    I have always liked this setup. First time I saw this was in the early 80's down in Land Between the Lakes ORV area. Camper and room for a bunch of dirt bikes. (pre SXS times). Ha.

    Awesome setup! My camper weighs 5,000 lbs dry weight but with all my gear probably pushing +6,000 lbs. Last time I weigh my truck w/ camper I was pushing 500 lbs above my 16,000 GVWR limit on my 2007 F-450 (I should have purchased a F-550.) So I was considering getting a cargo trailer to offload some weight from the camper but now that I found your setup I am having doubts about those plans.

      In campers I think less weight can equate to less quality. If you use your rig a lot the weight may just be a necessary trade off.

    That looks like a very nice and simple setup, and probably tows better that a bumper pull trailer, some of these 5th wheel campers seem to very much overkill and get to the stage where you need a class 7 or 8 truck to safely pull it.

    This is very similar to what I want to do, but I would place the camper so it wasn't over the trailer neck. I'd use that space for storage (air compressor, generator, tool box, etc).

    Great and creative! Imagine that the main difference if one were using a regular hitch instead of 5th wheel/ Gooseneck would be the big change in hitch weight when the "garage" is full with a Polaris/ other toy vs when there is nothing there to add weight in the back. Possible the difference would affect driving characteristics, especially without a weight distributing hitch. Not an issue if one is aware before hand to account for it though. Enjoy.

      @tyrannyresponseteam9534  7 місяців тому

      Hi, yes it is street legal with an out of state tag. Of course I had to do all the D.O.T. stuff, windshield, turn signals, mirrors, tires, insurance, etc. I think Ga. should have the tag process for UTV's on county roads ready by now. I'll see what that means for me and my tag, Where being on the road before was a gray area, it's now spelled out by law what roads a UTV can operate on. I wouldn't go through the process of getting an out of state tag that Ga. might not honor unless you really feel you need one for other states.
      If you see me in town stop and say hello.
      Thanks

      @@tyrannyresponseteam9534 Thanks for the reply. It was a year ago this week that we hauled our Polaris UTV’s to West Virginia to ride the Hatfield McCoy trail systems and stayed in cabins. Your rig would be great for this outing. I recently purchased a new Honda CRF300 Rally and went to the DMV in Columbia County to register and I asked about registering my Polaris UTV for driving on road, and the person was aware but could answer no questions. We often ride through your neighborhood from D*****Branches on our UTV’s in the evening. If we see you out, I’ll make sure I say hello.

      Colin,
      I'm not sure, I pulled a 5th wheel camper for 2 years. It's bedroom, bath, and most of the kitchen area were all in front of the axles. The camper was around 13,000 lbs. I can tell you this set up doesn't feel as heavy on the back of the truck while in tow, the camper is only 2200 lbs. It does however feel better pulling when the Razor is on the back of the trailer. The truck has air bags, but they only have about 30 lbs. in them when the video was taken, so you can get an idea of how it sits. Sorry I couldn't give you exact info.

    • @tyrannyresponseteam9534
      @tyrannyresponseteam9534  Рік тому

      Colin,
      I'm pretty sure the set up I have would be to much for a half ton truck. When researching size n weight for my setup I saw nice campers much smaller. Travel Lite TLRV makes a nice one smaller and much lighter.
      Being that these rigs aren't factory built requires a good bit of research.
      I pulled a fifth wheel camper that weighed about 13,000 lbs that gave me a very good reference point for building a goose camper. Long story short, no I wouldn't try the same set up as mine. But I would research other options.
