"Need your love so bad" was the first solo I ever learned, 40 years ago... too bad you 're picking on mister Clapton, you should not compare two giants!! You needed to get to know mister Green through mister Simpson? You mean, just recently? Now that is a shame! You should know your heroes!!!...Oh well!! (don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to...(
This video should be protected by the laws of gravy purely because of the good-natured, friendly and altruistic way that Lord Dave of Simpson SHARES his experience of playing like PG. You watch this video and are simply encouraged to have a go...there's no ego, no pride, no when-you're-as-good-as-me you might manage this attitude, just pure love and enthusiasm for the man, his music and the guitar. Only a robot algorithm could fail to see this!
I’m on a Peter Green kick. Had a feeling to revisit your channel. Just have to reiterate the point- from a practical perspective, you are by far my favorite channel, Dave. If you broke off a specifically lesson-oriented channel I’m sure it would also be very successful. Thanks for everything 🙏
I never listened to Peter Green-era Mac until seeing this for the first time. Those idiot record companies should be happy because more people are actually listening to the music and therefore they’ll get more royalties from the music sites.
Hmmm when one defines a scale normally its discussed in terms of key, intervals, maybe even notes. Peter green scale sure looks like a d minor pentatonic with an added. major 3rd.
Thanks for this re-upload, so sorry the copyright stuff has struck you hard. I had been wanting to approach you with a request breaking down the song Green Manalishi, specifically the lead parts and the solos on the Boston Tea Party and New Orleans 1970 versions, but I don't want to get you in more trouble with copyrights. Thank you for all the material you've given us. You've helped a lot of people learn how to play like Peter and without spending tons of money on other sites with lessons and buying guitar books which are a pain to learn from without watching someone.
Hey brother , really enjoy your guitar lessons , loving the Peter green lessons especially as I’m a big fan and love his style of playing , I’m getting so much out of it . Keep up the great work brother . Greetings from Australia 👍
This is such a great channel! I also just watched the Anderson video "Sound like Fleetwood Mac". Really excellent information, Dave! I was on a Wes Montgomery obsession until I discovered all this amazing Peter Green content on UA-cam. Now I've modded my LP with Monty's Bethnal Green pickups.. Question Dave @thedavesimpson: how important is it to have a Fender amp like the Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb 1x12" you used in the Anderson's video? I think I read that Peter used a Marshall JTM 45 Mk II in the Bluesbreakers? I have one of those, so I'm not sure what extra the Fender amp would give?
This information and demonstration with your personality makes learning fun . Absolutely excellent teaching. Can't thank you enough for the unlocking the neck lessons. Its opened up my world no end. I love Peter Green's touch . It's so uniquely him . I'd love you to break down oh well . Love the solo in that stop starts ect. Really shows his versatility off.
I can’t believe I haven’t seen this with all the training I’ve been saving for the last 2 years..finally someone teaching Peter Green..I tt my friends about him and they are like who??? 😂tytytytytyty
Great stuff, Dave. This is so easy to follow. One day, when I eventually visit your country (Brycheiniog in particular, where my people are from), I'd like to catch up for a beer or two...only we prefer our beer cold here in OZ (".)
Hi Dave - Give yourself a BIG PAT on the back for introducing your take on playing like Peter Green - You are a talented musician well done - very impressed.
I am listening to Peter since the 70s and I am covering some of his songs on acoustic and electric. His material is very rewarding when busking. ;-) Funny coincidence when I listen to your video I see the next song is Peter (playing a Strat) its a newer video but apart from that you are right that most of his stuff is a Les Paul. He played a Strat in the early days and he does so now from time to time but in between he played almost exclusively a Les Paul.
Peter briefly played a Strat some time I think around 1967 or 1968. It was a 50s model with a sunburst finish and maple finish. There are even photos of Fleetwood Mac shows with him playing that guitar, but then it completely disappears and he's back to the Les Paul.
Just watched the Andertons Peter Green thing Dave and I really loved it i’m really glad you’re involved in the videos and you really got me into thinking about Peter Green right from this first video and I just got asked to join a blues band so I’m re-visiting in all this stuff and hoping to sort of get much better at it. Thanks a lot Dave I really love it it really is inspirational I owe you one . Baz
Great video Dave, Great guitar lessons. Great Tribute to the greatest guitar player in the world, welldone keep the videos coming, R.I.P. PETER GREEN see you on the other side.
Was wondering if it would be too much to ask to do a green manalishi live at Boston guitat tutorial would be too much to ask? I think your incredible and have best peter green lessons on UA-cam hands down! Thanks
Glad this was re uploaded. I remember watching this video and really taking a firm education on it. I always wanted to learn the way Peter played and sounded. All the other PG Vida you've done Dave have been very helpful. The only thing I was hoping for would be a video lesson on how to play the Supernatural when he was in John Mayall and the blues breakers. I can't find a proper tab or lesson on it. Either way great video.
Just seen an old interview with Jimmy Page..the les Paul.. The interviewer asked About the mods He said a push pull pot takes the pick ups Out of phase.. The guy asked why..... Jimmy looked at him As if he was a twat.. And said.... PETER GREEN MAN.. ITS AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET..... guitar god salutes a guitar god... Respect....
Awesome dave i wish you would or i mean could do a reibute in the fashio or thin lizzy ugh one thing i wish i was as talented as you to play all there songs there just amazing you do them so well ive been looking for a zokm pedal like yours to perhaps get the settings to have that tone .
Greetings from Hershey, PA, USA. Thanks so much for what you are doing. You are a gifted guitarist and guitar instructor. Are you using that BOSS 63reverb pedal? I purchased one after seeing your enthusiasm about it.🙂
H Dave Hope all is good with you. Love Peter green, any chance you could do a tutorial of fleetwood mac man of the world, such a great song and i think it says where he was when he wrote it.
Hey 👋, I do like your playing. Just ran into your site. I ‘m budgeted to my gear but, I pickup a Harley Benton p90 less Paul. I was very good price. They sold it as a blemished. Top pickup was breaking in out. I just had it rewire solder reversed it and no problem. It took a while to get because COVID-19. Shipping just stop for quite some time. But maybe you look into them or not. Thanks for you sharing your Music. I enjoy it very much. I’m 57 of age. Thank you again!!!
how on earth can they stick adverts in the middle of music lessons that people are concentrating on? Dipsticks ruin it for everyone Sorry Dave. Great video as usual.
Hello Dave. Peter green left us recently. I would like to ask you a favor. Please analyse ( Peter and Dany)and give us a lesson of the solo part starting from 2:23 of black magic woman public version
RiP Greeny, very few came close to his feel.
We all miss Greeny,,, he was here to teach us and help us carry on. We miss you Peter.
I'm so glad you're uploading these again! Your breakdown videos are really meaningful. Screw the copyright police.
Thank you very much. : )
Rest In Peace Peter Green
youtube copyright is getting ridiculous, really ridiculous.
You introduced me to Peter green and now i can never get enough of hearing him a truly underappreciated blues man. Clapton is God? Please...
The Green God
I don't know that Peter is underappreciated to anyone that knows the blues.

Pick up an LP, roll the tone off and Mr P Green just pops out! :-)
Worth mentioning that the pickups were wired out of phase, which can be replicated by modern day trickery
Hey Dave,
Any fat chance to give a lesson on Blues in B-Flat (Before the Beginning)?
Hmmm when one defines a scale normally its discussed in terms of key, intervals, maybe even notes. Peter green scale sure looks like a d minor pentatonic with an added. major 3rd.
going through this again in honour of peter. RIP great job Dave.
So atmospheric I had to watch this in the dark. Top notch what!

Just revisiting the lesson and learnt more in 5 mins than struggling with a book..thanks Dave :)

I thought you were going to talk about the pickup swap thing you mentioned at the beginning?

Worlds loss, but heaven is singing the blues. I run p90’s top out of phase. Don’t over play tone. Let it work it’s own.

May 20 lock-down lesson…..
There is no "copyright" for a "I IV V" minor chord progression. Nobody owns the copyright to a chord progression.
You'd think so. :(

Sorry Dave. Great video as usual.
I'm back to my origine nice you reuoload that one 👍🙂
4 minutes in and I'm thinking - Green never used that much reverb
He did bit his was spring and sounded different.
Good man. I was enjoying rewatching them when they "went missing"! Fingers crossed!
Yayyyyy!!! 👏👏👏
Kind of stumbled onto this Peter Green instructional series - and really glad I did, too. Very useful. A keeper. Thanks, Dave.
