One I'd love to see is the smiths without busting the bank, some jangle goodness from Dave and some groovy jams from Cici (RIP Andy Rourke) Keep killing it folks! 😊😊😊
The Police music sounds great, but I think people didn't realize how tough it is to get that tone until you try to get it yourself. Dave and Cici did a great job with the budget restriction.
Just a head's up, you mixed up Walking on the Moon and So Lonely for the title cards, that said you got pretty darn close tonewise Now I wanna see a sound like Animals as Leaders
Dave has an uncanny ability to take gear that wouldn't really have been on my radar and just getting the most immaculate tones out of them. It's definitely made me re-evaluate the way I think about gear and what can be achieved with the right mentality. Great stuff 👍
High time I said I really enjoy these challenges by Dave and Cici. Great chemistry and genuinely funny exchanges. Dave covers an amazing range of playing styles, and I've learned how to listen to bass more precisely from Cici. Always worth the view.
Great job within the limitations. I'd like to see Cici and Dave have another go at this with an unlimited budget, particularly with Cici using a fretless.
I spent years in a Police Cover Band, and spent "hours & hours" Dissecting the Tones, Effects and Chords of Mr. Andy Summers = incredible guitar player
It sounded great Cici! Thank you, by the way. We've been working on a few Police covers and this video has helped me get so much closer to Sting's tone (don't have a fretless either)!
Great Job Cici + Dave!! Back in 1981 I was 14 years and the Police came to my Hometown Ruesselsheim/Germany. I just hat discovered Music and was there. The Police just had just released their recording "Ghost in the Machine". I remember standing just a few meters away from the stage and they played a stellar concert. That was the most amazing kickoff for my musical journey that I could think of. Thanks for reminding me of that very impressive experience 👍
Thank you for this Dave and CiCi ❤ I was at least one of the people who asked for this in the last year, but I had no idea that it would be such a challenge. Such a pleasure to see that you were so up to it 😊 Fantastic sounds 🎸🎼🥰
Cici, you're not loud enough in my ears. I can barely hear you when Dave is playing. Nonetheless well done! Now, next about Neil Young with Crazy Horse??? PLEASE!!!
Well done ... again ... nailed it Just wondering: me did expect the JC-22 to enter the stage ... not avail or U no likey That Bass is just lovable ... as is the Mistress of 4 stings 🤗 Anyway ... cudos
Absolutely LOVE the videos with Cici and Dave, they’re a fantastic duo. This must have been a tough one but I thought the results were excellent. Seriously good job guys 😎
I basically went with the Squier 50's precision and the Ampeg Mirco-VR w/ 210AV for a budget "Sting bass rig" back during the pandemic lockdown. Absolutely fantastic value and I still use it years later.
Absolutely loved this . Big fan of The Police and Dave sold me on these pedals 😊 eyes closed I couldn't have told you this was a budget video at all . The excellent playing helped too 😁
Sting isn't saving the planet buy owning a lot of bass guitars. You have to cut the trees down to make a bass. Love you two, watching you both teasing each other makes me smile. Added bonus, we learn a lot about how to dial a tone in. Thanks guys....
I know I'm not the only one who noticed, but the song titles were backwards 😂 So Lonely was first then Walking on the Moon 🤭 Overall great job for both at achieving the tones. I'll bee seeing Sting live in Hollywood this October so I'll be checking out all his gear 😎
This would have been a perfect April fools day joke where you just sat for 15 minutes saying stuff like "you have the right to remain silent" and "get down on the ground!" or "hands in the air where I can see them" Anyways, I really enjoy this series 👍
Honestly these guys make it clear that the rest of us make lots of excuses with the gear. A Squire or Classic Vibe is all you need, if you can play it well enough. Same goes for the amps and pedals. These `Without Busting the Bank' episodes sound about as good in most cases as doing it with an unlimited budget. I certainly would be happy with the tones they get with the most affordable gear in the store, but then they get the most out of it through their touch, style, and talent, as well as really knowing how to USE their gear.
The Police one of the best trio's of all time and Andy Summers is a phenomenal guitar player and doesn't get the credit he often deserves by being brilliantly creative and having some of the most underrated tones ever. He is like a rocketship being told to be a hatchback during his time with the police and he does it brilliantly and often one of the reasons his great guitar parts and technique is overshadowed by Sting and Copeland. I'd argue personally that his tone on the Ghosts in the Machine and Syncronicity albums is the standard for what a great clean chorus/flanger tone should be.
Nailed the guitar sound, but, as mentioned, I imagine flats on that bass would have been a wise move. I use them on my Greco Pbass with a Rumble 200W combo (15" speaker) a set up which really holds down the bottom end in my classic rock band. Hope the flood is becoming a more distant memory btw Cici.
Re: amps, ive got a Roland JC 22 that does a pretty decent job of getting the sound on Message in a Bottle with its built in chorus IMO. It was like $550 so a little bit higher than their budget here, but ive been enjoying it greatly, if anyone was in the market for something nice and clean you can also shove pedals at. Some folks think Andy used a JC120 but apparently thats absolutely not true, however, that stereo chorus they Jazz Chorus amps have does a decent job playing his stuff :)
Very authentic guitar tones from Dave BUT I couldn't even hear Cici's bass in the mix and even when she played on her own I had to concentrate. This hasn't happened for the last few sessions, but it did happen on some of the earlier ones you did, and I think it might be a product of YT compression taking some of the low end away. In short - please turn yourself up Cici! I think it was particularly noticeable on this session because of the predominantly low end bass tone Cici was trying to achieve. I also think that Dave may at times be one of those guitar players you simply HAVE to battle with to get heard in the mix - not because he's a prima donna, but just because he's like an excited schoolboy who loves to perform! (Love you Dave!) Thanks guys as ever, and the Police is an epic band om y youth so for me it was a great choice!
Great vid...dodgy chord in WOTM, have seen Andy Summers play the verse using D shape chords up the neck 5th fret 10 and 12th...he does like his moveable shapes. Electric Mistress is Summers in a box
Play it like you own it, it will sound fine. Flat wounds pairs with fretless to reduce neck wear, that would happen with round wound strings. Try very light fingering directly over the fret to muffle the action of fretting. Frets don`t really belong on bass but Fender was going for Precision. I prefer the fudge factor of fretless, as on stand up bass. I also believe bass should be played from a standing position as this gives the kundalini a chance to engage. Big fat bottom requires clean power to keep from distorting the lowest reach of response. I think you both did well trying to unlock the historic sound you were looking for.
One I'd love to see is the smiths without busting the bank, some jangle goodness from Dave and some groovy jams from Cici (RIP Andy Rourke)
Keep killing it folks! 😊😊😊
Yeah this would be great, and please erase the first attemp of Rabea and Matt ...😉
Obviously “So Lonely” should be “Walking On The Moon” here but otherwise a killer episode!
I heard that too
Glad I’m not the only one who caught that
The Police music sounds great, but I think people didn't realize how tough it is to get that tone until you try to get it yourself. Dave and Cici did a great job with the budget restriction.
These two again?!?!? More, please!
legit these two are so entertaining
and its so fun to watch them come up with their plan then jam
Just a head's up, you mixed up Walking on the Moon and So Lonely for the title cards, that said you got pretty darn close tonewise
Now I wanna see a sound like Animals as Leaders
maybe Lonely on the moon...
@@toledo2983 I like that
Dave has an uncanny ability to take gear that wouldn't really have been on my radar and just getting the most immaculate tones out of them. It's definitely made me re-evaluate the way I think about gear and what can be achieved with the right mentality. Great stuff 👍
Me too! Every time 😂
This series is great. Dave and Cici seem to have a great rapport and sense of humour. More please.
I purchase this squier bass a year ago, just changed the muddy pickup; playability of the bass is wonderful , no sharp fret edges I love it !
Love these two, absolute natural presenters. Oh, and bloody good musicians too! Cheers, Andertons.
love these two :-) great show guys!
High time I said I really enjoy these challenges by Dave and Cici. Great chemistry and genuinely funny exchanges. Dave covers an amazing range of playing styles, and I've learned how to listen to bass more precisely from Cici. Always worth the view.
Hell yeah, I’ve been waiting for an episode on The Police for a long time so I’m definitely happy for this one. Killed it as always, guys
Cici and Dave have really grown into these Sound Like’s now.
They started out a little weird and awkward in the early ones but are now confidently weird and awkward.
This was one of my favorite Sound Like
Great job within the limitations. I'd like to see Cici and Dave have another go at this with an unlimited budget, particularly with Cici using a fretless.
No lie, my nephew and I were singing along to every song you guys played. :) love this! You guys really nailed the Police tone !
Awesome! Thank you so much :)
Ive had a real bad day but at the end You two guys Cici and Dave made me forget about that and cheered me up no end , cheers guys .
I'ma work on some Andy Summers chords tonight. Cheers guys. Took me back.
I spent years in a Police Cover Band, and spent "hours & hours" Dissecting the Tones, Effects and Chords of Mr. Andy Summers = incredible guitar player
Did you use the old electric mistress?
This one was definitely challenging 🤣 But interesting to attempt!
Well, fwiw, imho ydig! 👍
You two are so wonderful in these videos. I love the recreations and the fun you share with us.
It sounded great Cici! Thank you, by the way. We've been working on a few Police covers and this video has helped me get so much closer to Sting's tone (don't have a fretless either)!
Another excellent video, wrong song titles aside. Always super impressed how closely these 2 manage to emulate sounds of these classic bands.
Great Job Cici + Dave!!

Thanks for reminding me of that very impressive experience 👍
What happened this was the best series and they are the best presenters bring it back
I see a Dave and I see a Cici and I hit like.
17:00 That's Walking on the Moon.
Another cracking episode 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for this Dave and CiCi ❤
I was at least one of the people who asked for this in the last year, but I had no idea that it would be such a challenge.
PLEASE!!!
I thought the same , great two players btw,👍
Well done ... again ... nailed it
Just wondering: me did expect the JC-22 to enter the stage ... not avail or U no likey
That Bass is just lovable ... as is the Mistress of 4 stings 🤗
Anyway ... cudos
Well done guys - such a great team - digging out my POLICE LIVE CD for tomorrow mornings morning drive. - Ta Ta 4 Now. 🙃👍🍦
I was really hoping Pete would jump in and start singing Roxanne in the Eddie Murphy from 48 hrs style.
Love the groin thrusting. And even the show itself. You’re fab, the pair of yez.
I love Dave and Cici in these sound like videos! Well done Andertons
Is that...Flashheart, from Blackadder? Woof woof!
Just Great! Enjoyed the hell out of this one, made me want one of each. Well done Dave & Cici!
👏👏 Dave and Cici another thoroughly entertaining sesh 👍👍
Absolutely LOVE the videos with Cici and Dave, they’re a fantastic duo. This must have been a tough one but I thought the results were excellent. Seriously good job guys 😎
She's got a good feel on the Bass.
that bass sounds AWESOME !
Oh please please please please SOUND LIKE THE CURE!!
I basically went with the Squier 50's precision and the Ampeg Mirco-VR w/ 210AV for a budget "Sting bass rig" back during the pandemic lockdown. Absolutely fantastic value and I still use it years later.
FANTASTIC!
Absolutely loved this . Big fan of The Police and Dave sold me on these pedals 😊 eyes closed I couldn't have told you this was a budget video at all . The excellent playing helped too 😁
...great effort ...bass came into its own in 'Message in a Bottle'
Dave is such a joy. So glad to see him around frequently these days.
You did great !! Greatings from Belgium whooop whooop it's the sound of the police.
Great fun this one - and the tones were great.
Might be my favorite episode of this series
Love Dave ,makes an awesome presenter 🎸
Why Yes, I'll watch another Cici and Dave video. Thank you Andertons!
"The Filth". That made me spit out a mouthful of tea
I have no interest in sounding like the Police but I always learn something about tone watching Cici & Dave in those videos.
Would love to see a rush episode!!!
Awesome, great playing! Andy Summers is so underrated. Would love to see you break to bank for this sound too!
I only subbed because of Dave and Cici :)
Great stuff. Particulary liked message at the end
I like these episodes!
The humor with these two 😂😂😂
Dave & CiCi seem to nail it every time. But am sure a lot of it is down to their innate talent.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss, this is what ive been wating for!!!!!!!!!
It's my first time watching Dave & Cici. Looking at Dave I expect "Sound like Jethro Tull with or without burstin the bank" sooner or later, 😉
Love the Police, love these two, nailed the tone. Really enjoyed this. I give it an add-9/10
‘The Filth’, I laughed out loud 😂 Brilliant, love these. Do a Police busting the bank!
Sting isn't saving the planet buy owning a lot of bass guitars. You have to cut the trees down to make a bass. Love you two, watching you both teasing each other makes me smile. Added bonus, we learn a lot about how to dial a tone in. Thanks guys....
Otoh basses are a carbon sink
Cant wait for the billy sheehan and paul gilbert, mr big episode 😉😉
Dude!!! That would be an AMAZING episode
I tried for years to play THAT chord with my tiny inflexible hands, gave up before serious injury was caused
thank you for being yourself
Lol, "So lonely on the moon" is my favourite The Police song! Ha ha ha.
Been waiting for this for absolutely yonks since the whole series started! And you two have only went and nailed those tones, period.
GG guys 😃
Yup, I'd say you got pretty damn close, great sounds-like as usual.
I know I'm not the only one who noticed, but the song titles were backwards 😂 So Lonely was first then Walking on the Moon 🤭
Overall great job for both at achieving the tones. I'll bee seeing Sting live in Hollywood this October so I'll be checking out all his gear 😎

Dave and Cici are two of my favorite's on the interweb! Can't wait to see more from them!
The guitar rig works really well.

19:35 Fully agree. I'd like to see the Squier 51 guitar available again.
Challenging without Steward Copeland's drums... What a band! So much fun watching you, can't wait for the next episode
This series is so good
The Police tone is such a defined collective effort, drums/bass/guitar/vocal. Tough to recreate without all the elements. Did a great job though.
Having both: the Affinity: chunkier neck and satin, the CV thinner neck and gloss. In the end I mostly pick the Affinity.
Great job as usual
The Police one of the best trio's of all time and Andy Summers is a phenomenal guitar player and doesn't get the credit he often deserves by being brilliantly creative and having some of the most underrated tones ever. Awesome.. 😊

that was excellent. nice one. was the bass amp under-powered? is it possible to buy a decent bass amp for that kind of money?
Excellent choice
Amazing playing!!!!,..😍❤🎸
I don't think Lee would have noticed if you asked that nice guitar tech in the shop to rip those frets off? Really good beating the bank sounds guys!
Thanks guys that was fun ! A new track in the offing : I'm so lonely, when l'm walking on the moon ! 😜
Great job 👏
Cici: booger-a. I'm dying! Lol
