Thank you to the legendary *DJ Premier* for breaking down the historic timeline of this iconic track. Props to Jeru and Biggie for mending the tension and coming together as young wise men to make history together on Biggie's classic *Life After Death* album. What'd be dope is if some of the artists actually came on to discuss their part in the episode. But we all know there ain't many who remember their humble beginnings and would want to charge a dime because everything's about money nowadays. That's why I appreciate Preemo doing this shit for free. That's Hip-Hop 💯

I just looked the lawsuit up on LexisNexis. Chuck D was one of the two plaintiffs in for both the copyright claim and the defamation of character. He asked for at least $2 million for copyright and at least $250K defamation. The lawsuit was settled with him and the other plaintiff. The settlement was not made public, but the suit looks very strong. I would not be surprised if he got close to the full amount. So, he absolutely sued and retained his own lawyer for his interests in the suit.

I was jit in like 8th grade when 10 Crack Commandments dropped. I tell ya, it was an anthem for us and many many others! Anyone in the streets felt it and lived by it! Memories... shows how great music truly touches people across the globe and leave an imprint.

This guy Primo is smart, just his ability to archieve his production materials from that period and being able to tell us amazing stories behind them is just phenomenal, that is history right there

BIGGIE was such an amazing talent, to just "hear" a beat randomly and quickly have an idea as great as the 10 crack commandments. This is why BIG goes down as one of the best lyricists.

Is there a more humble, stand up geeza in the game than Premo!! Still fire on the 1s & 2s after all these years and long may it continue!! ✌️

Saw a Preemo set in Barcelona on March 9th, Biggies death day, like 10 years ago, he paid so much homage to Big. Will never forget that night.

Your insane, two completely different artists, different styles, different messages, Go watch your boy Tupacs first interview. He was NEVER a gangster. Do your research on your fave “rapper” before making such an ignorant comment.

I wish Premier would do like a behind the beat type of thing where he plugs in the floppy disk and triggers some of the pads from the song he's talking about. Love the history though, super stoked he's making these!

I remember that Hot 97 promo. It used to always open Hot 9 at 5. And the Hot 9 weren't always the same song every week. Hot 97 was amazing back in the days. None of that playlist crap they do today. Everybody got played. Jeru did a theme song on the station. That's proof enough. Imagine a guy like Jeru being played today....HA! Ad for Life After Death, one of the greatest albums ever in hip hop. I knew after I heard it, that it was going to get 5 Mics. Knew it right there. That album was special. I'm going to listen to it again and see how well it aged
