RD149: my preferred way to bring phosphates down

- Since the PO4 level yesterday measured .75ppm or higher, it was definitely time to knock them down. Phosphate Rx has been my tool of choice for over a decade. It's easy, quick, and works.

Definitely going to consider trying this in my own tank and then maybe move on to a couple clients tanks that have also been struggling with phosphates.
thx for sharin
I use phosphateE from brightwellaquatics and really does the job too. I used that one at my office from time to time. I usually test Monday’s , Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. I was thinking in doing it with a doser , all I have to do is measure how many mls are in the phosphate E cap of the bottle. Now on March I’m planing to keep a daily blog of how many caps I used on the month of march to see how mls in total I use in a month to keep the phosphates between 0.05 & 0.09 more or less. What do you think Marc will you agree with on this project 😊
See how it goes. I look forward to hearing how it went.
I used Phosphate E from Brightwell and it left a residue on my rockwork, half dose. I did have my skimmer on. I think Phosphate E and Phosphate RX are essentially the same chemical?
I don’t know, sorry.
I have a question? You don’t worry when dosing anything if it blows on your corals? Would it do them any harm or don’t worry about it? I’m assuming since you have a huge tank it shouldn’t but smaller tanks?
It merely turns the phosphate into a solid 'flake' (it's a flocculant) so it can be exported via filtration (10 micron sock or protein skimmer). Corals aren't affected by the cloud.
😮 I didn’t know something like that existed for phosphates 🤯. It doesn’t mess with alkalinity and calcium?
Not at all. Here's my full video: ua-cam.com/video/7x8bmqx9NOM/v-deo.html
@@melevsreef nice 👍
How is stuff not dying? Mines at .37 and my Monti is browning on the edge.
Corals get used to certain levels. But higher PO4 doesn't mean your coral will brown. It could be other causes like lack of flow/too much flow, or stings from neighbors, leaving an exposed area to turn brown.
Does this lower nitrate as well? If not what would you do to lower nitrate?
Unfortunately, no.
Water change, carbon dosing, big skimmer, algae scrubber, etc. I struggle with nitrates myself. In my case I carbon dose.
i run a tank without a skimmer can i still use this
I would definitely rig up a 10 micron sock to capture the flocculant for a few hours.
It's scary when I have to use that!
I’ve used it at least 70 times in the past 12 years. I’ve never been nervous.
I texted my phosphate Saturday with fish food at was 2.50 and just water from my tank and it was 0.00
Post a new picture of your tank in Club Melevsreef, please. I want to see how things look.
@@melevsreef I posted a picture of my tank in the group 🐠🐡
You should replace those LED strips and throw a couple of the new AI blades on your tank. They would loook sick !
I'll look them up, I've seen them but didn't really investigate. Though I'm very happy with my XHOs.
If it’s working dont fix it 💪🏻
Ai blades are overpriced, underpowered, and lack any originality that their premium price demands.
@@squidarcherb9707 uhm not really. They are a great price for what you get and the par is really good. Do you research
