12:31 Wow I too thought it was Stevie Wonder's 'Knocks me off my Feet' I heard a DJ Jazzy Jeff set where he cuts up that track to make it sound like ODB's 'Shimmy' 😮😮😮
Yeah I really thought it was Stevie Wonder but I never actually tried loading the sample in. The Paul David one is definitely the right one though. Thanks for watching.
@@DJFurio For sure. The one I want to see recreated above all others (also only recently found) would be NY State of Mind Part II, though-- you might be the first to show it off, too.
Ha no way… that William Bell video was from Jools Holland performance with Texas.. I was the DJ for them and can see my decks on the right 😂 great video as always
THAT GREGORY JAMES EDITION JOINT IS CRAZY, 'HIP HOP VS RAP' IS LIKE TOP KRS TRACKS TO ME.. I WONDER WHERE PREMIER GOT THAT SPACE VORTEX SOUND FROM ON 'WANNABEMCEEZ', REMINDS ME OF A LATE 60'S/EARLY 70'S CARTOON OR SCI-FI EFFECT..
Any chance of a "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" remake video with that Paul Davis sample? That's one of the few in this video I didn't know about, so I'd love to see it recreated
I will have to look into it. UA-cam have been so fussy with what they will let me show though. If I get it too accurate they will hit me with a copyright claim. Let me see what I can do though. That and the Mobb Deep ones are my favourites from this collection I think.
Dope video. Good to see EPMD. Cypress hill 🔥 CMW 🔥 Showbiz and AG yeah man. DJ Shadow mad album. Got it on CD. OC always good. I need to get that on vinyl man. Dilated people's are top. Evidence is dope too. Did you find them Duck Season's.? And Duran Duran gives me flashbacks man.😂🔥✌
Yeah there’s a pretty good mix in here and I tried to include a good amount of West Coast rappers too. I did find those Duck Season albums on an old hard drive. Thanks for reminding me.
Hey yo man nice history lesson. Cause it was enlightened on so many songs taken for granted dat where sampled. Humbling approach if u found a original hip hop song not sampled. I mean many where but the influence is so heavy. U can question now what was sampled or not.
it might be interesting to have a video of tracks that sample more than one track by the same artist. for example 'strong island' using 2 freda payne tracks. 'snakes' by ODB using 2 joe tex tracks. 'diary of a madman' (gravediggaz) using 2 johnny mathis tracks.
Wow, I can’t believe that we were wrong about the sample on that ODB track this whole time, lol. But that aside, I have to agree that it’s just amazing how we’re discovering these samples that have remained a mystery for around 25-30 years!
👍🙏🇬🇧I thought rza had self played that sample. I have played it many times with my Dave smith and moog synths it’s a simple riff. I will keep my eye for that davis one, tramp fat drum break all my years of digging and still never come across that one. Yo keep up the good work ✊
You know what’s crazy with that. I just looked it up. I have the original pressing of the US version and it’s not on there. It was on the European version as the last track. Thanks for pointing that out 👍
Most of these are known, I'm sitting on the sample from The Blast by Eternal Reflection, I was expecting something along those lines. Still enjoyable though.
I said I hadn’t shown any of them before and there were a few recently discovered ones, not that they were all unknown. Recent discovered were ODB, Mobb Deep and Gang Starr. The rest have been known for some time. Thanks for watching.
Gang Starr - Take It Personal, ODB - Shimmy Shimmy and Mobb Deep - Get Dealt With. That Mobb Deep one has only been discovered really recently. I’m surprised you knew all of those already
UA-cam has it under that topic but I don’t think that is the artist name. If you check the album cover and labels on the record, it doesn’t list anyone on it at all www.discogs.com/release/6611438-Unknown-Artist-Holiday-in-Rio

Seriously good sample that one. You could easily miss it if you didn’t know what part to look out for.
That sample flip in the ODB track is just pure genius!

I agree TS. I have heard other people including Just Blaze say that the sample came from the first few notes of Stevie W 'Knocks Me Off My Feet".
The Mobb Deep one made me go "WHAT?" in my kitchen at like 9:30 at night. I just looked it up the other day on whosampled.
