      Did great man. When you watch the experience, Hendrix only had the vox at his feet. The fuzz face was behind him over his left shoulder. It was always on and Hendrix would control the volume with his volume knob. That's the Hendrix part that's hard to pull off with modern gear. It just doesn't clean up like the roger Mayer modded stuff.

    Rabea you're far too humble - which is a good thing - but give yourself credit for getting a great sound there. You got authentic sounds from most stages of the Experiences' career and played the tunes in an excellent Hendrix style, which is far from easy so thumbs up for this 1 from me.

      Yes and no, I see where you're coming from. but tone specifically can be replicated fairly easily. Keyword is Tone, not playstyle. Play style and personality are the things that are very very hard to replicate if even possible, especially with hendrix and his formulated but complex way of playing.
      Tone can easily be duplicated but it's the person that puts the feeling and style into it

      I love the music of Hey Joe and Hendrix's performance of it. But, the trouble with Hey Joe is it about a dude murdering his wife/girl friend for being unfaithful. While I'm not a revisionist at heart, this song really needs altered lyrics to perform it today as the story is describes appalling domestic violence especially as the Narrator encourages Joe to " Shoot her one more time again, baby". Who wants to sing those lyrics today? I certainly don't. A colleague suggested "Hey Joe , where you going with those flowers in your hand" etc.!!!!

    Loved to have been a teenager when Jimi was around....I've seen most of the old shows and interviews with jimi got all his records dvds etc....and I've noticed Jimi never ever used bad language....never ever heard him swear....which in itself is a breath of fresh air...like his music back in the day......and he could sing...his singing matched the music he made.....he'd love it now days what with all the effects....I'd think he'd be both a purest and an gear nerd....

    • @michaelthomas9991
      @michaelthomas9991 5 років тому +1

      Jason Stone - hello Jason. Just an observation from an old guy here. The fact that Jimi didn’t swear in public often was due to a few things:
      People were more respectful in that era.
      Jimi had a reputation for being sweet natured.
      Profanity onstage in the 60’s could possibly get ya arrested then.
      most of us in those days were selective about swearing only with our closer friends. It didn’t just roll off our tongues, like it does now.
      Thanks!

      well, you could easily just order the axis fuzz and octavia from roger mayer. great pedals, indestructible, and handmade in england. i own both. 250£, around about. plus, he made jimi's vibe and entire rig, basically. that'd stack up quickly.

    • @JaxGuitarPlayer
      @JaxGuitarPlayer 8 років тому

      Yes. At least one full Marshall stack at minimum would be in order. Maybe a plexi reissue head along with something like 1960tv angled and straight 4x12's. A good lefty 70's style strat restrung right handed. Yes, it would no longer be stock but could then sell it as a special right handed Anderton's tribute to Jimi Hendrix as featured in sound like Jimi Hendrix by busting bank video. That would be cool.

    • @15nicinho

      they kinda did bust the bank already, compared to their other videos. the strat alone is more than what they usually pay for for a guitar and amp.

  • @larrimos

    Rabea was once again simply astounding. I just wonder how much preparation Bea does for these. I hope for my sake he really has to study and practice for weeks before shooting the video...but the man probably just wakes up from a nap and busts out these masterful performances. It's easy to say that it's all in the gear...but you could put a hundred guitarists behind that gear and very few could do what we saw here by Bea.

    It's nice seeing a fellow small hand/short fingered guitarist become quite a good player. Every Little Wng tutorial on UA-cam shows a guy with SRV sized hands clutching a huge neck like a baseball bat and it's all thumbs and first finger voicing. The big haired chap with the name I can't remember but probably hinders him at the airport when trying to catch a flight, he plays some barre chords like I have to to pull that off (though I'm not yet quite able to manage it to that degree of proficiency). All that to say - small hands can still rip up a neck! I love all these videos, they're a great concept and I'm sure they help sell a bit of gear for Andertons, which is a great marketing idea.

    • @hecticsceptic592
      @hecticsceptic592 4 роки тому +1

      SRV was a small guy too. His height was 165cm. His hands were not big either. Google "SRV hand size myth buster" and you will find that SRV's hands were smaller than average. His hand size is printed in cement at the Fargo walk of fame, so it can be proven that he did NOT have big hands. Strong hands yes, but big hands no.

    • @patrickbrazil3383
      @patrickbrazil3383 4 роки тому

      Hectic Sceptic Weird! All the pictures of him I’ve seen his hands look giant. Same with Hendrix. Off topic, google a pic purported to be Robert Johnson. He has the longest fingers I’ve ever seen.

    • @hecticsceptic592
      @hecticsceptic592 4 роки тому +1

      @@patrickbrazil3383 In every video and picture of SRV that I have seen, his hands look completely normal for a short, skinny, small man. Somehow the strange myth of him having gigantic hands was spread everywhere like some kind of crazy legend, but there is no proof. False information, rumours, and gossip all have a habit of spreading far and wide. People believe in all kinds of fake stuff nowadays. Robert Johnson looks like he has quite long, skinny fingers. He was a very skinny man, and a very skillful delta blues guitarist. Being skinny can also make one's fingers appear to be longer than they really are.

      He was probably still using his black LP custom during that time... And I know he used them for the Girls and Feelgood album but what was the brand new metal amp Marshall had released around that time? Good ol JCM800
      So despite using Hamers and BC Riches in videos and live around that time, I'm sure it was mainly his Les Paul Custom into some 800's. Why spend time and money on different gear when you could use it on blow and heroine?

      fender super champ x2 combo (£369)
      ibanez mini tube screamer (£69)
      vox v847-a (£82)
      the rig would cost £1394 and i think it would come somewhat close to his sound. i went with the surf strat couse he used a strat with lipsitck pickups and the super champ becouse it has a lot of different vintage fender sounds build in.
      disclamer this is all speculation and i do not own any of this gear.

Besides, they shoot a bunch of these videos at once so they don't have time to do setup work on the guitars. It would've been cool to see them use an appropriately modified guitar though.

      Buy all of Jimi Hendrix's original gear, buy Jimi's grave, dig him up, cut off his hands, have his hands re-animated and replace your own hands with his. Buy guitar lessons from somewhat close sounding music stars like John Mayer and exclusively play and learn Hendrix songs and techniques from them. With all of that stuff together, you'd 100% have the Hendrix tone.
