When your keyboardist freaking giggles ear to ear grin and dances in his chair at the end of the rap, and they are front and center for all of them, you know it's one of Chris's finer work. You could tell, the beat he made for Chris to overlay the lyrics was absolutely perfect. The flow of the words was just, absolutely top notch, and the rhymes, more intricate. Easier for a freestyle rapper to pull off if they can "feel" the beat and it gives them a rhythm to follow for the words. I once did a good freestyle. Just once. I was bored at work, no one was around, I put on a beat from a channel on youtube and just started. I went a solid three minutes before I couldn't keep the story going. It all made sense, it all rhymed, and I didn't repeat rhymes or use too similar of words, or rhyming suffixes (such as "tion" and "ing"). A coworker overheard me and ran over to hear me do the last minute but then I fizzled out. He was blown away, egging me to do another one....I told him it was a one off and it consumed most of my brainpower for the rest of the shift. It's difficult to do freestyle without practice and using some written words to get your first freestyles started and getting a good feel for it.
I like how Chris isn't afraid to play with a variation of a word's pronunciation--- all rappers do it, he has done it in many previous freestyles and doesn't overdo it, and it works extremely well. I think Chris could honestly make a really good album in his free time between shows. You don't have to go on tour, some artists don't tour....NF, and Chris, both inspired me to write song lyrics and study music theory. Chris could make rap songs with really intricate words and people would have better vocabularies from listening. I have a bad habit of endlessly perfecting my written lyrics. Some day, it will be uploaded for all to hear. Right now, I've got five fairly thick notebooks, four of them are filled with lyrics for potentially....twenty songs worthy of an album, or perhaps fifty more slowly released.....I'd rather do quality over quantity. Even if I end up doing just one song, it'll be long enough, with enough changes in chords, bpm, chorus changes, octaves, and many changes in flow to keep it interesting and progressing. Essentially, a Pink Floyd album but for rap.
