the best Sounds Like ever. I really love the fact that you were both plugged straight in. More of these please.
Dave’s Peter Green sound is so awesome.
As a UA-cam stalker of Dave for many years, I just KNEW this was going to be a great video! Dave has "done" Peter Green many times over the years and he nails it every time!
I like how Dave fails better than most people succeed
lol he is very humble but in reality is an extremely good player
@@StewartBrand85 a very good student. Doesn't pretend to know how something was done, he actually knows

One of my favorite episodes yet. I want to fail to play like Peter as well as Dave does.
oooooooh yeh looking forward to this one. Peter Green is my favourite guitarist of all time. Back in 2018 when I started playing, It was Dave here who introduced me to his music.
We need a part 2 with Rumours era FM.
Wow, that took me back (yes I'm that old). I saw them play live and 'Oh Well' was unbelievable. Love it!
Been waiting for this video since Dave joined the team.
Best Cici and Dave video yet! Superb!
I don't even care if Dave went over budget. The Fender Tone Master was the best option for this. Those amps are awesome.
Getting so close to Greeny on a £200 guitar, bravo Dave, take an almighty bow
I always look forward to these "Sound Like" videos, I'm a big fan of Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac and Oh Well sounded so good. RIP Christine McVie.
I love that Dave is doing these sounds like, used to see him all the time at my local guitar shop (Old Hat Guitars)
I mean come on..... Dave and cici nail this. Great players love it
dave was made for this
Dave can easily do Peter Green and Moore! (get it?)
Love Dave and Cici.

Very nice episode. About as close as you can get too. Hats off to Cici and Dave!

Great job, team - lovely stuff.
Can't think of anyone that can play Greeny better than Dave. Especially the whispery edge of break up to screamy Greeny, style blues.
I absolutely love when dave plays peter green or in the style of peter green. I could literally just sit and drift away for days and days
Awesome! this is the best one yet in the whole series, and the one I've been waiting for the longest. Amazing playing
Love seeing these pair jam both great at what they do. Dave is a beast on that guitar he just manages to get a tone out of anything.

Dave and Cici, YES!!! All kinds of YES!!!!!
Humour and gear education. Love it..
Dave, just rocked that LP and Tonemaster..
If you can pull of Greenie’s tone on a budget, your the man!
Thank you Cici & Dave you both knocked it out of the Park again , that track always gives me Goose Bumps.
Oh Well
Once again these two are killing it, absolutely amazing tone from affordable gear!!!
Damn i love videos with Dave and Cici!
Got to be my favourite sounds like video to date, simple but effective

The Green Manalishi always makes me feel like it was recorded in a seethingly hot and airless studio one summer night.
I'm sure I read somewhere, that it was recorded in a car park, to get the big echoes on the voices
@@waynebridger4998 very interesting, I think I might go looking for more info, thank you 😉
Canned heat and tension. Like a feverish nightmare you can't wake up from. IN A GOOD WAY.
Really enjoyed this. On a different tack I'd love to see them try Motorhead, with or without bursting!
I think this is the best I’ve ever heard Dave play. Super authentic! Thanks guys ❤
Always lots of fun with these two

Cici's hair reminds me of James Tyler Jimburst guitar I saw in a shop few months ago 😊 Totally cool vibe!
A really good sound like. I thought they got the bass and guitar sounds spot on how I remembered it! That fender amp sounds excellent.
That was excellent guys.
I think you guys did a stellar job - well done!
Think you nailed it, love early Fleetwood Mac , such a simple set up but what a great sound.well done you two 👏👏
One of your best episodes sound and playing wise.
Great video and super playing. Thanks!
John is one of the best bassists ever and so underrated
Definitely!
Great video again from these two, more Dave and Cici please Andertons
Ah yes, I met Dave and Cici in the Andertons car park the day they were about to record this 🙂
Great vid ....great playing...keep them coming you two..🎵 🎸🎸🎵 please 😂!!😂

My Thursday all of the sudden sucks a little less thank you!
Another great show you two knocked that out of the park, keep on Keeping on. PEACE and LOVE to EVERYONE.
I’d be curious to see them do this but with mid- to late-70s Fleetwood Mac

The 20.000 one or the 50.000 one?
need to look into Peter Greene now
Pretty darn good version of early Fleetwood. Back to the English Rose days 😄
Ah, proper Fleetwood Mac.
Dave is good enough to to get close to Greeny
Great episode guys always a pleasure seeing u 2 experiment 😀 👋🍺🎛🎸🎶
Am I the only one who watched the entire outro waiting for something to happen? 😂
Amazing
I coukd see a show called something like tone lab and dave wearing a lab coat. Guy is pretty knowledgeable
Just giving myself a cheeky preview of this video. Looked up for a second to see a Peter Green Chilled HGV go past. Interactive motorway!

I would love to see a Sounds Like Lynyrd Skynyrd or Allman Brothers. That southern rock stuff. You guys havent dont that yet!
"Southern Rock" trouble is you don't get many bands from Cornwall, Devon, Hampshire etc...
That was far from a failure, brilliant
