If you know you want just 4 channels you can save by ordering a four channel NVR. When we ordered the recorder, we added 2 Terabyte memory which they installed. We see that we have about two weeks of data by leaving four cameras on all the time. Therefore we think you'll be fine by adding just 1 Terabyte memory at time of order. Word of advice from a trucker: The laws in ALL of the states in the US require drivers to either (1) move over OR (2) slow down when any police car or emergency vehicle with it’s lights flashing is parked on the shoulder. A buddy of mine got caught once doing neither and it cost him a bunch of time and an attorney fee to get the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation.
At least in Missouri, when unsafe to move over, slowing down to at least 20MPH under posted speed limit qualifies as compliance. Of course, "safe to move over" is in the eyes of the beholder....or, Trooper.
We have the same laws in Australia. They cause more accidents because people slam on the brakes, or swerve when they see the flashing lights and hit other cars. The police do not like the laws as said laws, enacted to raise revenue, now present a safety hazard to the cops.
I drove a tow truck for years so I have been on the other end of this story. We all know the stories of what happens when things go wrong. It is life changing. Sometimes it is life ending. Before you start your vehicle always anticipate that today will be the day to anticipate the unexpected and also say a little prayer.
Sometimes I have to say a lot of prayers. Every time I start to lose my religion, I have to send up another prayer to tame my temper and clean up my potty mouth. I overcame the swear words years ago but every now and then, something happens, and I think the words but I catch up and don’t say them. Thank you Jesus. 🙏😃❤️🩹✝️
You are retired, you have no schedule to follow, and you are presented with a challenged to right a wrong... and you refuse to do your duty to fight this. I am so glad you are so easy to be subjected to a shake down by the man. Good Job!
You guys are great! Keep up the good work. As you may know many people have been killed on the side of the road, including police officers. Everyone should move over for anyone along the side of the road. Some have died for running out of gas or a flat tire, truckers have slipped checking their rig and fell into traffic.
I don't travel at all . Your advice and attitude inspire me and calm me down about my 'bad days'. Your content is excellent, never any pointless bla bla bla. I come away learning something every time.
Looking at that hitch rock gave me the willies. I could see it breaking loose, or the weight of the trailer causing a roll over. Glad you had conscientious repair persons. God bless you.
I was strongly considering an Anderson hitch when we were first starting out. I read some reviews where people had the ball snap off in hard braking or low speed collision situations, sending the pin box through the back window of the truck. We ended up with a Demco Recon hitch which works with the Atwood goose ball in our truck. Yes, it's heavy, but it installs in three peices so not bad.
I saw this earlier - and wanted to give you a bit of info: In Wisconsin, the law is such that you must move over a lane when there is an emergency vehicle with lights flashing on the shoulder.. However, IF the lanes are full and you cannot move over, you must reduce speed to 45 mph or less when passing... IIRC, it's the same in MN... Best wishes you two!
Here in MD they expanded the law to include ANY stopped vehicle. That's a lot of lane shifting with the added effect of adding to the stopped cars on the shoulder. It would be laughable seeing all this lane changing back and forth except it's so dangerous.
@@roseymalino9855 I haul vehicles for an enclosed transport company, I sometimes have to load/unload on the shoulder or center of the road, I put out orange traffic cones, plus have flashing lights on my tractor and trailer, and have had people run OVER the cones.
@@StarDriver1 Understood. I routinely stop to help stopped vehicles and experience how some people are unable to steer straight when they look to the side as they pass. Slowing for stopped vehicles is good; having poor drivers spontaneously changing lanes is dangerous.
Wow!! I just want to tell you that you are the most optimistic positive amiable thinkers and you literally made my day and even though I am usually all of those things and feel like no one else in the world is. I just want to thank you for having that attitude in life sharing the love and giving us that feel like we’re too amiable the heads up we’re not alone and reminding us that when we want to blow up and lose our temper pout or throw a fit because none of us are perfect ALLLL the time!!! But it’s certainly better to be positive and more easy going even when others aren’t!
Man that's scary. My husband and I were dragging a new boat. We were singing songs and didn't notice so someone was behind us the boat was straight up behind and we were singing away. It was really funny. We fixed it and laughed about it. Everything turned out fine. Then we got to fl and sun was going down. Husband wanted to put boat in river for a little while. I said wait until tomorrow. He did it anyway. Well we got stuck on a sandbar and it was dark. Kids were crying I said I'm divorcing you. We called a friend who came and pulled us out . I said when are you gonna start listening to me a woman's intuition.Anyway I didn't divorce him. Then we got to our new place. Next day we found a crab in the yard The kids and I took it to the ocean and put it in and said be free. We thought we were saving it's life. We had halos over our head. Then our friend said it was a land crab. Then a week later there was a big white pig in our backyard so I said awww and walked out there thinking of green acres. A neighbor yelled go in the house that's a wild boar then animal control came out with two dogs. It tore one of them up but he lived. All was well the Lord was watching over us saying poor people don't know much about fl. Hahaha 😂
That is a bummer ... I always use Waze and will usually get a verbal warning when vehicles are on the side of the road up ahead. It has saved me several times.
If you would allow me to inject my opinion about the not moving over ticket! As I was observing your cameras, I did not see anyone beside you or close to being beside you when you had the potential given to you to see the officer on the side of the road From a distance. As a professional truck driver, I was trained to look as far down the road as I can very frequently. When you do see vehicles or emergency vehicles on the side of the road, the first thing that you should do is turn on your turn, signal and allow people to recognize that, and move over for you. Thank you for the video, good contact.
Always thought it was move over or slow down if you can't make the lane change! I would think that with you're video evidence that you did what you could given the circumstances, you should be able to get it dismissed. Good luck 👍
Please stay out of my state if you're to stupid to move over for vehicles on the side of the road .. maybe it's time for you weirdos to give up your DL before you really hurt someone!!
"You guys exemplify what it means to be truly good humans “being.” It appears their use of "Yayhoo" & " Redneck" mean, they "You guys exemplify what it means to be truly good humans “being.” NOT.... It would appear more like THEY let it slip out how they really are as people. I'm Unsubscribing!!! Because It seems their are WAY to many others here just like they are also.
Be careful about your ticket, failure to appear can result in a warrant. In compact law states it can result in a suspended license. I don't know why there isn't a pay by mail option, but I'm sure you can send a copy of the ticket and video to the county attorney (or whoever represents the court) and have it dropped.
LOL.. No those are SERIOUS VIOLATIONS and cannot be dropped. That's why you have to go to court for the judge to impress on you the seriousness of the violation. Their videos actually prove they had time to take appropriate action. Using them as a defense would backfire on them. .
@@classickruzer1 Prolly would have had to slow down a bunch with the left turn signal on the whole time until they could move over prior to the LEO. 🚓 Ticketing Corvettes or Motorhomes, Cops love people with deep pockets 🤑
Can't pay by mail cause they want you to explain to the judge why you failed to yield to the cop same thing if you make a u-turn while on the highway it's a safety violation and may require more correction then a mere fine I garentee they'll get a bench warrent if they don't take care of if with a license suspension to help motivate you to get you're butt to court and explain yourself
Knowing the state laws is half the battle. Here in Florida if you can't vacate the lane, you need to go 25 under the posted limit. It didn't appear this trooper was in the middle of a stop, and was simply sitting there with his lights on waiting for violators. It may still be a violation, but real shady practices on the part of the Trooper. I'm curious if this is normal practice or a lone trooper looking for stats. I'd fight that. And I'm a 25 year LEO.
I recommend looking farther down the road , I understand that sometimes you can't see farther down the road because of obstacles, traffic , hills etc. in that case however, think you should have seen that police officer and lights sooner than you did. Professional truck driver for many years and I'm just being honest. Really. Enjoy your videos!
Good advice but but we aren’t pros. Sometimes you don’t see the sneaky blinking lights behind you when pulling a big trailer. It’s been years since I’ve been pulled over 😬
Same thing happened to us in OH. The cop didn't have anyone pulled over, but his lights were on. We could not change lanes. We had to make two separate 4 hour trips to court. The ticket was tossed, but we still had to pay court fees.
My advice to you and me included especially with a big rig in tow or if I have to be somewhere or if I am in a new city is to turn in the voice prompts on the GPS system like Google Maps. It really helps me make all my turns when I need to. I know it can interrupt the mood of the music being played, but it’s worth it at times like when a 10 mile journey turns into 300 miles and you need to get to an appointment. Just my 2 cents….(stepping off soap box) Be safe and Godspeed
Funny. Cop pulls you over, for not moving over, but when he pulls up behind you on the shoulder, his front wheels are STRAIGHT! So if someone hits him from behind, it will propel his car straight into the vehicle in front! They are supposed to cut the wheels to the left, FOR HIS SAFETY!
The fact that the cop creates a hazardous situation to the people in the vehicle he is pulling over and to himself by stopping them seems unreasonable. Most interstates have signs - EMERGENCY STOPPING ONLY, what was the emergency?
I had the exact thing happen to me as well. I couldn't change lanes because of traffic and so I slowed down. Still got the ticket but no proof that it wasn't safe to change lanes, and frankly the cop didn't care.
Truck driver here! I’m a professional driver, I drive for a living so I’m more aware of the driving laws than others, You should’ve signaled too get over, maybe someone would’ve let you over, if you can’t get over, you’re too slow down too half the posted speed limit and stay as far too the left as possible while still being in your lane, this isn’t just law for emergency vehicles, this is also the law for anyone working on the highway tow trucks, construction crews, etc. Although I believe they should make the move over law too include moving over for everyone. Even tho you’re not required by law too move over for stopped passenger vehicles on the shoulder it is the respectful and safest thing too do. Stay safe y’all.
don't listen to this driver, DO NOT SLOW DOWN TO HALF THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT!!! i have been a truck driver for 27 years. if you do this and someone rear ends you you will be at fault. yes you should slow down maybe about 10-15 mph. think about it if the speed limit is 55 and you slow down to half like this person says to do, you are now doing 27.5 mph on a freeway. he is right to move over if you can. the law says to move over when safe to do so. you can and will cause an accident if you do what he is saying to do.
@@DemonsAdventures I went too Cdl school in 2021. And that’s what they teach you too do in todays world. Most freeways are 70-75 mph if you’re in the right lane and can’t get over you should be slowing down by more than 10-15 mph the police will get your ass if you don’t. But I guess in your example of a 55 mph speed limit 10-15 mph would work as that would be 35/40 mph. Around the same speed as slowing down halfway from 70-75 mph.
@@Takemehome99 i see math isn't something your good at, from 55 10-15 would be 45/40. and your school was wrong. in RL if you are impeding traffic, with a clear lane in front of you. and someone runs into you from behind you can and most likely will be sued by them for traveling to slow on the freeway. but that's ok you do you! i see with your 2 years of driving truck you know more then i....
@@DemonsAdventures do you not understand the English language? I see it’s not your strong suit as you clearly missed everything I said. 55 isn’t the speed limit on 99.99% of freeway in America. 70 mph is the majority. 55 mph is typically the minimum speed in most 70 mph zones. I never said too travel at a low speed, I said if you can’t get over too lower your speed too pass. I assumed a 70 mph speed limit when I said half so maybe I didn’t communicate that clearly enough. I never said too impede traffic. And no if they rear end you because you slowed down due too an obstruction such as passing a cop with no ability too get over for a few seconds, they would be 100% at fault for following too closely.
I had that same hitch for about 5 years and I loved it. it wasn't the aluminum one. It was steel and weighed about 75 lbs. I bought it used. Definetly a great hitch.
The same thing was going on in GA a few years ago where the local police would flip their lights on for no reason. Obviously I95 has lots of trucks and no one will let you pull over to make it safe for law enforcement. The fine was $330 and you had to show up. There must have been 20 motorists there and made it known this was a trap. It didn’t matter.
Nice job. I don't think that you said this but humor has served me well over the years. I've been through unspeakable and incredible hardships and challenges but I'm still going. That reminds me of the old watch commercial I think it was for Timex but I could be wrong on that: Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Stay safe. ❤
25 years in law enforcement and I must say that the officer was wrong and should have given you the benefit of your safety over his by believing your safety and the safety of approaching left hand vehicles are priority. Just a trap and that is disgraceful for this day and age. Kentucky, you should be ashamed of your traffic enforcement policies.
Yep, we were not too happy. Thanks for your comment, Alan. The thing is, the law says if you can't move over to slow down. Paul did not do that because he was so focused on trying to change lanes into faster moving traffic. He'll do better next time.
Grayson Kentucky is well known for doing this kind of stuff. I drive thru there 4 to 5 times a year, every time I see cars and trucks pulled over. I myself received a speeding ticket for going 1 MPH over posted limit. I had to take my truck in to dealer to have speedometer checked. According to the report, they found it to be 3 MPH off, on the slow side. Since I had my cruise control set at the posted speed limit, I was actually going 3 MPH under the limit not 1 MPH over it. I went to court, won the case, the cop told me next time he sees my truck he's going to pull me over and find drugs and guns in it. I laughed in his face, go ahead and try it, see what happens. Doesn't know I transport military weapons and ammunition routinely. I can't wait for him to try it!!
Let me help you out. This was not a speed trap. It's not a law to just fix roadways, it's a law to keep people safe, people like me. Ohio is not a mandatory court appearance for the first offense and it is a citation that starts off with 2 points being added to your driving record. The cameras you have do not vindicate you at all. You failed to BRAKE. Yes, you might not have gotten over safe, but you also did not BRAKE and that is required when you can not get over. The cop had been on the shoulder with his lights on probably completing the paperwork from the previous traffic stop he performed. Just because we get back to our cars after issuing your citation, does not mean we are done with the stop. We still have other paperwork that must be completed. This is usually the time I then write my statement of facts for the Judge / Prosecutor to read. I find that the number one issue with people in the US these days, they do not watch the news or TV at all for that matter. This has been around for years and you certainly would have known the law if you paid attention to something simple as this. This is how we stay informed as to the type of crimes being committed in our areas we live, so we know how to combat the issues to keep us and our property safe. 1: Move over to the next lane or 2: Slow down when you go past the cop. I did not see one ounce of braking taking place and you had time to do it before passing the officer. They chase you down with lights and sirens???? Please, that is what they have to do. When the lights comes on, so does the siren. The only time I have my lights on only is when I'm heading to a burglary in progress, so I can catch the thief in the middle of his thievery. Sorry for the rant, but your video came across as putting down law enforcement for doing their job. All 50 states have this law and it protects those in public safety and the community on our roadways. There are 300+ people that die each year caused by fatal injuries they receive by passing motorists. I get it, some of them, they put themselves at risk, but others, it was simply a driver distracted by using his / her cell phone while driving. Another way to get a ticket now. I have spent 30 years in public safety, still working as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic, and I'll tell you I have almost been hit a few times because of peoples inattention while driving past emergency scenes.
Great upload guys As a caravanette owner in England for 10 years now I really envy your huge amount of space you have in both your country and your different rigs .👻👻👻
My ex-husband was a wrecker driver. 2 highway patrolmen had the fast lane blocked off so he could pull a car out of the median. Woman went around both highway patrol then pulled back in the fast lane. His head an shoulder went thru her windshield. He was carried on her hood for 75 feet before going up and over. Dont want to hear the whinning about having to slow down or move over.
Thank you for sharing your very tragic story. These lessons learned from people like you, who have experienced these horrible events, which help others in the future be more aware and understand the responsibilities a driver has to their fellow road users.
Hi guys! So me & my partner will be doing our share of NEW RV TRAVELING next year round February!!! I watch everything & anything about long distance traveling & was so happy to find you folks!!! Great info about a sitting Highway patrol with lights on in Kentucky!!!! Looking forward to more awesome videos!!! Thank you 😘
Has nothing to do with a speed trap. Just idiots that don’t move over for emergency vehicles law enforcement tow trucks service trucks etc I don’t know how many times I’ve almost been hit trying to work.. I hope you learned your lesson and move over and slow down from now on.
You obviously didn’t slow down! Just because you were only going 63-64 isn’t enough. You should have hit your brakes well in advance if you saw you couldn’t move over! You absolutely broke the law and your cameras proved it!!
As a long haul truck driver anytime it’s unsafe for me (or just impossible) to move over. I first turn on my flashers then slow down as much as possible. But I see people (especially truckers) that do neither. They just fly by. Y’all are the first I have heard of getting stopped and getting a ticket…. Lesson learned
You are so right. Paul now realizes he needed to slow down. He'll do better next time. Thanks for watching, and for all you do to keep our economy moving!
I received one on the New York State Thruway 7 years ago. His lights were not flashing. Had to take a day off and go to court to plead down to parking on the sidewalk.
I love ANDERSEN's customer service. I have one of their weight distributing hitches, and I bought a newer vehicle 3 months after I bought the hitch. It turns out the drop bar was too short for the taller vehicle. I called them and the same thing happened.... they mailed me the proper unit and paid for return shipping on the old one, even exchange even though I had used the original part! I love the product too, BTW.
You two are great! I’m enjoying your content. I’m also an old state trooper, so I can shed some light on your experience. First, your cameras are great - nice to have a good record - but in my state your cameras would have convicted you, because you didn’t slow as required. Also, I can’t speak for Kentucky, but our patrol cars have cameras facing forward and back, and the date, time, and speed are indicated on the video screen. Next, we routinely leave our lights on after a traffic stop so we can reduce the risk of being struck while we are completing paperwork. Why? Because we don’t want to have our eyes down working on the computer while the person we just stopped is still there. That’s a dangerous habit - so we should keep our head on a swivel until we’re alone, and then finish up. The lights stay on to slow traffic and reduce risk while our attention is focused inside the patrol car. Even that isn’t ideal, but it’s much more efficient than getting off the highway. Finally, we don’t need to create a “trap” to find law violations. Very few people really understand all the DMV laws, and even fewer attempt to consistently follow them. Vehicles are much safer than they used to be, with crush zones, ABS, and other electronic intervention that prevent crashes and make them survivable when the do occur. In spite of that, the fatality rate in my state continues to climb sharply. People are drinking, smoking pot, fussing with their cell phones, watching movies, speeding, eating - pretty much everything but juggling while driving. I’m about to retire after 33 years, and I’m convinced people are a little more foolhardy and a little less aware of potential consequences every year. Finally, every state and administration is different but, for us, the primary directive is motor safety. Basically, we’re trying to stop people from killing each other, which they seem determined to do. None of the revenue from our tickets comes to our agency, and much of it is directed to the counties, which contribute nothing to our department budget. We have no quotas, and when trooper activity is evaluated a warning is seen as equivalent to a ticket. Every trooper is different, but I warn most people. I ticket those who seem to require a ticket - that includes those who have terrible driving records, those who are engaged in extremely dangerous behaviors, those who deny the violation I witnessed and recorded on video, and most of those at high speeds with radar detectors. Most of being a state trooper is boy scout work. I’ve changed a lot of tires, rescued a lot of families who headed into the cold completely unprepared, and so on. I’m never surprised by how completely unprepared, untrained, incompetent, impaired people can be…. There are millions of rolling dumpster fires out there just racing around looking for their place to crash, so unless I can get well off the shoulder or behind a barrier, I keep my lights on after a traffic stop until I get back into traffic. I’ve seen several lifetimes worth of death and other awful, including trooper death, so I don’t feel bad about slowing people for two or three minutes. I hope this helps.
To add to that, I am a 22 year patrol deputy in Florida, where we also have a “move over” law. For that officer to remain in the emergency lane under the overpass after (possibly) completing a traffic stop is foolish. We have minimal control over where a person stops their vehicle, but we have total control of our patrol vehicle (and ourselves) when a traffic stop is completed. For him to remain where he was instead of driving forward 30 yards and pulling onto the grassy shoulder indicates he was less interested in keeping himself in a safe position while (possibly) finishing paperwork, than he was in stopping a motorist. If I were a tyrant, I could just sit on the shoulder of ANY road with my emergency equipment activated (for no reason) waiting for a motorist failing to move over just so I can hand out a citation. If the law is to keep first responders safe, it is also incumbent on first responders to keep themselves safe at the conclusion of a traffic stop. I see he wasted no time “finishing that important paperwork” to conduct this traffic stop.
Hey, just saw your video…very cool!!! The travel of you hitch can induce fatigue and eventual failure. In order to reduce the travel, go to an auto parts store and buy some ‘57 Chevy motor mount bushings and grade 8 fender washers if the same size. This will allow to torque the hitch down while blunting the wear and tear on your truck. Hint: it also works well for the rear shocks on classic Mustangs!
Same thing happened to us a few years ago just outside of Deadwood SD. I couldn’t move over because of traffic and I thought I slowed down enough but I guess it wasn’t slow enough. Well he chased us down, but we lucked out with only a warning. Again it was to slow down move over campaign. Maybe it was my veteran status on my license that saved me. Safe travels all.
Specially when you are planning to fill out the tank is worth just filling out the tank when you can. I have travel a couple times from Arizona to Michigan and back, first time I was thinking about getting gas in next gas station, then I decided to go to the next one but after 5 min, I had to do a U turn and come back because I would not make it, had to cross the middle because next U turn was around 30 min away
In florida we have the same move over law, but if you can't you're supposed to slow down to something like 20 under the limit, or 45 mph, whatever the minimum is for the freeway.
We pull with an Anderson and I get comments from others that it is "made from Aluminum so it can't be strong". Well, we went through South Dakota twice and regularly drive through Oklahoma. So if it will survive that kind of torture I think we may be alright, unless we decide to try to pull our 40' fifth wheel up one of the Moab Jeep trails. We had a traditional hitch with our old fifth wheel and got used to chucking. I don't have that with the Anderson.
The comment about having a good partner caught my attention because of what happened to us. We were on the PA turnpike going through a construction zone when a truck came up on the left and was so close I was sure it was going to take out our mirror or side swipe us so I made the slightest adjustment to move to the right. BUT, I was already so close that we ended up bouncing off the cement construction zone barrier and we had the scariest minute of our lives. Fortunately, I maintained control of the rig and we slowed down and were able to take the exit which we were at. Once we took the exit, I pulled safely off onto the shoulder and we both got out of the MH and I was a tad upset! My dear wife just came over, gave me a hug and said "It's OK....we're all right". Fortunately, there wasn't any damage that prevented us from continuing the ride home so after taking a lunch break and some time to get calmed down, we were able to get home. I confess....I still get a little apprehensive in construction zones, but last fall, we traded in our MH for a Winnebago Via (Sprinter chassis) and driving a rig that is only 7 1/2 feet wide has made it fun to be on the road again.
Some states with a "move over" law say that if you can't must over, you must reduce speed. So not being able to move over, AND not slowing down, would make it a legitimate ticket. You'd have to read the Kentucky law.
In TX, if you cannot move over, you have to slow down at least 20 mph below the posted speed limit. I wish more people knew this. Also, if the posted speed is 25, you have to slow down to 5 mph if there is no additional lane to pass.
You guys have a cast iron positive attitude which most ppl don't, hence a lot of folk turn their back on the RV life. Great to see and we can all learn from this 💖💪💪💪
Enjoyed your video ! We've me and wife have been camping bout every since we've been married except for first 5 yrs but have been ever since that's about 35 yrs we've owned campers 4 to be exact ! One day I hope to get to retire and hit the road like you all are doing ! And yes there are bad days being campers but there's a lot more good days than bad day ! Right now we have a 32ft tag along with dual slide outs ! We enjoy it very much !
Anderson Hitches and accessories I have found to be of superior quality and craftsmanship. Glad to see their customer service is as well - I have never had to use it. :)
Be careful just paying it. I got pulled over the exact same way in NC. I was driving a U-hall in the right lane with cars to my left. I just decided to pay it since I couldn't be there for court. When I got confirmation of payment I got a notice that it was 4 moving points on my license. It got to my insurance company and my rates more than doubled for 7 years!
Hi, here in Florida if you can’t move over then you must reduce 20 from the current speed limit except when the speed limit is 20 mph then you must drive at 5 mph and this year 2024 started that it’s for every vehicle stop at shoulders like a regular truck or a car that just broke down must move over or reduce 20 mph from speed limit if you can’t move over because of traffic.
Not an RV'er but this was a very good video for general info besides an RV. Thank you, enjoy the road. If you can't move over, slow to the required mph by the move over law. Just be safe. Suppose3dly this is what the law is about.
6:00 They did the same campaign here in Ontario , Canada ... except it's a proper traffic law, "When you see flashing lights change lanes" .... After driving a heavy truck for years, I got to know when to use your size to an advantage ... Just make the lane change! :( In Canada far as I know EVERY Ticket is payable on line.
As a 45 Year Career Over the Road Truck Driver I've seen it go from Almost No States with Move Over "Laws" to Almost All States with a Law. As far as I know, in Every Case, it's EITHER Move Over OR Slow Down. The "Slow Down" part is what Varies, 10 MPH, or say down to 55, etc. In Your case, you should have just Slowed down More. FYI
Yes, you could easily win this... this stop is not lawful... there are IRS forms that I use to ask for an audit of the Officer, the Agency, and the Court... when there is no felony committed, no property damaged, and no one injured the Agent may be considered to be conducting private business under the color of law.
I'm by no means an expert on traffic laws but if I'm not mistaken, for any reason it's not safe to give a wide buffer lane change then a reduction in speed to the plausible limit should be the next allowed option.
As an ex tow trucker & truck driver; this law is a subjective revenue-based law because they know most out of staters aren't coming back for court (cha-ching) but, if a lane change isn't possible then slowing way down is the right and only option. Pain in the tukus yes, but, again, the right, and the cheaper thing to do!
Good vid, Think of yourself in a flowing river, which is easier. Going with the flow or trying to continuously fight against the current. That is the same for living your life, although on occasion there may be a need to push against the flow for personal and mental well being. 😇
In Colorado... I believe the law says if you can't pull over... slow way down and turn on your flashers... showing your concern for the safety of the situation...
So he was just stopped on the side of the road, waiting for people to not change lanes to pull them over? First of all, that’s a huge safety issue for the officer and you. There is absolutely no reason to do this unless he has a reason to pull off the road. Second, it’s as not reasonable for you to move over. You would have caused and accident, If you moved over. Ok, I read the law and you followed it so just explain that in court. The law states that if you cannot move over you just need to slow down and drive safely. You already said you were driving slow, lower 60’s and the speed was 70 so just take that video to court with you and tell them you slowed down and got over as far as you could. Hopefully the judge will dismiss the ticket!
I have a fifth wheel and tow with a one ton SRW truck. I have the B&W Companion and love the hitch. It is heavy. The upper two parts weigh 178 lbs. Have had it for 16 years. At 82, I am no longer able to lift and load the hitch so we are trading the fifth in for a class c. In my view, it would have been more dangerous to change lanes. The other traffic was faster than you.
I've had similar situations while traveling in the Us where I am in the left lane and there is no way to move over for a police car sitting on the right. I do the same and move over as far as I can and hope they don't come after you. I've been lucky.
OK! So some states do require you to slow down to a certain speed if you cannot get over. Also, I would DEFINITELY take that dashcam video to court. It's also why I have a blackbox style dashcam system in my class 8 tractors with multiole tractors.
In Illinois. Move Over is huge! I actually know the spouse of a cop that was killed in a failure to move over accident. However, in your situation, they set a TRAP for you. That is NOT COOL!
I got the same ticket near Boston driving from NYC to Maine - I fought it and won - while it is true that you should move left or right to give way to an emergency vehicle - "you only do so if safe and it is at your discretion" judge tossed my ticket as I had camera showing traffic did not allow for a safe maneuver
In Illinois it’s called Scott’s law being named after an officer that was hit by a vehicle that failed to slow down. You need to change lanes or slow down while passing a police car or service vehicle. Also we give tickets to deisels rolling coal on our roads.
The police are not your friends.. try never talking to them... And if you can give him a hard time and a lot of s*** do it. That side it's always nice to have a camera handy.
Similar thing happened to me in NJ a few years ago Bergen County police. I’m so glad they got rid of those A Holes. I’m in the center lane see red lights on the right shoulder. I give way to cars signaling to move left I pull to left lane. Cop on shoulder pulls out exactly as I pass him. POS pulls me over and gives me a ticket for “no trucks in left lane law.” I explain that I moved left for his safety. $360 fine. No more Bergen County cops a few years now they really are A Holes. I got another ticket I didn’t deserve from them. That’s another story for another time.
Good video I decided to subscribe to you. I used to be a truck driver and you need to pull over unfortunately sometimes it’s almost impossible. It seems to me like a trap ticket. I can’t stand those sometimes cops just will not give you a break. Keep up the good work I’ve subscribed to you and I’m enjoying your videos and channel.
Well we bought a small Jayco couples camper went from Ohio to Indiana and brought it home all’s good Sunday night went to car wash and noticed the top of the bed is touching the back of the cab . Get the truck home ( 2005 dodge 2500 crew cab 8 foot bed only to find out my frame is broken in half both sides , tube rust from inside poor design so no niagara Falls Niagara Falls I called my brother he says oh take my truck. He has a 2002 Ford excursion so I drive 150 miles get his vehicle get within about 15 miles of my home and blow the right rear tire out and made a mess out of his quarter panel, so when I was done, we did go to Niagara Falls had a great time and now I got a find somebody to repair a frame. I wish dodge would have designed things a little different these tubular frames get water in them and no drain holes in the bottom so they just fill up with water and write out so that’s my story. Great to hear your story I’ve driven truck and yes, there are a lot of states that don’t put up with not moving over or slowing down. Almost to a stop as you go bye, I understand why but in the same token aren’t you’re supposed to get rear ended trying to slow down on an interstate highway and the people behind you don’t always see those flashing lights. They need to get further off the road when they do stops then they do a and and should not stop anybody at the guard rail. They should tell them to move up to where the guard rail and butt so much for that. Y’all have a great time and be safe out there.
If its not a moving violation that will end up on your License and coud cost you in higher insurance. Pay te fine and just move on. If however this is a ticket that will count as a point on your license. Hire an attorney have the ticket negoiated to a lesser equipment failure non working break lights or anything like that this will make it an non moving violation and keep the points off your license. I did this for many years as a comercial driver I even used this to change speeding tickest to non moving violation to keep the points off. It works all the courts want is your money they dont make more money from tickets that put points on your license...
Those state-wide policing-for-profit campaigns are such a joy. In Texas, we have an annual "Click-It Or Ticket" campaign to remind us of seatbelt use. Since it was y'all's first time to be pulled over for not reducing speed passing an emergency vehicle, they should have let you off with a warning. After all, police aren't penalized for their mistakes. Citizens should be afforded the same courtesy for a first time.
Here in nsw Australia now if the police are pulled over with there lights on you’ve gotta move over a slow down to 40 kms if possible from 110 ks ; an I’ve got fine when this first came in it was on a blind corner an I couldn’t move over $375 an one 1 point ;
Info about our RV cameras and our hitch:
WHAT WE PURCHASED (and how to do it cheaper). Our total was about $850, it can be done for about $500, see notes.
Four cameras: www.supercircuits.com/4-megapixel-starlight-ip-turret-security-camera-98-feet-night-vision-hnc14-uai-0
One NVR recorder: www.supercircuits.com/8-channel-ultra-h-265-ip-network-video-recorder-nvre0801-0
The reason to get 8 channel is if you want to have more than four cameras, either now or in the future.

Yes, he did part one, but not part two. So he was only half right! Paul decided to pay it and move on. Thanks for your comment!
@@LizAmazing thats what they want you to do
At least in Missouri, when unsafe to move over, slowing down to at least 20MPH under posted speed limit qualifies as compliance. Of course, "safe to move over" is in the eyes of the beholder....or, Trooper.
I have a habit of moving over for ANY vehicle that is stopped on the shoulder or side of the road.

He is correct. You too are wrong.

Hahaha 😂
You two have a beautiful connection. Thanks for sharing your journey. Blessings for safe travels.
Good luck 👍
You guys exemplify what it means to be truly good humans “being”. Blessing be to you through out your lives! Just excellent!
You deserved that one! If you can't pull over to the next lane you have to slow down . Be safe
Thanks so much for watching.
Please stay out of my state if you're to stupid to move over for vehicles on the side of the road .. maybe it's time for you weirdos to give up your DL before you really hurt someone!!
"You guys exemplify what it means to be truly good humans “being.”
It appears their use of "Yayhoo" & " Redneck" mean, they "You guys exemplify what it means to be truly good humans “being.” NOT....
It would appear more like THEY let it slip out how they really are as people. I'm Unsubscribing!!! Because It seems their are WAY to many others here just like they are also.
Gotta love the entrapment.. when they sit on the side like that with lights on in congested traffic.. accidents happen.
If you’re a 25 year LEO and you make a statement like that, I’m a yellow kangaroo.

5:03 happened. You missed out over a lousy 25 seconds!
If you can't move over, you have to slow down to 20 mph under the posted speed limit
Stop guessing. There is no provision in Kentucky that states how much to slow down.
i looked it up, i don't see a number, just to slow down....but if you aren't slowing at all you don't have a defense
I agree. I retired as a professional driver and everywhere I ever went it was move over or slow to 20 MPH below the posted speed limit.
@happypappy6371 Agree... If you slow down, a 'normal cop' wouldn't pursue. Or, worst case, it's a quota thing..
I didn't know that - thanks for the tip!
I always do - it's common sense and common decency to at least move away from anyone stopped on / right next to a highway / freeway.
don't listen to this driver, DO NOT SLOW DOWN TO HALF THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT!!! i have been a truck driver for 27 years. if you do this and someone rear ends you you will be at fault. yes you should slow down maybe about 10-15 mph. think about it if the speed limit is 55 and you slow down to half like this person says to do, you are now doing 27.5 mph on a freeway. he is right to move over if you can. the law says to move over when safe to do so. you can and will cause an accident if you do what he is saying to do.

I don’t live far from Grayson county, if a cop wrote a ticket for a few over speed limit. He would get a cussing.
That's the problem with our country! CORRUPTION ... what a JERK; he needs to be FIRED!

You obviously didn’t slow down! Just because you were only going 63-64 isn’t enough. You should have hit your brakes well in advance if you saw you couldn’t move over! You absolutely broke the law and your cameras proved it!!

What a lovely couple. Godspeed to the both of you!
Thanks for the heads up on the
unconstitutional move over campaign.
Well it turns out if you can't move over you are supposed to SLOW down. Paul says he'll do better next time!
In Georgia if you can't move over, you need to slow down. Nice video.
You guys have a cast iron positive attitude which most ppl don't, hence a lot of folk turn their back on the RV life.
Great to see and we can all learn from this 💖💪💪💪
I got one of those tickets also. I also thought I did the best I could, I slowed and moved as far left as possible.
I have the Andersen hitch. Get the rubber pad from Andersen that will take up the slack in the hitch.
If the diesel was a old 93 Chevy 3500 sorry about that it has a mind of its on and dose that every once in a while.
Ha, good to know! Thank you!~
Hi, here in Florida if you can’t move over then you must reduce 20 from the current speed limit except when the speed limit is 20 mph then you must drive at 5 mph and this year 2024 started that it’s for every vehicle stop at shoulders like a regular truck or a car that just broke down must move over or reduce 20 mph from speed limit if you can’t move over because of traffic.
Not an RV'er but this was a very good video for general info besides an RV. Thank you, enjoy the road. If you can't move over, slow to the required mph by the move over law. Just be safe. Suppose3dly this is what the law is about.
The two of u r very articulate. T.u. for the sharing of ur experiences
You are two very nice people with very good advice!
6:00 They did the same campaign here in Ontario , Canada ... except it's a proper traffic law, "When you see flashing lights change lanes" ....
After driving a heavy truck for years, I got to know when to use your size to an advantage ... Just make the lane change! :(
In Canada far as I know EVERY Ticket is payable on line.
In my state (WA) you would have needed to slow down to 50mph to comply with the law. In most states it’s pretty similar.
It’s called the slow down move over law. If you can’t move over, slow down. WA is 10 mph below speed limit. KT just says slow down.
Yes, I love it. Thanks for this, Billie!
Love the smoke coming out of his ears😂😂😂😂
In Michigan if you cannot move over a lane, you have to slow down to 25 to pass a trooper.
Good to know. We learned in Kentucky if you can't. move over you are supposed to slow down to 20mph below the speed limit. Thanks for watching.
Your traffic citation is reminisce of the good ole Southern days, when they would say, "You can pay the fine now or wait to see the judge on Monday."
Just put your blinker on , even if you cant/don't switch lanes ..
He'll do better next time. Thanks for watching.
Sweet ❤ ,that banana is so good with vanilla bean icecream. Mmmm. Dont throw that away, its good for you.
Mmm, that sounds yummy!
Here in nsw Australia now if the police are pulled over with there lights on you’ve gotta move over a slow down to 40 kms if possible from 110 ks ; an I’ve got fine when this first came in it was on a blind corner an I couldn’t move over $375 an one 1 point ;
