RD150: Did it work? Update on the Phosphate level

Last night I dosed 125 drops of Phosphate Rx in my reef. Let's see how much of a difference the water tests tonight. And I finally added more salt to my mixing station so it'll be ready to use tomorrow.

I find this test to be very easy. Just hard to video. :)

Surprised you are not using a Hanna checker for phosphate, I have given up on color test kits that are so difficult to determine. The fact that there is such doubt in my test result when using these types of kits, just makes them not worth it for me anymore.

Clear is none. Deep blue is too high. I dont fret about phosphate much.

Any idea why it was building up? Also, is there a natural phosphate consuming algae or something that would keep it in balance?

My test kit was past its expiration, giving me low readings. I showed this in the Sunday Reef Diary. So I was misled for a while. No big deal.

@@melevsreef Yeah, I did catch why it was not detected. Just wondered if something other than GFO or other chemical treatments could slow it. Or maybe reduce the input through a feeding change or something. Phosphate bit me a few times before and getting back into the reef world I am always looking for new ideas from experts. thanks.

@@sudosuga Phosphate has never been a problem for me with my reefs, honestly. I've been using liquid solutions since 2005/2006. I gave GFO a run for about 9 months with miserable results, and decided never to go that route again. I've been using Phosphate Rx four to six times a year for the past 13 years.

@@melevsreef Sounds good. Test test test. You never know when something will drift out of spec. Be ready for when it does. I will try phos RX when it happens to me.
